~~Anya's POV~~

To Beta Zain.

“S.”

The paper lay quietly between my trembling fingers as I stared at it. But yet, it felt heavier than that thick book that rested open on the table. Everything suddenly seemed to have disappeared inside the archive. Even the faint scent of dust and the old papers.

All my eyes could see was the worn paper and that single signatory letter written at the bottom.

“S.”

My thumb brushed on top of it lightly. Serena. The only name my mind reached for. It came so natural

  • THE REJECTED LUNA   CHAPTER 70: FROM FATHER… TO MOTHER?

    ~~~Anya’z POV~~~The room went completely still. Talia did not move, neither did I. Even the dog, we just stayed, eyes locked into the space in my bedroom.Talia turned, her stare deepened on me from the side. And me? My eyes were just locked on my phone.Finally, Talia's voice cut the already stretching and suffocating silence. “Hmm, well… who could that be?”I moved my eyes gently from the screen and then to her. “I seriously have no idea.”Because that's the truth. How could I just get back from an exhausting journey, and now this? If I have already found out about the covenant, then I must be in danger far more than I actually realized?A low laugh escaped the side of my mouth, because yeah, this thing is actually getting funny to me.“You're laughing!?” Talia's eyes widened with terror from my side. I just looked at her with a very expressionless face and then looked back towards the space in the room.Talia stood up abruptly, pacing inside the room. She moved from the bed side
  • THE REJECTED LUNA   CHAPTER 69: FAR MORE IN WHAT? DANGER!?
    ~~~Anya’s POV~~~I silently moved towards my room in the apartment, the worn paper still rested between my fingers as I stared just at that seal. My body sank onto the bed as I stared intently at it, the faded seal stared back at me the same way I did. Larry? Shadowmoon?I had only seen that mark a few times in Larry's company… just a brief glance and nothing to actually hold onto, but now, the mark was clearly all over my head, it was basically something most people would actually just forget. But now… the memory resurfaced perfectly. The same shape, the same design, identical… What could a seal like this have to do with Larry? What could this letter probably have to do with Shadowmoon itself as a whole? No. My head shook repeatedly but my eyes were still locked on it. It's impossible. Maybe I'm just overthinking it, right? Because this paper had actually existed in a different city before now, and it had existed years before anyone would realize. It might actually be the same s

The only name my mind reached for. It came so naturally that I almost laughed at myself. But no, I don't think that's even possible.This paper looked like it existed decades ago, its edges brittle and yellowed from time, looking like it had actually existed even before Serena and I were born.Unless she'd somehow discovered the secret to immortality, which was clearly impossible… then therefore, this “S” actually should belong to someone else.But still, this sudden coincidence refused to leave me alone. Why does every path that I follow somehow

  • THE REJECTED LUNA   CHAPTER 67: SIGNATORY.

    ~~~Anya~~~I stared at the words that sat on the page in that book.“When the Covenant fell, the heirs vanished.”They looked completely different than what they actually meant. It felt as if I was staring at it but not actually seeing it. The sentence should have felt important to me because of the covenant, but…Heirs. The only word that attached itself to my brain and suddenly refused to go. Not the covenant, not vanished, heirs. Because only that word… it implied ownership, bloodlines, inheritance, family… things that were basically passed down, things that could actually be taken away.The statue. The photograph. My father. Serena. Ridgewood. The old man who kept speaking in riddles. All the pieces started to float in my head, without really fitting there. I could literally feel them connecting, as if a puzzle was actually fitting but half of the pieces were upside down. None of those should really make sense, not yet. But there's this unsettling feeling in me that suddenly tel
    ~~~~Anya~~~~My hands hovered above the notebook, still studying every corner of it.The air in the museum suddenly felt choking as it felt smaller. Too warm and too quiet. The distant hushed murmurs had faded into nothing, leaving just the sound of my own heartbeat thudding heavy in my ears.I looked down on the notebook once more. Then again, the same name just stared back at me.Silas Pacta.No matter how many times I blinked my eyes, the words just refused to become something else, different. I swallowed very hard. Maybe I was mistaken, or maybe I was actually remembering it wrong, or maybe my mind was forcing some connections that weren't even there at all. I said to myself.But the longer I stared at the name, that's when I become more certain about it. Because I knew that name. Not from Ridgewood as a whole, not from Kane, not form Larry… but from my father.A sudden strange chill crawled it's way up my spine. For a few seconds, the notebook between my fingers no longer felt li

    ~~~Anya~~~The statue stood right before me, staring straight into my bones. My phone was still up in the air, my eyes darting between the man on the carved stone and the one standing just close to my father. It was unmistakably him.I lowered my hands down as a sudden ache jolted through my arm. Right in this town, it stood right there —displayed. Not hidden. Not abandoned. Not buried. But proudly displayed as if everyone knows exactly who the man is in this town. While I had spent most of time trying to figure out this man's identity, he was practically something everyone looked almost every day in this city.I moved closer again, ignoring the way people looked at me as I stared too deep at the statue, staring directly at his face. He looked older in this carving, but it was definitely him. The same man everyone seems unwilling to talk about, but here, he stood looking less of a mystery and more of something to explore. It totally makes no sense right now. My eyes darted towards t
    ~~~Anya~~~The next morning felt colder than usual. It wasn't because of the weather, but because of the place I'm headed to. Sterling Corporation—Ridgewood Holdings, stood tall before me. Its glass exterior was reflecting the early morning sunlight as if nothing, not even the air in it had changed.

  • THE REJECTED LUNA   CHAPTER 5: I REFUSE TO BREAK

    ~~~Anya~~~Maybe it was just me. But the air felt heavier than usual the moment I stepped out of Sterling Corporation. My heels clicked softly against the pavement as I walked past the glass doors and tried to ignore the whispers that followed me out of the building like shadows.“They said Alpha K
    ~~~ANYA~~~I felt a twist in my stomach the moment I saw Meena smiling uncontrollably at the mention of the arrival of the Alpha.My mate is here. The Alpha. My heart flung in my chest as blood rushed to my cheeks. I turned to smile at Talia closely as she held my hands tightly. She returned the ge

    ~~~ANYA~~~“It can’t be…” I whispered to myself. But my wolf surged inside me, whispering one word: “Ours.”Too many things sifted through my mind at once as I couldn’t concentrate on one thought long enough. My head was troubled with thoughts all mixed up with a heavy dose of boredom. The memory o
