Dahlia has been having panic attacks for months now. Living with Ethan for eleven months and two weeks brought out the worst of her nightmares. She barely sleeps these days and is always sick.
In the entire eleven months she's lived with him, they've not shared more than ten sentences and she's usually the one talking. Eventually Dahlia found herself deeply in love with her husband even though she knew he was unfaithful to her.The woman she's found him with when she went to ask whether she could leave the premises became a constant in their home. It was as though she's moved into the villa with them while acting like the mistress of the house. Dahlia let that all happen. She's always in her room, thinking and depressing herself into oblivion. Things were not looking great. Not with Alice always throwing tantrums at her. Degrading her and making sure she's started questioning her self worth."You think Ethan is going to look at you twice? Fucking think again. My Ethan is only mine and no matter what you do, he's not going to be with you." She's told her one time in the kitchen while Dahlia was making coffee for herself."The both of you might be married to the world but everyone knows this was a sham. That you are a nobody and nobodys do not marry people like Ethan. Get that into you thick skull."“Move out of my way you ugly freak.”And Ethan had listened to her insulting her all the time, he never said a thing. It always broke her heart that he didn’t stand up for her but got used to it along the way.Time and time again she got thrown down and her love gets muddled in the face. Now just two weeks before their contact is over, Dahlia is getting more anxious about what is to come. She's got no plan whatsoever.Walking out of the bathroom after throwing up everything she's had the evening before, she slumped down on the bed and closed her eyes. This is the fifth time she's throwing up and she's asked Maria whether she needed a doctor or not. She is getting terrified. She called Maria into her room again, just to confirm if the appointment with a doctor is possible this morning. She cannot go another day without seeing a doctor or she'd die."Maria, have you spoken to the doctor? I don't feel too well today. In fact, I'm weaker today." Dahlia reclined back on the bed, her eyes closing on their own.Maria watched the mistress of the house with something akin to suspicion in her eyes. She's suspecting that the woman is with a fetus but she is not a doctor neither does she know anything in that field. It's just the signs she's seen in a lot of other women.Nevertheless she's booked an appointment with a doctor for her in a local hospital just outskirts of town. For some odd reasons she wanted to give the woman a bit of privacy not that she's now a celebrity or anything."The doctor's appointment is in an hour. Can you freshen up on your own or do you need my help?" Maria asked, removing the duvet from Dahlia's frail form."I can manage." With that she made her way to the en-suite and took a quick shower. They made it to the hospital where a middle aged man welcomed them with a warm smile. That was enough to make Dahlia emotional because it's been so long since anyone and stared at her with warmth. All the tests were conducted but right before they leave, the doctor insisted that she takes pregnancy test with over the counter pregnancy stick which she did and it came out positive much to her confusion. How could she be pregnant when she's ne—It dawned on her that she's had sex with Ethan on one of his drunken nights. She was already filled with desire for her husband and when he mistaken her for Alice, she allowed him because she was desperate for some sort of connection with him. She's enjoyed herself and left the next morning without waking him up.But it was only once and he doesn't even remember! What would he think about this baby?Dahlia started panicking on their way back home after the doctor confirmed that they will get the full results in the morning. She cannot tell Ethan this or he'd think this was a trap. He won't even believe the baby is his.Maria saw that and placed a hand on her shoulder, renting her some of her strength but Dahlia was already on the brink of tears so she broke down inside the cab. She cannot believe this was happening to her. She didn't think about it when she'd decided to sleep with him.Throughout the day Dahlia became a shell of herself, walking around like a robot. She's got only two weeks left being Ethan's wife but it doesn't matter. He won't believe her and she had rather keep moving with unknown consequences than be insulted. She won't have her baby's identity questioned from anybody, not even Ethan Caine himself.Maria walked into the room with a large tray filled with food but Dahlia didn't acknowledge her presence, too fixed in her own inner battles to realize what is going on in her surrounding."You need to have some food. If not for yourself then for the baby inside you." Maria pushed the tray in front of her but Dahlia shook her head."I don't feel like eating anything right now, Maria.""That's the thing! You don't have a choice in this matter now. It is not only about you, you know." Maria inserted in an exasperated voice, her eyes wide.Dahlia relented after much hassle and took a