Felix’s POV

“Babe, get up. It’s morning already,” I hear Ella’s sweet but firm voice. She's gently nudging me awake, her hands lightly shaking my shoulder.

“Babe, it’s still early,” I murmur, my voice groggy with sleep. My body feels glued to the bed. I just want a few more minutes to finish the amazing dream I was having. Why does morning have to come so quickly?

I turn my head slightly and squint at the alarm clock on the nightstand. It’s 5:30 a.m. I had set my alarm for 6:00 a.m, half an hour left! Thirty precious minutes that could mean the difference between exhaustion and being fully recharged. I groan softly.

“Babe, my alarm hasn’t even rung yet, and you’re waking me up. I’m still sleepy,” I complain, curling myself deeper into the warmth of the blanket.

Ella, of course, isn’t having it.

“Stop it, please,” she says playfully but firmly. “Wake up already so you can prepare yourself properly. Remember, an early bird catches the worm.”

That line again. She always uses that quote when I’m being lazy. And as always, it works. I sigh and slowly sit up. She’s right, there’s no benefit in delaying. Being lazy won't help me achieve anything.

Truthfully, I’m so thankful she spent the night at my place. “Babe, I’ll sleep over because I know you too well. You might not wake up on time tomorrow, and you can't be late on your first day,” she had said with a knowing smile.

She was absolutely right. If it weren’t for her, I probably would have overslept, even with the alarm blaring beside me. It’s like she knows my habits better than I do.

After freshening up and getting dressed, I gather my things.

“Have a nice day, babe. May this day bring you luck,” Ella says, holding my hand tightly as I prepare to leave. Her eyes are filled with encouragement. “Remember to have courage, okay? That’s the most important thing. I believe in you. And I know you’re going to give your best.”

She leans in and plants a gentle kiss on my cheek. That simple touch fills me with warmth. With her love and support, I feel like I can take on anything the world throws at me. She really is my lucky charm.

Since it was my first day at the new job, I made sure to hurry so I could arrive early and make a good first impression. I had no idea what to expect, so I didn’t want to take any chances.

When I reached the office building, I was taken aback. It was massive, modern architecture, glass walls, and polished floors. Everything about it screamed wealth and prestige. The receptionist was already at her desk, and she greeted me with a polite smile before directing me to a waiting area.

I sat there quietly, observing my surroundings. Only a few employees had arrived. The silence made me feel slightly restless. My palms were sweating. I just hoped everything would go smoothly.

Within an hour, more workers started arriving, filling the office with soft chatter and activity. It was clear this was a big company, dozens of employees, neatly dressed, walking confidently to their departments. I was in awe. Anyone who owned and managed an office this grand had to be a billionaire or someone very close to it.

I couldn’t help but feel incredibly lucky to have secured a job here. With only a few years of experience under my belt, it still amazed me that they had decided to give me a chance. I promised myself in that moment: I won’t let them down. I’ll give my best, every single day.

“Hello, Mr. Felix. Welcome to our company,” I heard a voice say from behind me.

I turned and saw a well-dressed man smiling warmly at me, his hand extended in greeting.

“Hello, sir,” I said respectfully as I shook his hand.

“Congratulations. I’m the manager here. Let me show you around and get you settled at your workstation,” he said.

I followed him, and he gave me a quick tour of the office, introducing me to a few people and showing me the different departments. The place was even more impressive on the inside. Every space was professionally arranged, the atmosphere busy but organized.

A few minutes later, I was led to my desk. I could barely contain my excitement. My own desk, with a computer and everything! It felt surreal.

I started working immediately. There was no time to waste, piles of manuscripts and documents needed editing. The workload was heavy, but I didn’t mind. I was grateful to be here.

One thing I couldn’t ignore, however, was how many female workers were in the office. And not just any women, they were stunning. Elegant, graceful, well dressed. Since my workstation was in an open-plan area, it was hard not to notice them as they passed by.

Honestly, if I wasn’t already in a committed relationship with Ella, I might have been tempted. It would have been ridiculously easy to find someone in a place like this.

“This is going to be an interesting place to work,” I thought to myself with a small grin. “I just hope I get along well with my colleagues… especially the female ones.”

Thankfully, I had my lunch packed. Ella had insisted on it this morning, knowing how picky I was with food. I don’t like eating from public places, especially on my first day. She had thought of everything.

“What would I do without her?” I wondered. Her prayers, her encouragement, her presence… It’s because of her that I got this job in the first place. And I’ll make sure I never lose it.

The day went by faster than I expected. The work was intense but manageable. Whenever I got stuck, someone was always willing to help. I liked the team already, they seemed friendly and cooperative.

After work, I decided to surprise Ella. It had been a while since we’d gone out on a real date. Despite all the wealth and comfort she had, she was the simplest girl I knew. She never asked for much. I knew she’d be eagerly waiting to hear how my first day had gone.

As I was packing up, I almost left my lunch box behind. A wave of embarrassment hit me, no one else had brought a lunch box today. Everyone else seemed to just buy food from the office cafeteria. I felt a little out of place, but oh well. I liked my packed lunch better anyway.

Just as I was walking out of the office, I bumped into someone. Our shoulders collided, and before I knew it, all the files she was carrying scattered across the floor.

“I’m so sorry, madam,” I said immediately, bending down to help her gather the papers.

As I looked up, I was momentarily stunned. She was… breathtaking. Tall and slender, with long dark hair that flowed over her shoulders, big expressive eyes, and smooth light skin that practically glowed. She had a natural elegance that made it hard to look away.

“It’s okay. No worries,” she said casually as she took the files from my hands and walked off.

