Ella’s POV

“Babe, come and look at this! I’ve just received an email from the company I applied to. It says I’ve already been hired!” Felix exclaimed the moment he walked into the house. His voice was full of excitement, he could hardly contain it. It was obvious he had been dying to get home just so he could share the news with me in person.

I rushed toward him, smiling wide. “Show me, babe!” I said, my heart pounding with joy.

He handed me his phone, and I stared at the screen. There it was, the email he had waited so long for. My eyes scanned the words again and again. It was real. No more interviews, no more waiting, no more rejections. He had gotten the job!

Tears welled up in my eyes as I threw my arms around him. “Oh, thank God! Finally! Now we can start saving up for our wedding, the wedding we’ve been waiting on for so long,” I said, squeezing him tightly.

We had been together for five years. Five long, beautiful, and sometimes challenging years. And now, finally, we could begin planning our future, our real future. A future with a wedding, a home, and eventually a family.

“I will finally marry you, my darling,” Felix said, smiling as he leaned in to kiss me softly.

My heart swelled with happiness. It felt like the clouds had parted after a long storm, and the sun was finally shining down on us. I could already picture myself walking down the aisle in a white gown, smiling through my veil as I saw him waiting for me at the altar. I imagined the honeymoon, the laughter, the joy. The day couldn’t come fast enough. This was the beginning of a dream come true.

“So, when do you start working?” I asked, still grinning.

“They said I can begin on Monday next week. I’m so excited, babe,” he replied.

And I believed him. I knew this job would be a turning point in his life. He was passionate, hardworking, and incredibly committed. That’s one of the reasons I loved him so deeply. He never gave up, no matter how hard things became.

My name is Ella Mark, twenty-eight years old. I’m the only daughter of Stephen and Susan Mark, two of the most well-known and respected people in our community. To them, I’ve always been their precious girl, their pride and joy. I grew up surrounded by love, comfort, and privilege.

I met Felix when I was twenty-three, in my third year of university. The moment I saw him, I felt something shift inside me. It was love at first sight. There was something about him, gentle, sincere, and quietly confident. We connected immediately, as if the universe had designed him just for me.

But when I introduced him to my parents, things didn’t go as smoothly. They disapproved from the very beginning. To them, Felix didn’t fit into our world. He wasn’t rich, didn’t come from a well-known family, and at the time, he didn’t even have a job. They couldn’t understand what I saw in him.

But I did. I knew exactly what I saw, a man with a good heart. A man who respected me, loved me purely, and always dreamed of building a future with me. So I fought for him. I explained to my parents, time and time again, that he was the one I loved. Eventually, they agreed to give him a chance.

Not only that, they offered to support our wedding financially. But Felix, being the proud and determined man he is, had something else in mind.

“Babe,” he once told me, “It won’t look right if your father pays for everything, even our honeymoon. I want to pay for that part myself. I want him to see that I can take care of you. I want him to see that I am worthy of his daughter.”

It was one of the many moments that made me love him even more. That’s why we put the wedding on hold. We waited. And now, it’s all finally coming together. The job, the plans, the dreams. The wait was worth it.

I was so happy I could burst.

Felix’s POV

Finally, it happened.

I landed the job I had been dreaming about for so long. A real job. A respectable, stable, and promising position in the field I love. It felt almost unreal.

For the longest time, I had been sending out applications, attending interviews, and facing rejection after rejection. There were moments I felt completely defeated. But today… today was different.

All I wanted was to get home and tell Ella.

As I walked into the house and saw her waiting for me with that bright, loving smile on her face, I couldn’t hold it in.

“Babe, come and look at this! I got the job!”

I handed her my phone, and as she read the email, I watched her expression change from curiosity to joy and finally to pure happiness. She hugged me tightly, and in that moment, everything I had gone through suddenly felt worth it.

Ella isn’t just my girlfriend, she’s my angel, my support system, my better half. She’s been by my side through the darkest seasons of my life.

She wasn’t my first love, but I am certain she will be my last. I’ve never felt this kind of love before. The kind that’s patient. The kind that doesn’t leave when things get tough. The kind that stays.

Despite being the only child of incredibly wealthy parents, Ella never looked down on me, not even when I had nothing to offer her except my love and my dreams. She stayed by my side when I was broke, jobless, and unsure of my future. She canceled our wedding plans without complaining. She believed in me when even I had stopped believing in myself.

Her parents? They didn’t make it easy. They disapproved of me from the very start. They saw me as a poor man trying to win over their rich, precious daughter. I don’t blame them, really. From their perspective, I wasn’t enough. But Ella? She saw beyond my lack. She saw potential. And she never gave up on me.

Eventually, she even managed to convince her family to give me a chance. I’ll never forget that. It’s something I will always be grateful for.

Now that I’ve gotten this job, everything is about to change. I can finally provide for Ella. I can finally start saving for the wedding we’ve dreamed about for years. I can stand tall and show her father that I am capable of taking care of his daughter. That I’m not just a dreamer, but a man with ambition and heart.

