Morris’s POV

We walked side by side, our guards keeping a respectful distance. I noticed the stares almost immediately. There were people whispering, bowing, some even gasping softly.

It wasn’t every day their Alpha came down to walk among them. I ignored it all. My focus was on Sharon. There was something about the way her eyes lit up at the rows of colorful fabrics, the way she laughed quietly when a merchant tried to convince her that a wooden charm would “bring endless love.”

For a while, she seemed lighter.

At one point, we stopped by a little bakery that was releasing the scent of fresh pastries into the air. “You have to try these,” I said, buying a small box of honey buns and flaky cream puffs.

She hesitated, and I instantly knew what was going through her mind. “After what happened, I’m not sure—”

“They’re safe,” I assured her gently. “You have my word.”

She took one, cautiously at first, then took a small bite. Her expression softened, and a small sound of delight escaped h

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   Chapter Forty One: Remorse and Regret

Sharon’s POVI didn’t know how long I sat there with Aemond’s wolf form sprawled across my lap, his fur damp and heavy, my fingers numb from gripping the cloth pressed to his wound. The forest had grown quieter, the stream behind us slowing to a soft lull, almost as if nature itself was holding its breath. But then twigs snapped. Branches rustled. Heavy boots thundered through the underbrush. My heart stopped when Aemond’s men burst into the clearing. Their eyes landed first on Aemond’s still form, then on me. And instantly, the atmosphere shifted into something terrifying.“What happened here?” one of them growled, his scarred face tightening.“She must have attacked him!” another accused, pointing at me as though I were some monster.“What? No!” I scrambled to my feet, hands raised. “He saved my life! We were attacked by a snake and—”“Lies!” a third snarled. “Aemond would never be this weak unless someone stabbed him in the back.”“He wasn’t stabbed!” I cried. “He was poisoned. And

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   Chapter Forty: The River Snake

Sharon’s POVThe stream glimmered faintly beneath the rays of sunlight filtering through the thick canopy. It looked almost peaceful, like it belonged to another world, one untouched by violence or the problems of men.But there was a problem.“You can’t be serious,” I said, but he ignored me, casually shedding his clothes. I was about to decline the bath but the thought of spending another day with all this dirt on my skin made me shudder.“Don’t look,” I said the moment he stepped closer to the water. He gave a low chuckle. “I promised, didn’t I?”Still, I wasn’t convinced. We stripped down to our undergarments, each of us standing at opposite ends of the shallow stream, backs turned. The water was icy against my skin, but it was clean. the first clean thing I had touched in days. I cupped my hands and let the coolness soothe my neck and face. But my mind was not calm.No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t stop thinking about Morris. His face, his touch, his voice, it all played in

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   Chapter Thirty Nine: The Enemy’s Kindness

Sharon’s POVWhen my eyes fluttered open, I half expected to find the soft drapes of my chamber ceiling or the golden morning light slipping through Morris’s balcony curtains. For a moment, I convinced myself it had all been a terrible dream. the ambush, the men, the forest, the pain, all of it.But then reality hit like a storm. The cold, uneven ground beneath me. The sharp scent of smoke and damp stone. The low crackle of fire echoing faintly against the walls of a cave. And him.Aemond.He was sitting by the entrance, his back to the morning light that streamed faintly through the cracks in the rock. His piercing blue eyes were on me. His features were unreadable, almost too calm for someone who had kidnapped a pregnant woman. It wouldn’t surprise me if this wasn’t his first time.I sighed, long and heavy, pressing a trembling hand to my forehead. So it wasn’t a dream after all. I was still here. I was still trapped, cold, and exhausted. My head throbbed where one of his men had s

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   Chapter Thirty Eight: The Alpha’s Priority

Morris’s POVThe letter lay before me on my desk, its edges crumpled from how tightly I had been gripping it. My hands trembled. not out of fear, but out of a fury so deep it burned through every vein in my body. The words on the parchment were written in a familiar, jagged scrawl that made my blood boil.“We have the girl. You have three days. Come alone and unarmed to the cliffs along the Blackwood forest. One wrong move and she dies. See you soon, brother.”At the bottom of the page was his signature. Aemond Blackfyre. The name alone was enough to make my jaw clench so hard I thought my teeth would shatter. That traitor. That murderer. The man who had taken so much from me had her.Every second she spends with him was putting her at great risk.My Sharon.I read the letter again, over and over, as though I could force the words to change. As though I could throw the threat away. But no matter how many times I traced the ink, it stayed the same.A knock on the door tore me from my

Roland’s POVI sat lazily on the edge of my bed, shirt halfway unbuttoned, a glass of whiskey in my hand. The warmth of it burned pleasantly down my throat. Across from me stood one of the new maids. Ella, I think that was her name.I’m not sure. Then again, why should I care? She had her head bowed, fingers trembling as she folded freshly pressed clothes on the dresser.“Come now,” I said, voice smooth, confident, the tone of command that always made others obey. “You don’t have to be so stiff. You’ve been working all day. Relax a little.”Her hands froze mid-fold. “I–I’m fine, Alpha,” she murmured, eyes glued to the fabric, never daring to meet mine. That shyness, that fragile trembling, it amused me. There was something almost thrilling about it. I leaned back, watching her from head to toe, letting my gaze linger longer than necessary. The poor girl swallowed hard, clearly uncomfortable, but I didn’t care. Why should I? I was the Alpha. No one could say no to me. No one dared.“Yo

  • THE PREGNANT SHE WOLF   Chapter Thirty Six: The Enemy’s Truth

Sharon’s POVRage. That was all I felt when the name Aemond sank into my ears. It boiled inside me, hot and wild, cutting through the fear that had been holding me hostage since I woke up in this godforsaken place. I couldn’t believe it, it’s him. The man who had betrayed Morris, destroyed his life, and turned his heart to stone was standing right in front of me, breathing the same air I was.I don’t know why I felt as much rage as I did. One would think I was the one he betrayed. The fact that I am looking at the same man who made Morris who he is now cold, distant, broken. My heart pounded against my chest as I looked up at him. He seemed almost amused by my silence, his scar catching the glow of the moon like a cruel reminder of his past sins.“You,” I whispered, my voice trembling not from fear this time, but from fury. “You’re the monster who ruined him.”Aemond’s smirk faded slightly. “Oh?”“You heard me. You had no right to be bitter. You betrayed your own alpha, Aemond! You s
