CHAPTER 4

THE PARTY

I was shocked when he said that.

But looking at him, he wasn’t himself anymore; man is fucking hard.

I was done dressing and was about to leave; he dragged me back and gave me a soft kiss on the lips. That was my first ever kiss, and it was so cool.

“We should meet again,” he whispered.

I smiled and left his office. As I walked out, I went straight to where I was sitting and sat down.

“Why are you smiling? You took time,” Rain asked.

“Maybe the process took time, I don’t know.”

“Okay,” she responded.

The doctor came out with our results and handed them over to our mom.

“Let’s go,” mom said, and we followed her to the car.

There was silence in the car as mom was reading the results; when she was done, she folded the papers and put them in her bag.

“I guess you’re satisfied now,” I said.

“Zoe,” Rain called me. I looked at her and didn’t say a word.

At that point, the whole thing didn’t make any sense to me anymore, because who checks their children’s virginity?

I mean, it’s our body.

“Watch your tone,” mom responded.

“You should learn to mind your business, maybe then I will watch my tone.”

We had already driven out, so she stepped on the brakes immediately.

She looked at me in disbelief.

“Zoe, are you talking to me?” she asked.

“Mom, if Rain is not going to say anything, at least someone has to tell you.

I’m sure your mom never did this to you, so why do it to us?”

“Zoe, that’s enough,” Rain said to me, making eye contact.

“Girls, I’m sorry. I don’t want you girls going astray at a young age, this is me trying to protect”

“Protect… you call this protection, by invading our privacy? Oh, please,” I interrupted her.

“You know what, we should go home.” She drove off immediately.

Until we got home, the three of us were silent.

As we arrived, I got down from the car immediately and went to my room.

Rain followed me.

“Baby, what was that?”

“If you’re here to question me about anything, you can leave my room and close the door after you.”

“Seriously? You just disrespected mom, and that’s not fair.”

“Okay,” I replied, lying on my bed, turning my back to her, and starting pressing my phone.

The door opens.

I thought Rain was leaving, but it was mom.

“I don’t want you girls to start having trouble because of my decision. Look, girls, I’m sorry.”

“It’s fine, mom,” Rain responded.

She came closer and sat on the bed, rubbing my leg.

“Baby, did you hear me?” she asked.

“Okay,” I responded.

The room was silent for a few seconds.

Then I got up, and we looked at each other.

“It’s fine, it just didn’t make sense.”

“I know, and I’m sorry. Come here.” She held Rain’s hand as she came close; she hugged the both of us.

“I will go make lunch.” She left.

“Zoe, you have a high level of anger issues in you,” Rain said jokingly. We both laughed.

“You said something about a party.”

“Yeah, Daisy and I are going.”

“You should be careful. What are you wearing?”

I quickly got up, opened my wardrobe, and brought out my black short bubble skirt and a white sleeveless pin-down, with my black Nike sneakers.

“Girl, you’re going to dress to kill.”

“I know, right?” I smiled.

“So what’s the plan?” she asked.

“Nothing much, just be there to open the gate for me when I come back.”

“I got you.”

We slept off after talking.

Mom woke us up for dinner that evening.

As I grabbed my phone, Daisy had already dropped a text: “Don’t forget and get ready, look pretty.”

I smiled and went out for dinner.

After eating, I went to my room to bathe and started getting ready.

Mom usually sleeps around 9:00 pm, so 10:00 pm was perfect.

Rain helped me to check if mom was fast asleep, and yes, she had slept.

I was done getting ready, so I texted Daisy, and she was already on her way with her man.

Rain quickly opened the doors for me.

Daisy arrived at my gate and dropped a message: “I’m here.”

I responded: “Coming.”

And I sneaked out of the house.

“Don’t get high,” Rain murmured.

When we got to the venue, bouncers were standing at the door, but they allowed us to pass because of Daisy’s boyfriend.

The music was loud, and it was my first time in a club. We sat at the VIP corner.

“What would you like?” Daisy asked.

“I don’t know, anything is fine.”

She ordered a bottle of André wine, with 10% alcohol in it.

She opened it, poured it into my glass and hers; her boyfriend ordered a whiskey.

From where I was sitting, I was seeing different guys and girls dancing and having fun, guys were spraying money.

I excused myself to use the restroom; I was pressed.

On getting to the restroom, I mistakenly spilled a drink on a guy's shirt. I wasn’t looking; probably I was distracted by the noise of people having sex in the restroom.

“Omg, I’m so sorry,” trying to clean his shirt.

He held my hand. “Don’t worry, pretty, it’s fine.”

And guess who? That’s my I*******m crush right there!

“You…”

“You look pretty,” he said, interrupting me. I didn’t know how to act or feel at the moment.

“Are you with someone?” he added.

I shook my head, giving him a signal of no.

“I errr... I actually came with my friend and her boyfriend.”

“Can I borrow you tonight? Be my girlfriend  tonight.”

Gosh, I was so excited hearing it.