slice of cake that should've been the dessert. She mulled questions over her head for awhile then asked Maria."Do you think he will accept this baby?" Her tone was quiet, dead as she felt within."Who? Mr. Ethan?""Yes.""I don't know, Dahlia. I really do not know. Things are more complicated than we'd though. I know I shouldn't say this but I warned you against falling in love with him." Maria sighed, expression turning soft."I shouldn't have but the heart never listens. I love him so much. It always hurts seeing him with Alice." A tear slipped down her eyes but she continued."He will question me and my character. He won't remember the night we've spent together and when the result comes tomorrow, I will be shattered.""I'm sorry. I really am."Maria left the room an hour later after she's made sure Dahlia was sound asleep with the tray in her hand. She bumped into Alice outside the door and from all appearance, she's heard everything they talked about inside the room earlier. She panicked but Alice gave her that terrifying smile that made her stomach clench. This woman is not nice at all. She's been dealing with her for a while to know what sort of danger she is to any person she hates.Alice's hand touched Maria's long brunette hair. "Don't panic, sweetheart, there is nothing to worry about. I just want us to chat a bit."Maria wasn't having it though, her voice shook when she asked. "About what?""This little conversation you had with that stupid girl inside. It's going to be brief so let's finish it here, hmm?" Alice continued playing with Maria's hair in a jeering way."Okay." Came her small whisper."I want you to make sure Ethan never finds out that the baby is his. That is one. And ensure that she never tells him about the baby being his no matter what happens since she listens to you. It is going to be for both your sakes. You won't like what will happen if she mistakenly tries to say anything about that night. Understood?" Alice yelled the last word making the other girl to jump on her feet."Yes, Ma'am. I'll make sure she never says a thing about it." Maria shrunk away from Alice who smiled manically at that."Good. And help pack her clothes because she is leaving Ethan for good by tomorrow morning." Alice turned around to leave then stopped to talk some more."And if you breath a word about this to anybody, I mean anybody, you're done for." Her stilettos were the last sounds Maria heard before she leaned against the wall. She's seen first hand how Alice ruined the lives of housemaids because they didn't do as she wanted. She will protect both herself and Dahlia from this evil woman no matter what it takes.Dahlia awoke to some loud noise from downstairs and knew something must be going on. Standing up from the bed, she quietly walked to the door and peeked outside only to come up empty. She went to the stairs with tentative steps while her heart pounded. For some odd reasons, she feels like something is going on and it has everything to do with her just that she doesn’t know what that is. It is terrible though, she could feel it chilling her bones while she walked. There is no doubt one of the voices belonged to Alice and the other Ethan’s younger sister, Maxine. She’s been terrorizing her for the entire year but only once or twice a month. She was there just few days ago so what is she doing in the house again? Dahlia is not at all curious knowing all the wrathful stuff going downstairs is going to be dumped on her head. A sigh escaped her but she continued to trudge down the stairs, blood rushing to her ears as her heart banged beneath her chest. She won’t like this at all. Bracin
Taking off her coat, Dahlia hang it on the coat rack beside her office door then walked further inside her five inches pumps hitting the floor as she takes controlled steps to the chair in front of the glass window that takes an entire wall behind. Keeping her bag on the desk, she sat down on the executive swivel chair and turned on her laptop. Her eyes moved around the numbers on her screen before she narrowed them. Something is missing and whoever it was that messed with her will pay. She dialed her assistant’s intercom number and waited for a few seconds before he picked up, his voice stern and austere like she’s always liked it. She doesn’t want meek assistants, they don’t just fit in her plans. “To my office now.” She said and hung up her own intercom and sharpened her attention on her laptop. Caleb walked inside looking smart in his dark blue pants and white shirt tucked in his pants, a tie perfectly situated around his neck. He stood by the desk waiting for her to finish wh
Ethan walked down the short corridor that leads to his office while checking his wristwatch. He’s got a meeting with Mr. Crowe in about an hour and though he’s got some pressing issues to deal with, he felt compelled to be at this meeting. Something is drawing him in and he’s always followed his instincts. Immediately he settled on his massive executive chair, his secretary waltzed in swaying her hips from one side to the other hoping for attention from the former playboy. Ethan has changed and everyone could see that though no one knows why he’s changed so much. He unbuttoned his onyx Armani suit and sat down checking his recent emails while his secretary rambled on about his meeting and the schedule for the day. His personal assistant is on maternity leave so his secretary decided to take her place for the time being. He’s regretting it. “That’s all for the day, sir.” She added in a sultry tone hoping he’d at least glance up and see her see through red shirt but he didn’t and ins
