It was late until evening before I was able to finish the entire chores. My tummy protested badly but I managed to keep the hunger at bay. I had acquired too many enemies and I just needed to behave myself. Maybe, just maybe, if I caution myself and prove my innocence, they might just let me be even if they won't let me live a healthy life.

I found my way to the quarters where the maids are and met most of them finished with their foods. All they did was sit down and chat away. Seeing that no one paid attention to me, I took a plate quietly and started to approach the section where the food was placed. Vivianne and one other maid stood at the other side of the section.

“Hi Vivianne,” I forced a smile out and held my tummy in place. “Can I please have something to eat?”

Her face held the same blank look it had. She only swayed her head back and forth, signifying a no. I was almost going crazy, crazy that if I didn't, I might die in my sleep.
