Something within Miyal had shifted. The binding was breaking.

Krishna's name. his armor.

And Perfera sensed it—like the morning sun through the fissures of her immaculate world.

"You're nothing without me."

He took a step back from her.

"No," Miyal said. "Without you, I recall who I truly am."

Perfera's features contorted, eyes burning with rage. Her voice was as deadly as the edge of a dagger.

"Krishna is dead," she snarled. "Burned. Finished. And don't you even think about comparing me to her. I was there with you when she went off to play martyr. I saved you. I held on. I am your Luna now, and I have every right to make choices for this pack!"

Miyal slowly turned, the gravity of the room settling into his back. His fists curled, nails biting into flesh.

"You believe titles grant you authority?" he replied, his tone even—but brewing. "You believe that you can kill the innocent simply because you say you are Luna? That is not leadership. That is madness."

She advanced, unwavering. "S

Perfera's eyes flamed. The room darkened."Don't you dare lecture me about goddesses, you burned the last one alive."The silence that followed struck like a sword to the belly. The soldiers… froze.Even the torches seemed to sputter less.Miyal's breath left him slowly. "You talk as if you weren't there."Perfera's voice was colder now. Measured."I talk as someone who saw the price."Miyal stepped forward.“You speak like a daughter of Vosvak.”That stopped her cold. Her hands twitched. For a heartbeat, the mask cracked.“You don’t know what you’re saying,” she said, almost too quietly.“Don’t I?” Miyal asked, pulling something from his cloak , Vosvak’s confession, the blood-right seal etched across the page.Perfera’s breath hitched.“I should’ve seen it,” Miyal murmured. “The magic. The ambition. The cruelty wrapped in silk.”He threw the parchment on the ground in front of the soldiers. They stared."You're not the Luna we required."Perfera's rage was quiet, lethal."You're too

Citadel War Room – Midnight HourThe air reeked of smoke, blood, and desperation.Maps were torn to pieces on the strategy table. Pins of lost territory smeared in red. Outside the thick obsidian walls, the ringing of steel and wailing beasts ripped at the quiet like death at the door.Trophies limped in and out of the room, vacant eyes, shaking arms, most too worn to utter a single word. Some carried wounded, others simply fell to their knees, armor dented and smeared with black bile. The war room was no longer a room of plans, but a tomb in the making.Then.SLAM.The war room doors burst open.Perfera burst in, her cloak ablaze with embers of the magical wards that writhed about her in angry throbs. Her hair was unbound. Her eyes were violet and killer's eyes, glowing with fury and darkness of purpose.Miyal leaned against the table, sleeves rolled high, gauntlets splashed with other blood but not his own. His haughty position had collapsed beneath the weight of duty and shame. The

Hidden Sanctuary – Brunschiere ForestUnder the Silverroot Trees, DuskThe wind breathed through the ancient canopy, disturbing the violet leaves of Brunschiere's towering trees. The sanctuary shone with soft blue runes etched into bark, glinting like stars spilled across wood and moss. A soft mist hung on the forest floor, scented with crushed herbs and spell-drenched soil.Krishna knelt beside a stone basin, stirring crushed wolfsbane and moonflower nectar together in a rich golden potion. Her fingers moved with ease — but something trembled in her breath. She hesitated. The pestle slipped a little in her hand.Outside the clearing, the laughter of children danced on the air. Elders sang. Elves, wizards, and wild kinfolk moved about in peace. But Krishna's hand hung over the bowl… suspended.A whisper wove the wind.Faint. Far away."Forgive us. Return… save us…"Her spine locked hard. A quiver ran through her ribs like ice water down a flame. The potion started bubbling abnormally.

The merciful witch. The soul they had flung into fire… now pleaded to come back from it.Miyal was at the parapet's edge, wind shrieking through his armor. His knuckles were white on the hilt of his sword, but he didn't move to draw it.Before him, the night was dissolving. The barricades groaned under monstrous weight. Guards screamed. Flames died. And in the midst of chaos… he heard it.Not the monsters. Not Perfera's icy commands. But his people. In the depths of muck and ruin — mothers, fathers, children — begging the heavens."Please forgive us… Come back… Come back and save us…"People continue to begThe words pierced deeper than any knife.Miyal's breath hitched. He gazed down at them — the very people he had vowed to defend, now kneeling in ash and grime, not reaching for him, their Alpha… but for her.Krishna.The one they had damned. The one he had allowed to burn. His chest heaved with a ragged breath. The fire below flared, illuminating the destruction in red and gold — a

"And inform the elders," she said, nearly softly, "that I am not to be disturbed again except in case the citadel is afire."The attendant nodded fearfully and left, closing doors behind him.Perfera was alone once more when she went back to her mirror. She stretched out, and this time — she didn't whisper. She ordered."Show me her again."But the mirror didn't show.No image. No flicker.Nothing.Perfera's face contorted. She smashed both hands on the glass. "Show me!"Still, the mirror didn't obey. Not from shattered magic. But from defiance.Perfera stood in front of the mirror again, robes flowing around her like smoke. The room throbbed with dark power, the pages of the forbidden book waving in the unnatural breeze. The mirror was still black — but this time, she didn't care. She laughed. Light at first. Growing louder."Hah… Hahaha…"Her laughter barked off the stone walls like the laughter of an advancing storm.I guessed it. Krishna is really dead," she declared, combing her

Crescent Citadel – Lower Archive, NightfallThe wind screamed down the dusty halls as Miyal made his way deep into the belly of the Citadel. Torch flames danced across ancient walls inscribed with runes lost to the ages — except for one name spoken only in shame:Vosvak Spade. The forbidden archives were closed. Only an Alpha might open the vault. And even so, the room protested — as if the stones themselves recalled the heretic who had trod here before.Miyal's hand hovered over the etched sigil on the heavy iron door.Perfera.Who are you truly? He pressed his palm to the glyph. It throbbed — once, then cracked open like a dying breath. The scent within was dust and bloodroot ink. Piles of parchments. Scrolls concealed in iron tubes. Books bound from monsters unknown in generations. He lit a lantern and acted quickly. His time was short. He opened the first book. Genealogies of Bloodlines in Exile. The Spade crest — a serpent eating its tail — was emblazoned on the spine.Pages were