“Yeah, make sure things are done properly. I’ve got the jewelry’s backup from my other Mac.” Dahlia said into the phone to her assistant whom she’s left at the office to attend this meeting. She explained everything to him while feeling her chauffeur’s presence beside the door he’s opened for her. There are two other cars behind them waiting to move forward but she’s blocking them and she’s not about to walk out of the car talking on phone. When she’s done, she reapplied her little red lipstick and decide that it’s time to get things done and over with. She’s finally going to meet Ethan Caine after several years and she doesn’t know what to really feel about it. Settling her scarlet Stuart Weitzman pumps onto the ground before fully emerging in her white formal Chanel dress featuring keyhole neckline and cuff sleeves. The dress feel shortly above her knees, in her hand is a red Bottega Veneta tote bag. She’s wearing red and white colour combination because of how great she always
Mr. Crowe was obviously confused and perplexed as to what was going on and had no idea what to say to them. What do you say to two powerful people wanting your company? He wracked his brain to get back his business mind in track and it came a moment later. Passing them both a smile seeing as they were not going to sit down, he stood up and adjusted his suit. Licking his lips, Mr. Crowe stopped himself last minute from rubbing his hands together. This is some good business he’s about to get. Why the hell not? It seems like the duo have a history between them and one won’t let the other win, he will use it against them. That is how business usually works. Either they have a past or they heard about one another and want to put each other in place. “I heard all your proposals and each of them sound wonderful. I won’t mind either of you buying the company, your business strategies are acute.” He paused for effect watching as the board members nod their heads at that. “Now back to the
Ethan raked a hand through his hair several times, his expression murderous and his employees knew not to cross him that morning because all hell would break loose. He paced the length of his office, nostrils flaring in anger and frustration with questions. He plopped himself down on the chair thinking hard about the woman he’s met today in the elevator and the woman that fought for that contract until she won it with her sickly sweet smile, bland eyes and amazing negotiation skills that made him still. He would’ve won the whole thing but because he wanted to see her in action –for one it turned him on so fucking much– and know where her business strategy is located just in case she decides to buy the same company he wanted in the future. Ethan had no idea he was going to ever meet his ex wife. Not now. Not ever. The way she vanished from the face of earth five years ago without a single trace, he was sure she was found dead in some ally and no one knows who she was. He’s scraped t
As she settled everything into place, she extended her arms wide, allowing herself to become enveloped by the warmth of the sun. The notion of a vacation had remained distant ever since she had embarked on her business journey years ago, yet here she was at last, prompted by Aiden's insistent desire to visit Bali.Adorned in a tasteful two-piece bikini, she reclined along the secluded shore of the cottage she had secured for the week. A conscious decision had been made to shelve all things related to phones during this dedicated period with her son. The sole purpose of this time was to be fully present for him.Aiden playfully maneuvered his way to her side, his head resting gently against her chest, inducing a tender smile to grace her lips. Her fingers wove through his dark brow hair—a trait inherited from his father—as she planted a soft kiss on his forehead.Ethan had, over time, extinguished any remnants of romantic notions, leaving her heart a casualty along the way. For most, h
He found himself lying in bed, caught in a restless cycle of tossing and turning, as sleep had eluded him for several consecutive nights. Over the past few days, his slumber had become a frustrating ordeal, with him struggling to muster even a mere two hours of rest within a full day. The culprit behind this sleeplessness was painfully obvious, yet he stubbornly refused to acknowledge it. Frustration finally drove him to rise from the confines of his bed, prompting him to revisit the private beach that had initially drawn him to this cottage rental. Earlier in the day, he had inked a business deal that, on paper, represented a substantial windfall in the form of millions of dollars. However, the expected joy that should accompany such an achievement remained elusive. As he approached the serene beach, his gaze fixated on the vast expanse of the ocean, but his eyes lacked the usual spark of enthusiasm. His thoughts were in disarray, tangled in a web of conflicting emotions that lef
