SHARON’S POV

Planning a wedding was supposed to feel ethereal, dreamy, something out of the fantasies I used to read about in quiet corners of dusty libraries. Yet here I was walking through the sunlit courtyards with Daemon bouncing on my hip and Kelly carrying Daenerys as if she were made of spun gold trying to choose where I would vow my life to a man who somehow became the center of my world.

I was supposed to be doing this with Morris but apparently his alpha duties have increased with the new changes to law.

“First venue is just up ahead,” Kelly says, shifting Daenerys to his other arm. She coos and grabs his beard. He winces. “Your daughter has an iron grip.”

I laugh. “She gets it from me.”

“I don’t doubt that for a second.”

We walk beneath tall stone archways draped in climbing vines. The palace grounds stretch on endlessly, manicured gardens glistening under the afternoon sun. But nothing prepares me for the clearing that opens before us.

“This…” I breathe.

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY EIGHT: DEFEND AND OFFEND

SHARON’S POVI had learned to recognize my father’s footsteps long before I ever learned what love was supposed to feel like. They were measured. Deliberate. Heavy with authority. The kind of steps that announced judgment before a single word was spoken.I was seated near the window when he found me, Daenerys asleep against my shoulder, her soft breathing the only thing keeping me grounded. The Jordan pack palace felt colder than usual, the stone walls pressing in as though they knew I did not belong here.“Well,” my father said, stopping a few feet away from me. “I see captivity suits you. Must be the only way to get you to behave.”I slowly lifted my gaze to him.Age had done little to soften him. His hair was streaked with gray now, yes, but his eyes were the same, sharp, disapproving, always searching for faults like they were buried treasure.“If you’ve come to gloat,” I said calmly, “you can turn around and leave.”He scoffed. “Still disrespectful. Still stubborn. I suppose some

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY SEVEN: ROLAND’S SPECIAL SURPRISE

SHARON’S POVHope was a dangerous thing. I had learned that the hard way. Every time I thought things were finally getting better, they got worse. Far worse than I could ever imagine.I sat on the edge of the bed with Daenerys cradled against my chest, her tiny fingers tangled in the fabric of my dress as if I were the only solid thing left in her world. Every breath she took grounded me, reminded me that I was still here, still alive, still her mother. Around us, the room was too quiet. The kind of quiet that lulled you into forgetting that this was still a prison.I had been counting footsteps.Timing guards.Memorizing which floorboard creaked near the door and which corner of the hallway stayed shadowed longest at dawn.Escape lived in the details.I brushed a hand over Daenerys’s hair, my lips grazing her temple. We will get out, I promised her silently. No matter what it costs me.A knock sounded and my heart jumped into my throat. Why was I so scared? I haven’t started my escap

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY SIX: FAILED AGAIN

MORRIS’S POVI was losing my fucking mind.It felt like the time Aemond took her from me. I couldn’t think, I couldn’t function. The only difference now was she wasn’t pregnant. But that did not ease my conscience because that bastard had my wife and my daughter. I felt so incompetent. There was no better way to describe it. Every hour that passed without Sharon felt like a blade carving deeper into my chest, slow and deliberate. Sleep no longer came easily. When it did, it was poisoned with visions of chains, blood, and Sharon screaming my name while I remained utterly useless.Roland had taken my queen and my princess from under my own roof. What could be more insulting and degrading than that? The thought of that bastard getting his grimy hand on my wife made my hands shake.I paced the length of the boardroom like a caged animal, boots striking the polished floor hard enough that it echoed off the walls. Maps were spread across the long table. They were detailed sketches of the J

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY FIVE: LOVE ME AGAIN

ROLAND’S POVI couldn’t take my eyes off them. The room was quiet in that fragile way that only exists before dawn, when the world holds its breath and pretends nothing is wrong. Sharon lay on her side, her back partially turned to me, one arm curved protectively around Daenerys. Even in sleep, she guarded our daughter like a wolf over her cub. Daenerys was tucked against her chest, tiny fist clenched in Sharon’s gown, soft breaths puffing in and out. They looked… whole. And it shattered something in me.I sat on the edge of the bed, elbows resting on my knees, my head bowed. The candles had burned low during the night, wax pooled like tears on the table. I hadn’t slept. Not truly. Every time I closed my eyes, memories clawed their way to the surface. Sharon stood by the doorway the day I rejected her, her face pale and stunned, her hand instinctively going to her stomach. Pregnant. Alone. Betrayed.I had been a fool. No, worse.I had been arrogant enough to believe I could always fix

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY FOUR: RUNNING OUT OF TIME

SHARON’S POVI held Daenerys so tightly that my arms ached, but I didn’t loosen my grip. I couldn’t. If I did, I feared the world would tilt again and swallow us whole. The room was large, lavish and even. A bed big enough for four people dominated the center, draped in silks and furs, candles flickering softly along the walls. It should have felt warm. Safe. Instead, it felt like a cage lined with gold.I can not believe Roland had ordered all of us to be in one room.My stomach churned as I sat on the edge of the bed, Daenerys pressed to my chest, her tiny fingers clutching my gown like she sensed my fear. Her breathing was steady now, but every sound outside the door made my heart jump.I couldn’t believe he would do this. No, scratch that.I could believe it. Roland has always had a despicable mind.Suddenly, the door opened and I stiffened instantly.Roland walked in like this was any other night, like he hadn’t ripped my life apart and stitched it back together in his own twist

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   CHAPTER EIGHTY THREE: ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY

SHARON’S POVI dressed Daenerys slowly, deliberately, as if every careful movement could anchor my thoughts before they scattered into something reckless. Her little arms flailed as I slipped her into a soft cream dress. It was too expensive, too pristine for a dungeon-born reunion, but I welcomed the distraction. The way her fingers curled around mine, the soft hum she made when she was content, grounded me. I pressed a kiss to her temple and inhaled her scent, committing it to memory in case tonight went wrong.Because I wasn’t naïve enough to believe this peace would last.Roland said it himself. I shouldn’t get used to this and I did not intend to. My daughter will not be raised in this palace crawling with vipers and conniving demons. As I buttoned the dress, my mind worked relentlessly. Escape routes. Guard shifts. The weight of Daenerys in my arms. How fast I could run with her. Which corridors I remembered from my time here before. Which windows opened outward. Which didn’t.R
