Jessica lacked the strength to continue her search for Cory. He must have been out for a run because he wasn't in his chambers or training in the fields.
The small omega girl went back to the barn and used a bucket to draw water from the well. It was difficult and painful since her left rib was bruised and broken. She stripped naked, and stood behind the shed where she previously placed the bucket of water, then she used the fragments of crushed soaps she gathered while cleaning the bathrooms in the pack-house to take a quick bath, making sure to wash herself thoroughly. She didn't need another werewolf to smell that she had lost her virginity, even though it was to her mate. It was still embarrassing. All she longed for was to be with Cory and have him hold her in his arms. Once she completed her bath, she entered the barn and searched through the box containing her few pieces of clothing. Most of them were old and tattered clothes that other omegas threw away. Jessica salvaged them from the dump and fixed them up, giving her more than just two clothing options. She wore a simple yellow dress and set the blue dress that she had been saving for the prom aside. Though she didn’t go to school, she thought Cory would ask her to be his date since she was his mate. The dress belonged to her mother; it was one of the two dresses the Luna made her keep. The other was the gown from her mother's wedding. Jessica visited the pack hospital, where the doctor treated her wounds and provided pain medication, before she went to Luna's quarters. She was responsible for helping Magda prepare for the ball. Jessica was even more terrified of the Luna than she was before. Especially since she found out Magda murdered her parents. She even wondered what punishment the Luna would give her now that the alpha had revealed he planned to take her as a second wife. She took a deep breath, as she truly believed that things would fall into place after Cory tells everyone that she was his mate. Sure enough, the alpha and Luna wouldn't go against the wishes of the Moon Goddess. Upon stepping into Luna's bedroom, Jessica felt a dark energy surrounding her. "You're late!" The Luna yelled. "I came here as fast as I could," Jessica bowed. She loathed submitting to the woman who took her parents' lives. Once she became Luna, Jessica made a promise to herself to see Magda incarcerated for her misdeeds, and anyone else involved in the killings of her parents. "Well, I don't need your services today," the Luna spat. "In two months, you will become the alpha's concubine. Might as well get used to not doing any work. Not that you do any now. You're lazy and ungrateful." "What am I supposed to do?" She asked. "I don't know, and I don't care," Luna hissed. "You're free to do whatever you want today. The ball has been postponed because your future husband wants to announce his engagement to you two weeks before the ceremony." The Luna turned her back to Jessica and started on her own hair. "OK," Jessica said as she turned on her heels and exited the room. A smile lit up her face. Since the ball was postponed, she knew Cory would meet her later in the supply closet. ******* Six weeks had passed since Jessica's deflowering. Needless to say, the sex hadn't gotten any easier or more romantic. It was always the same routine. They'd meet up in the supply closet when everyone was asleep and Cory would take her in any which way he wanted until he climaxed. Jessica didn't know sex was that uneventful. Reading books like Fifty Shades of Grey, Jake The Panty Ripper and Whips And Chains, she would have thought it would have felt different; better. Cory wasn't like the men she read about in those novels, those men could last for hours when Cory only lasted five minutes the most, and it was normally because he was drunk. "Cory, you have said nothing to me since I told you your father's plans of taking me as a wife," Jessica let out. "Pookie, you worry too much. I will tell my father about us soon. It's just that my parents are going through some marital issues right now, and I would rather not add fuel to fire." "OK," she sighed. "How's your wounds healing?" He quickly changed the subject. "My nose is finally out of plaster and my rib is feeling much better these days, especially since your mother and sisters have been keeping their distances from me for the past six weeks," she explained. "The twins were upset with you because they blamed you for having the ball cancelled, but then when they heard that even more alphas will be present at the one being held tomorrow night, they had been focused on losing weight and finding the right outfits." "I see," Jessica chuckled. "And Chrissy..." He cut her off. "I told you Jessica, I don't want this Chrissy. I don't even know her. You're the one I want." Jessica laughed as Cory kissed her lips. "I'm glad to hear you say that," Jessica smiled. "Well, Pookie I'm heading out for training. See you at the ball tomorrow. Wear that blue dress of yours. It makes your eyes pop." "OK Cory, I love you," she announced as he exited the closet. As Jessica watched him dash up the steps, she continued to wonder why, after more than two months of being together, Cory had yet to say 'I love you' to her."HE SAID WHAT?" Alpha Nolan's furious roar echoed through the stone hall, shaking the walls and startling the staff passing by outside.Cameron didn't flinch, though even he felt the intensity radiating off the Alpha like a storm ready to split the sky. "He said they'll be staying a few more days... at Mystic Mountain," he repeated calmly, though his jaw was tight."Mystic Mountain?" Nolan growled. "That boy is a spoiled little brat. If I didn't have half the damn pack to reorganize, I would run up there myself and drag him back by his ears!"He slammed his palm down on the table, making the tea set rattle."Are they at least safe?" Luna Peaches asked, her voice soft and steady, though the worry in her eyes betrayed her."Yes, Luna," Cameron nodded respectfully. "They seem to be in good hands." He didn't know whether to tell them that the boy was with his grandfather and uncle. Then again, Cameron thought it wasn't his place to say anything. Even DJ, Falcon, and Theo kept their mouth