I still remember telling her, “Babe, it won’t look good if your father covers everything, even our honeymoon. I want to handle that myself. I want to show him that I am enough for you.”

And now, I will.

This job isn’t just employment, it’s freedom. It’s the first brick in the foundation of the life I want to build with Ella. It’s the start of everything we’ve waited and sacrificed for.

And I promise, I won’t let her down.

They were now planning to renew their vows.“I just want a small wedding.” Mom said once and my dad was planning to go as per her wish.* * * * * * * * My daughter, Laura. • THE REJECTION   End of Sarah

Ella's POVSeeing my daughter in that situation made me feel so weak. I asked myself so many questions. Why was my daughter passing through so much? It wasn't fair to her. Right now, I am embracing my daughter so tightly. She was crying really hard. I just wanted to calm her down. She witnessed another murder in front of her when the police shot Sarah. They police were now taking Sarah's dead body to the morgue. My dad and mom were just there, staring with disbelief in their eyes. In such a short time, the whole party was ruined. Luca was there too, just holding my hand. His support made me feel safe and loved. “Let's go and sit there, love. You have been standing for a long time now. Your feet must be tired already. Laura baby, let me carry you please.” Luca says after the police leave with Sarah's body.“Yes baby. Let's go. I am already exhausted.” I say, and he carries Laura and takes us to where mom and dad were.“Mom, dad. Why is this always happening.” I say as I embrace my p

  • THE REJECTION   Sarah's arrival at the party

Sarah's POV.After leaving Clara's home. I decide to just stay on the streets. I looked miserable, by the way. So if I go to the club, no man will look at me. I did not look attractive at all. My body curves were all gone, and all that was due to prison food. Since I hated the food there, my beautiful body was gone. I looked really emaciated. The streets were so cold, especially during the nights. In these two days I have slept here, I slept hungry. There was no food and people refused to give me any money. I hated my life so much. I just wish I had not escaped prison. I thought life would be easy after escaping, but it was more tough than in prison.Today, when I wake up, I see a commotion with the people in the streets. It's like they were going somewhere important. I am curious to know where they are going, and I decide to ask them.“There is a party today and some rich family. They are going to cook a lot of food, and we will be given some leftovers after the party.” One of them

  • THE REJECTION   The party

Ella's POV.Everything was ready. Starting with the food, drinks, decorations. Our house was beautifully decorated to celebrate my parent's reunion. I was so happy today. All I ever wanted was to see my parents together always. At last, my parent's happiness was back. I was so happy, and I could not hide the joy anymore. I climb upstairs to help my mom get dressed. It was still early. People has not yet started to arrive. I know in a short while, people will start coming here to celebrate our happiness with us.“Mom, can I come in?” I knock on her door.“Yes, dear, please come in. I need your help with this dress. I cannot wear it on my own.” My mom says. Clearly she was happy to see me in her room. Her leg was still bandaged.“How are you feeling today, mom. I mean, it's your big day. Finally, you will announce your reunion with dad. It's just a special day." I ask her.“I feel so much alive, baby. Words cannot express how happy I feel. At long last, your dad came back to me. I had

  • THE REJECTION   Entering Clara's house

Sarah's POV.“Where do you want me to drop you?” The man asks. I had already started dozing off in his beautiful car. I was so tired from walking, and I was also hungry. I did not even have money, so I can't go to the hotel. I know they will refuse to accommodate me. “Just drop me here, please.” I say to him and he stops the car.“Are you sure you can continue from here? You look weak and tired.” The man says.“Yes. I can continue. Thank you so much. I appreciate your generosity.” I say as I open the car door and come out of it. The man speeds up his car and drives off. I am left stranded, not knowing where to go. With the way I was feeling, I needed somewhere to rest. I felt like I might pass out anytime. “Clara. I know she will not refuse me. I will go to her house and beg her to let me stay at her house just for a few days." I say to myself. Clara was the only one whom I knew in this town. She was my best friend before I ruined it all. But I know she still loves me a lot. So I w

  • THE REJECTION   After escaping from prison.

Sarah's POV.I wake up feeling a little better. But I was so hungry. I have not taken anything since yesterday. My stomach was rumbling so much. If I don't find anything to eat, I will definitely starve to death. My arm was feeling a bit better now. It wasn't painful like yesterday. I slowly get up, and I decide to check up the house. Maybe I will be lucky enough to find something to fill my stomach with. I manage to find an old fridge. I decide to open it and check it out. I find only two cans of soda. It's like the person who was living here had decided to vacate the place. Perhaps she got tired of staying in a place like this. It was so boring. There was no electricity and also no water. I don't know where she found water to use.“I am going to starve for sure if I continue staying here” I say as I take the two cans of soda. It was time to leave from here. I will do it now. I know the police are looking for me. And if I continue to stay here. They will find me easily. I find some