I stood there, still holding one folder, watching her walk away. Something about her had just pulled my focus completely. I didn’t even catch her name.

“What just happened?” I asked myself, still dazed.

I shook the thoughts from my head, grabbed my bag, and left the office. I had a date to plan, and a story to tell Ella.

Whatever that moment was, I was sure of one thing, Ella was my everything. And I wouldn’t let anything change that.

  • THE REJECTION   Ella's wedding

Ella’s POV After one year. One year had passed since that bad day in our lives. We were happy again. The incident had already faded from our minds. It was time to move on from the past, we had so much to focus on for the future. My mother had completely recovered. She was now able to use both her legs without any problem. She was so happy with her current condition. Things between her and Dad were fine now. They had gone back to being the loving couple they once were, and I was so proud of them. At last, my mom was happy with Dad. They were even planning to renew their vows. “I just want a small wedding,” Mom said once, and Dad was planning to go with her wish. My daughter, Laura, had completely recovered from the shock of that day. She had resumed school, and she was doing so well in her studies. I was so proud of her. She was a strong girl, and I felt blessed to have her as my daughter. Luca and I were also still together. Now we saw each other all the time. I was so happy with

  • THE REJECTION   End of Sarah

Ella’s POV Seeing my daughter in that situation made me feel so weak. I asked myself so many questions. Why was my daughter going through so much? It wasn’t fair to her. Right now, I was embracing my daughter tightly. She was crying so hard, and I just wanted to calm her down. She had witnessed another murder right in front of her when the police shot Sarah. The police were now taking Sarah’s dead body to the morgue. My dad and mom were standing there, staring in disbelief. In such a short time, the whole party had been ruined. Luca was there too, holding my hand. His support made me feel safe and loved. “Let us go and sit down, love. You have been standing for a long time now. Your feet must be tired already. Laura, baby, let me carry you please,” Luca said after the police left with Sarah’s body. “Yes, baby. Let us go. I am already exhausted,” I said, and he carried Laura as he guided us toward my parents. “Mom, Dad… why is this always happening?” I asked as I embraced them, te

  • THE REJECTION   Sarah's arrival at the party

Sarah’s POV After leaving Clara’s home, I decided to stay on the streets. I looked miserable, by the way. If I went to the club, no man would even look at me. I didn’t look attractive at all. My body curves were gone, all because of prison food. Since I hated eating in prison, my beautiful body disappeared, and now I looked completely emaciated. The streets were so cold, especially at night. In the two days I had slept here, I slept hungry. There was no food, and people refused to give me any money. I hated my life so much. I wished I had never escaped prison. I thought life would be easy after escaping, but it was even tougher than being inside. Today, when I woke up, I saw a commotion among the people on the streets. It seemed like they were going somewhere important. Curious, I decided to ask them. “There is a party today at some rich family’s house. They will cook a lot of food, and we will get some leftovers after the party,” one of them answered. “Can you take me with you, p

  • THE REJECTION   The party

Ella’s POV Everything was ready, the food, the drinks, the decorations. Our house looked beautiful, prepared to celebrate my parents’ reunion. I was so happy today. All I had ever wanted was to see my parents together again. At last, their happiness had returned, and I could no longer hide the joy inside me. I climbed upstairs to help my mom get dressed. It was still early, and guests had not yet started to arrive. But I knew that in a short while, people would begin coming to celebrate with us. “Mom, can I come in?” I asked, knocking on her door. “Yes, dear, please come in. I need your help with this dress. I can’t wear it on my own,” she said. She was clearly happy to see me. Her leg was still bandaged. “How are you feeling today, Mom? It is your big day. You’re finally announcing your reunion with Dad. It’s such a special moment,” I told her. “I feel so alive, baby. Words can’t express how happy I am. Your dad finally came back to me. I thought he would never love me again, b

  • THE REJECTION   Entering Clara's house

Sarah’s POV “Where do you want me to drop you?” the man asked. His voice sounded distant. I had already started dozing off in his beautiful car. My body was exhausted from walking for so long, and hunger clawed painfully at my stomach. I didn’t even have a single coin on me, no hotel would accept me like this. I had nowhere to go. “Just drop me here, please,” I said softly. He stopped the car immediately. “Are you sure you can continue from here? You look weak and tired,” he said, concern in his voice. “Yes, I can continue. Thank you so much. I appreciate your generosity,” I told him as I pushed the door open and stepped out. A moment later, he drove away, leaving me standing alone on the roadside. I looked around, lost and unsure. My legs felt like they would give up on me any second. I needed somewhere, anywhere, to rest before I collapsed. “Clara,” I murmured to myself. “She won’t refuse me, I will go to her house and beg her to let me stay for just a few days.” Clara was th

  • THE REJECTION   After escaping from prison.

Sarah’s POV I wake up feeling a little better, though weakness still clings to my body like a shadow. My stomach growls angrily, reminding me that I haven’t eaten anything since yesterday. The rumbling is so loud it almost hurts. If I don’t find something soon, I might actually starve. My arm feels a bit better now, still sore, but nothing like the sharp pain I felt yesterday. Slowly, carefully, I push myself up from the hard floor. My head spins for a moment, but I steady myself and decide to look around the house again. Maybe, just maybe, I will find something to fill my empty stomach. I manage to locate an old box that looked like a fridge tucked in a corner, dusty and humming faintly as if it has been asleep for decades. I pull the door open, praying for a miracle. Inside, I find only two cans of soda. That’s it. It looks like whoever lived here abandoned this place in a rush. Maybe she got tired of living in such conditions, no electricity, no water, no comfort. I don’t even k
