As the mist was getting closer I could feel the goosebumps rising on my skin and the hair stand up on the back of my neck. "Shift now. Something isn't right." I say. "Agreed. You go first." Tyler says. So I had to block everything else out. I concentrated to picture myself with paws and a snout and fur and then it started happening. I let out a scream when the first bone broke and rearranged and then the next and the next. It took about 10 minutes for me to shift which was really painful but as soon as it was over, Tyler shifted in seconds and we both took off into the woods. We were headed back to our pack territory but I could feel that black mist following us. Tyler was trying to stay behind me but I didn't know how he planned on fighting it off. We could barely see it. It wasn't an actual being to fight. "I said, what the fuck are you doing here Adam?" Tyler growled out with a really pissed off look on his face. I stood next to the stairs with Aria and Bella while Cade and Carter were just behind us. Tyler was looking between me and Adam who was still on the floor and I was waiting for Adam to say something. When I realized that he wasn't going to say anything at all then I was about to open my mouth. "I owe them a lot of money." Adam blurted out. And I looked at him curiously. "What?" Tyler asked confused. "Tessa heard me on the phone this morning. I was telling her not to tell you. But she heard me and it was a loan shark. I got into gambling and I owe this guy a lot of money. That's why mom and dad kicked me out. They were sick of covering my ass. So I came here. You've got enough money to help me." Adam explained standing up. By this point we had gathered quite an audience of not just our friends but warriors that heard the commotion and came in to see what was going on. "So, that's why you're here. TESSA POV Adam had been in town for a week now and things had been going pretty good. Tyler and him haven't had any more run ins which was a good sign. Adam was behaving himself and grudgingly taking the jobs that Tyler was assigning him to. And they really were the worst jobs in town. And I was started to get back into fighting form. Tyler was finally waking up early enough to come jogging with me. And I was now able to do one and a half laps of the territory which I was actually happy about. It was about time I was improving. And when we got back to the packhouse Adam was just leaving for work. "Have fun on council duty today." Tyler says. "You have me picking up litter and emptying the public bins in town. How the hell can I have fun with that?" Adam asked. "I don't know. Make the most of it." Tyler smirked and pulled me into the house. "You know, if you keep mocking him like that then he is going to resent you even more and you two will be in each other's faces again." I say.

Tyler got the sheriff from the nearest human town to come to the crime scene and he was a middle-aged man with a severe beer belly and was nothing to be desired around these muscled werewolves. "I don't know who he is. He doesn't have any ID." Tyler said to sheriff Miller as they approached the scene. "Oh yeah. His name is Donny. I know him. He's pretty popular around my station house." The sheriff said. "Well, no matter what he did, he didn't deserve this. My coroner has already been here. He determined the cause of death to be blunt force trauma and that he's been dead roughly 6 hours." Tyler explained. "Thanks. Obviously I will have to get my coroner to look at him so that it's legit. And we have to move him off pack lands." Sheriff Miller says. "Yeah. These men are here waiting to help you." Tyler says. Tyler called for two warriors to take Adam to the dungeon and don't take their eyes off of him. He is to stay there until Tyler tells them otherwise. And after they took Adam I sat on the couch still in shock. "Did you actually feel an Alpha aura coming off of me?" I asked. "No. It was something different. It was powerful.
