After Maxine left my room, my stomach growled with hunger. I didn't want to wait for Mira to bring my breakfast. Besides, I was getting too bored sitting idly in my room every day.

I moved softly down the staircase, having in mind to prepare my breakfast by myself. The house was unusually quiet for this time of day and I wondered if it was because of last night's incident.

The maids would usually be moving about, preparing the Alpha’s breakfast and sweeping through the hallways like ghosts.

But today, there was heaviness in the air.
