Susan’s pov

Subfolders appeared.

There were dozens of them, each named by date. The most recent ones made my stomach twist. I opened the top folder.

Photographs.

Of me.

Of my life.

One showed me leaving my house three days ago, wearing the blue coat I thought I had lost. Another caught me stepping out of my car at work, glancing at my watch. There were more—me and Johnny talking in the break room, me at my desk holding the silver locket between my fingers, lost in thought.

They were time-stamped. Labeled. Even the weather conditions were noted below some of them. Cloudy, 6:42 a.m., mild breeze. Light drizzle, 4:15 p.m., 19°C.

They’d been watching me. For weeks. Maybe even months.

I gasped softly, the sound thin and broken. A tightness clawed up my throat and I pressed a hand to my mouth, shaking. This wasn’t paranoia anymore. This wasn’t a bad dream.

This was real.

A low, icy whisper echoed inside me: They’ve been watching you. Every step you take, every breath you make, and every gl

Johnny’s pov She slammed the laptop shut so fast I almost dropped the water bottle.I had only just stepped into the room. My voice was still soft in my throat when it happened—like the words hadn’t finished forming before the energy in the room shifted. Like a storm had already been brewing before I opened the door. Her eyes were glassy, red-rimmed. Her fingers moved to her cheeks in a rush, wiping tears she hadn’t wanted me to see.I froze.Something was wrong.I could feel it in my bones, and still, I asked the stupid question.“Hey.”My voice cracked. I tried to smile, tried to pretend I hadn’t just walked in on a moment that felt like it wasn’t meant for me. But the look she gave me—it cut deep. Not with anger, but with silence.A silence that screamed.I closed the door behind me, slow and careful, as if sudden movement might make her disappear. My jacket felt heavy in my hand, like it didn’t belong here anymore. Like maybe I didn’t.“You okay?”She smiled. A lie, wrapped in th

Susan’s pov Johnny’s voice called out gently as he stepped into the room holding a bottle of water. His face was calm and kind as always, but I couldn’t breathe.I slammed the laptop shut, heart racing, wiping at my eyes quickly.I couldn’t move. His eyes met mine, and his smile immediately faltered, eyes narrowing just slightly as they scanned my face. His brow creased—not in anger, but in concern. In quiet suspicion.“Hey.” His voice caught—like he expected something bad.I didn’t reply. He walked in and closed the door gently behind him. He held his jacket in one hand, quiet, steady.“You okay?”I forced a smile. “Yeah. Just tired.”My voice shook. His gaze lingered on me. Longer than usual. Like he knew I was lying but didn’t want to say it. Like he could see right through me, but chose not to push. The silence stretched between us, thick with everything I couldn’t say.But I wasn’t okay. Not at all. Because now… I didn’t know who he was anymore. And worst of all—I didn’t know wh

“Johnny…” I groaned, clutching the edges of the sink as my stomach lurched again.I barely had time to breathe before another wave of nausea hit me. The bitter taste rose to my throat, and I bent over the bathroom sink, throwing up everything I’d eaten the night before. My knees shook, my forehead was damp with cold sweat, and my chest burned.I felt weak, drained, and frustrated all at once. The more I tried to breathe through it, the worse it got.Johnny appeared behind me in seconds. “Jesus—Susu, are you okay?” His voice was tight with worry. He rushed to my side and pulled my hair back gently, steadying me with one arm. “Susu, talk to me. Are you okay?”“I’m fine,” I breathed, though I didn’t sound convincing even to myself. “It’s probably just the pregnancy.”“That’s not fine,” he said, clearly not buying it. “You’re going back to bed and I’m calling the doctor.”“I have to get to work,” I muttered, even though my legs were already giving up on me.“You’re not going anywhere toda

Susan’s pov The next morning was a slow burn of unease.I arrived at Harrington Tower at exactly 9:15 a.m., a little later than usual, but the weight of yesterday still clung to me like fog. My heels echoed against the marble floor as I passed through the glass doors, greeting no one. The receptionist gave me a warm smile and a soft “Good morning,” but I barely acknowledged her.I passed the open workspace where rows of desks stretched across the floor—junior staff already busy with their routines. Some looked up at me briefly, offering polite nods. Others kept their heads down, focused on their screens. As I walked through the space, my eyes drifted toward a familiar spot just beyond the divider, near the far left corner—Nathan’s desk.It was always the first thing I looked at every morning. Just seeing him there, already busy, always made the day feel like it had a rhythm. But today, it was empty. No jacket draped over the chair. No coffee cup beside his keyboard. Just stillness.I

Susan’s povI turned fast, nearly falling over.It was Marshall. He stood by the door, leaning against the doorframe with his arms folded tightly across his chest. His sleeves were rolled up, and a few buttons of his shirt were undone, showing a bit of his chest. His face was hard to read—calm but serious—and it made my heart beat faster.“What are you doing here?” I demanded, standing up from my chair.“I could ask you the same thing.”My eyes narrowed. “How long have you been watching?”He slowly stepped forward, each step deliberate and careful. “Long enough,” he said. “Long enough to see you’re in deeper than you realize.”I stared at him for a short moment. “What the hell does that mean?”He paused. “Gina didn’t act alone. And Clive… he wasn’t the brains behind it. He was just a pawn.”I tightened my fists. “Then who is it?”Marshall didn’t answer.Instead, he reached into his pocket and tossed something on the table. I moved forward to see what it was—a keycard.Nathan’s access.
