Three Years Later...

Doris  POV

“Mummy, I can't find my slippers...” Daniel whined again for the third time in one minute.

I sighed softly and tried to keep my temper in check. These children would not lead me to my untimely end.

“Have you checked your room properly?” I asked, knowing how lazy he could be whenever he's been instructed to do something. Especially, if that job was against his will.

“Yes, and David too. We didn't see anything.” he passed a glance at his twin brother.

I could drill the truth out of David if I wanted to. However, my older son was too softhearted and I did not want to put him in a tight spot where he had no choice but to either betray his brother and tell me the truth, or lie to me to protect his brother.