"Careful! Careful!" Nigel Senior was hovering over Opal as she made the final touches to her potion."Would you back off, old man?" Opal scoffed. "You're getting on my nerves."Nigel Senior grabbed his mate gently by the waist, his voice softening. "I'm just happy you're alive and well. I don't know what I'd do without you."Cameron cleared his throat. "Excuse me," he said, stepping forward. The old couple quickly pulled apart, slightly sheepish."What is it, Cameron?" Opal asked, her tone neutral but eyes curious."I'm just wondering if the potion is done yet. We wanted to beat the darkness and get back to the Whistling Cave before sundown.""I see. I just need to do one more thing," she replied. As if on cue, DJ walked in at that very moment just in time to see Opal spit directly into the mixture. There was a soft poof, and the potion transformed from green to a glowing blue, emitting a faint shimmer."My father has to drink that?" DJ asked, his eyebrows lifting in disbelief."If he
"My prince," Theodore dropped to his knees, his voice trembling with awe. "It's an honor to meet you. I can't believe I met your father, and now... I'm meeting you."Lazarus blinked, clearly surprised. "You met my father?""Yes," Theo nodded quickly. "We stopped at the Vanderwolf mansion for the Alpha's help in finding Mystic Mountain, and he showed up. He was looking for you. He said you took something that belonged to your stepmother."Lazarus growled low in his throat, a sharp sound that sent shivers down everyone's spine. "So he knows I took the Book of the Gods... Damn him. Did he say anything else?""Not really," Theodore answered. "Only that you left with werewolves and a human.""So that means the Alpha knows we're traveling with a bloodsucker," said a broad-shouldered young man from the far corner of the room. His voice was gruff, but there was a spark of mischief in his eyes. "I'm Valko, the son of the Beta from the Howling Cliffs pack. This here is my sister, Velma, and our
After hours of hiking through the magical forest, the group finally reached the top of Mystic Mountain, and they were worn out. Their bodies ached, their stomachs growled, and even the adrenaline that had fueled their journey so far was starting to wear thin. The once-glowing candy skies had darkened into deep violet. The enchanted beauty around them, while still mesmerizing, was now cloaked in shadow.Every step felt heavier."Remind me again why we didn't pack snacks," Falcon groaned, dragging his feet. "I'm starving.""Didn't you eat enough chocolate dirt and candy clouds?" Theo snapped."I don't think all that forest junk food counts," Falcon muttered."Look," Cameron said suddenly, lifting his arm and pointing ahead. "There's a cabin up ahead.""That must be Opal's place," DJ said, relief evident in his voice. “It’s older than I expected.” "Who cares?" Falcon sighed dramatically. "I just wanna kick these boots off. I really need a foot rub."The group moved forward, but their pa
"So... how did she taste?" Cameron asked, breaking the silence with a sly grin.DJ shot him a look. "Please. Don't start.""Come on," Cam smirked, nudging his shoulder. "We're all friends here."DJ groaned. "Honestly? Salty," he muttered, shaking his head.Falcon burst out laughing. "She tasted exactly how she acts. Salty.”Even Theodore cracked a grin, his normally serious expression softening. Their laughter echoed off the glistening cave walls as they trekked forward, still damp from their dive through the mermaid's secret entrance.Mishell's kiss had unlocked a secret door under the cave that pulled them into the depths when they plunged in. They swam for barely a minute before they emerged inside what felt like the belly of the world. The cave was warm, thick with a soft golden mist that clung to their skin like silk.Everything was eerily silent. No echoes. No dripping water. Just... warmth."Something smells sweet," Theo said suddenly, his vampire senses flaring.DJ sniffed the
They woke just before sunrise, the horizon still wearing a blanket of fog. With the wind nipping at their faces and clouds looming above like a warning, Cameron, DJ, Falcon, and Theodore took off at full speed, tearing across the rugged terrain toward their next destination... The Whistling Cave. The world around them was eerie and quiet, except for the occasional distant crackle of thunder. The air tasted like sea salt and static. There was definitely a storm coming. After racing for nearly an hour, they skidded to a halt just shy of a steep cliff. The sound hit them first, an echo so deafening, it vibrated their skulls. They clutched at their ears as the unnatural screeching reverberated from below."The cave is whistling alright," Cameron said, gulping hard as his eyes watered from the noise.Theo crept to the cliff's edge, his vampiric senses zeroing in on a strange vibration. He motioned for the others. Below, nestled into the jagged cliffs like the gaping mouth of a sea monster,
