SELENA POV

“I killed you, Selena.”

Kaelen's confession hung between them as the figures emerging from beneath the throne watched without moving. Selena searched his silver eyes for the truth, but all she found was a grief so deep that it seemed to have outlived the kingdom itself.

“Why?” she asked.

Kaelen lowered his head.

“Because you begged me to.”

The crown tightened against her forehead, sending a sharp pain through her skull. Selena gripped the edge of the throne as another memory forced i

  • THE SLAVE THAT STOLE THE ALPHA'S HEART.   The Sin I Cannot Remember

SELENA’S POV“Ask Selena what she did to our daughter before I killed her.”Ian's black eyes fixed on me.I couldn't breathe. The voice coming from his mouth belonged to the thing inside him, but the accusation was directed at me.I had spent the last few minutes trying to understand whether Ian had killed our daughter. Now I was being told I had played a part in her death, too.“What is it talking about?” I whispered.Ian's fingers tightened around my wrist. For a moment, I thought he was going to hurt me. Then I saw the struggle in his face. He was fighting to regain control, and whatever lived inside him was fighting just as hard to keep it.“Selena,” he rasped, “get away from me.”I pulled against his grip.“Let go of my hand.”His fingers opened immediately. He stumbled backward, striking the wall with his shoulder. His breathing was uneven, and the black veins beneath his skin had reached his jaw.I wanted to help him.I also wanted answers.“What did I do to Mira?” I demanded.

  • THE SLAVE THAT STOLE THE ALPHA'S HEART.   The Man I Still Wanted

SELENA'S POV“You buried our daughter once, Ian. This time, I'll make you watch her die.”The voice inside Ian's body made my blood run cold.He dropped to his knees, clutching his chest as black veins spread beneath his skin.I rushed toward him.“Ian!”“Stay back!” he shouted.I froze. His eyes lifted to mine, filled with a fear I had never seen in him before.“Please, Selena. Don't come near me.”The plea hurt more than his command.I wanted to hold him. I wanted to believe the man I loved would never deliberately harm our child. But Mira's accusation kept echoing in my head. You held me while I died.I couldn't forget those words.“Did you kill her?” I asked.Ian squeezed his eyes shut.“I don't remember.”“Look at me and tell me you wouldn't have done it willingly.”He opened his eyes.“I can't promise you something about a life I don't remember. But I can promise you this: if that thing inside me tries to hurt you, I will fight it until I have nothing left.”“And Mira?”His lips

  • THE SLAVE THAT STOLE THE ALPHA'S HEART.   The Daughter We Buried

SELENA’S POV“Mother, why did you let Father kill me?”The child's voice shattered the silence.I stared at the little hand reaching through the broken crown. It was covered in blood, and the black mark on its palm matched the one spreading across Ian's chest. My daughter. The words refused to make sense.“I never had a child,” I whispered. The girl withdrew her hand.“You forgot me.”Ian fell forward with a strangled cry. I caught his shoulders as the black veins crept toward his face.“Selena, don't answer her!” he gasped. The child laughed.“Father still doesn't remember what he did.”The crown split wider.A small girl crawled out of the broken metal and landed on the stone floor. She looked about six years old, with silver eyes, dark curls, and a thin scar beneath her left ear.I had seen that scar before. It was on my own skin.I touched the spot beneath my ear. My fingers came away trembling.“What's your name?” I asked. The girl's expression hardened.“You gave me a name befor

  • THE SLAVE THAT STOLE THE ALPHA'S HEART.   The Soul Buried Inside The Crown

SELENA’S POV“Tell her the truth, Mother. Tell her whose soul you placed inside the crown.”The voice sounded exactly like mine.Yet I had never spoken those words. The silver crown hovered above the floor, its cracked surface glowing red. Every time the voice echoed through the chamber, the mark on Ian’s chest darkened.I tightened my grip on his hand.“Mother?” I whispered. “Who is speaking through the crown?”The ancient Queen stared at the glowing metal. Her face had lost all its color.“Step away from it, Selena.”“Not until you answer me.”“You don't understand what you're asking.”“Then help me understand!”My voice shook with anger. For centuries, someone had decided what I was allowed to remember, whom I was allowed to love, and which truths I was strong enough to face.I was finished being protected by lies. The Queen lowered her eyes.“I didn't place the first King's soul inside the crown.”A cold silence followed.Ian slowly pushed himself upright beside me.“Then whose so

  • THE SLAVE THAT STOLE THE ALPHA'S HEART.   The Murderer Behind my memories

SELENA’S POV“Now you remember why I had to kill him before he could tell you who really murdered your King.”The silver-haired stranger stood inside the circle of light, watching me as if he had waited centuries for those words to reach my ears.I wanted to remember.I wanted to understand why Ian had been holding a black crown while I drove a sword into the heart of the man I had loved before him.But every time I reached for the memory, something inside my head pulled away.“Who are you?” I demanded. “And why do you keep speaking as though you know me better than I know myself?”His scar tightened as he smiled.“You knew me once, Selena. You trusted me enough to turn your back on me.”“That isn't an answer.”“No,” he agreed. “It is the beginning of one.”Beside me, Ian struggled to stand. Blood darkened his shirt where the false version of him had wounded him, but his eyes remained fixed on the stranger.“Don't listen to him,” Ian warned. The man laughed softly.“Still protecting h

  • THE SLAVE THAT STOLE THE ALPHA'S HEART.   The Crown Knows My Name

SELENA'S POVEvery statue in the chamber bowed toward me, and the silver crown hovered above my head as though it had been waiting for my return.I stepped back, but the crown followed, its sharp points reflecting the blood on my hands.“I don't want it,” I said, looking toward the ancient Queen. “Take it away.”She tightened her grip on her staff, yet she made no attempt to approach me.“The crown doesn't accept refusal from its rightful owner.”“Then it chose the wrong woman.”The crown dropped until its cold edge brushed my hair, and a strange pressure settled behind my eyes. I saw a throne room filled with kneeling wolves, a silver-haired man standing beside me, and Ian lying motionless at the foot of the throne.I reached for him in the vision, but the silver-haired man caught my wrist.“If you save him again, the kingdom will fall.”I tore my hand away, and the vision disappeared.Ian was still lying on the floor, struggling to sit up despite the blood spreading across his shirt
