DRACO.

“Damn it! What do you need?” I growled at Liam as soon as I opened the door with such force.

“I have the security video…”

“Can’t you fucking wait?” I snapped at him.

“I am waiting, but Beta Roman also keeps calling!” He brushed a hand over his hair, and I saw frustration on his face, and there was something more. He looked terrified. I forgot Liam was new to this job. Although I was aware that he knew how dark and messy my businesses were, he was never a part of it. And this was the first time he saw me face a threat and kill a person. “I… don’t fucking know what to do next!”

In all honesty, he did great earlier and didn’t show any fear. He might be physically capable, but I needed to toughen and train him more if I wanted him to remain as my Delta.

“Roman asked me to get a signal from you to start beating Constantine and his men. He said you don’t need to be there.”

“Constantine is mine. We’ll leave soon.” I pointed a finger at his chest. “You will come with me, but call Tribu

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 74

DRACO.FLASHBACK. Earlier at Dr. Alessio’s Clinic.“How much more blood do you need from her?” I asked Alessio, annoyed that he was sticking another needle into her for the third time. “Can’t you stop with your many questions?” He chuckled without looking at me.“I want to make sure you are not taking more than you need.”“Is he always this annoying?” He asked Iris in a low voice but I heard him. “Uhm… He’s your cousin, so you should know him better.”“He wasn’t like this with Felicity.”“So, did it mean you also checked Felicity?” Iris asked. Her innocent face was waiting expectantly for Alessio to reply. And the fucking doctor stopped what he was doing and smiled at her before responding, like I didn’t exist. Like he had no idea the woman he was smiling at was my fiancée. “Yep. She had a problem with her wolf when she came, but like magic, after a few days…”“Can you not talk about her? I’m here, in case you both are not aware.” I said in a cold tone, my eyes focused on Iris, who

  • THE SUBSTITUTE LUNA   Chapter 73

IRIS.The drive from Tricia’s cell to the house was quiet, aside from the time he asked me what had happened. I told him everything she had told me and what she had agreed upon with Constantine. I asked him what he planned to do with her and if I had any say in the decision. He told me we could discuss it once he had finished with the things he needed to attend to at the Central Hall. So I assumed that would be once he came home tonight. But along the way, he slipped that they had not given her any food or drinks since she was put in that cell. My heart ached for her, so I requested that she have some water if he really didn’t want to give her anything to eat. I didn’t want to compare, and I didn’t tell him either, but I knew how it felt to be locked up without any food. Draco didn’t say anything about it, so I let it rest. I would ask him again tonight once he had dealt with what he needed to do at the Central Hall, as I had already delayed him. We reached home, and he walked me

IRIS. “Luna Iris, please… forgive me…” Tricia was slumped to the ground, with the bars of her cell between us. Her face was wet with tears as she looked up at me. She looked too far from the arrogant woman who had been rude to me from day one. With how puffy her eyes and swollen her face were, I could assume she had been crying since last night. After my session with Dr. Alessio this afternoon, Draco mentioned he needed to go back to the Central Hall, so I thought he would not take me to her. I didn’t bother asking, as I never wanted to demand anything from him. But instead of going home, the car took us to a building I had never been to. And that was where she was. Her prison cell looked decent and clean compared to what I imagined. She had a small room and her own toilet inside her cell. But I was certain that this was a far cry from the luxury she had grown accustomed to. Draco didn’t accompany me inside. He waited at the lobby and let Liam take me to her. I had no idea why, b

IRIS. I felt my cheeks burning. I shouldn’t be embarrassed in front of him, as we had been intimate too many times, but I couldn’t help it. “If you can work without a shirt, that would be nice, but only if no one comes here and you are locked in this room with me.” I tried to act as if his nakedness didn’t faze me.He chuckled as he slipped his shirt on. “Then a shirt is a must. I have to work. There are many things to settle before we leave.” He walked toward me and bent a little, his crooked finger touching the tip of my chin and tilting my head a bit more up. Once I was looking straight into his eyes, he let go of my face, and I felt tingling and electricity spreading from my breasts to everywhere in my body. He was brushing his finger against my nipple, and even with my satin pajama covering it, it became erect and hard in an instant. “But once we are in the north, I can stay naked in our room or anytime you want.”I swallowed and gasped for air. My words abandoned me as I reve

IRIS.My body stirred awake when the sound of a vehicle reached my ears. My lashes fluttered before I could completely open my eyes and stare at the dark ceiling. And then I remembered why I kept the window open—so I could hear if any car entered the house grounds. I did my best to stay up last night, hoping I would still be awake when Draco came home, but I eventually fell asleep. I had no idea what time it was, but I shoved the blanket away from my body and stood up. I peered through the window, and I was right. He had arrived home. I saw that he had only been dropped off by someone, and the car drove away. He entered the house alone. I opened my bedroom door so I would hear if he walked along the corridor. But even after I had brushed my teeth, he hadn’t shown up on our floor. He was probably in his office. It was already four in the morning. I waited for another ten minutes, and when nothing happened, I put on my robe and decided to check on him. The whole house was still qu
