Doris regained consciousness the next day. She learnt from the nurse that her sister had gone out earlier and that her babies were okay although not completely out of danger.
She was glad to set her eyes on the light of day again not to talk of the trauma she experienced yesterday. She closed her eyes and shook her head to clear the thoughts running through her mind. She refused to believe that Matthew could go to such extent just to have his revenge on her.
She always expected to be punished for her sins, but she never imagined that spending her time in jail would be the punishment he saw fit. She realized that she would not serve the punishment alone, her children were surely going to be affected.
