Chapter Twelve

The awkward tension between Matt and Doris was so thick it could be cut through with scissors. Doris has not said a word to Matthew since the incident at the bathroom, replying to his questions was only a one-word answer. Nevertheless, it seemed that Matt did not care. He was okay with her silence, perhaps if she said something it might fuel the feeling of guilt he already had. 

They were going to join Williams Shade and his family for a game of golf later. Doris was hesitant to go at first. After a while, she realized that staying in the room alone would only make her keep thinking about what happened in the bathroom last night.

She accepted Matthew's invitation, much to his delight.
