CASSAIN

I step out of the training arena as the day's wind blows against my skin, but it does nothing to cool the inferno inside me. Having Evelessa back has calmed but then again, I feel absolutely restless which indicates something is about to happen which is why I am at this time of the night, at the arena trying to calm my nerves.

My wolf snarls inside me as I roll my shoulders, trying to shake off the restless energy vibrating through my body after tonight’s match.

EVELESSA "I feel so lost."Classes ended hours ago, but I’m still sitting on the stone bench outside the academy gardens, staring at the fountain like it’s going to suddenly explain my life to me.Water spills gently from the marble statue in the center. The sound should be comforting but it rather irritates me.I twist the silver bead in my hair between my fingers.I am once again a mother. In both pregnancy circumstances, I had absolutely no say, I believed I'd never have kids yet I have six now.Four additional boys.Four children that came from eggs my body produced when I was… something else.A mer.I still don’t know how to process that sentence.Footsteps crunch softly on the gravel path.I don’t need to look up to know who it is.Michael.My father. He stops in front of me, hands in his pockets.“You’ve been avoiding me.”I sigh.“I’ve been thinking.”“That’s usually dangerous.”I glance up at him.He smiles faintly. It doesn’t reach his eyes.“Sit,” I say.He sits beside me

SEBASTIAN The video plays again on the large screen in my office.Loud music.Flashing lights.A crowded nightclub. And then Cassain storms in like a jealous husband ready to burn the building down.I lean back in my chair, fingers steepled beneath my chin.Across from me, three of my advisers watch silently.Marcus finally breaks the silence.“So,” he says carefully, “this is the great King?”I don’t answer immediately.Instead I replay the moment where Cassain grabs the man who touched Evelessa. The rage in his eyes. The way the entire room seems to shrink around him.Marcus snorts.“He nearly killed a civilian.”“Over a woman.”Victor chuckles darkly beside him.“That’s not a king.”“That’s a man in love.”I pause the video. The screen freezes on Evelessa’s face.Silver hair glowing beneath the club lights.Strange beads woven through the strands.Even in a grainy recording…She looks dangerous.Beautiful.Untouchable.I stand slowly.“You’re both wrong,” I say quietly.Marcus fr

CASSAIN I hate meetings because they never seem to end yet here I am, stuck once more in a meeting. My office looks like a meeting room with war generals but it might as well be like that since it's been days any of us slept well last.Sebastian’s people continues attacking different territories. Political pressure from every side. The sea council demanding to see our boys.....I lean back in my chair, rubbing my temples.“Let me get this straight,” I say slowly. “You’re telling me three different supply routes were attacked in the same night.”General Ortiz nods.“Yes.”“Coincidence?”“No.”Lucianexhales through his nose.“Sebastian is testing your defenses.”I stare at the map projected on the wall.Red dots mark each attack.Testing.That’s exactly what it looks like.My phone buzzes on the table.I ignore it.Lucian glances at me.“You might want to check that.”“I’m busy.”It buzzes again. Then again.I sigh and pick it up.A message from one of my security guards.Sir… Eveless

  • THE TRIBID HOCKEY GOD & HIS OBSESSION   CHAPTER 102: BOREDOM

EVELESSA "Pftt...I'm bored..."I’ve been bored all week.Classes have been painfully dull.No assassins. No supernatural disasters. No sudden revelations about ancient sea councils trying to kidnap me again.Just lectures, assignments and Cassain hovering like an overprotective father. So by Friday evening, I’ve had enough.I find Aretha first. She’s sitting on my dorm room couch scrolling through her tablet, her long legs crossed like she’s the having the best time of her life.I lean against the doorframe.“We’re going out.”She doesn’t look up.“No.”“Yes.”“No.”“Yes.”She sighs slowly and glances at me as she notices the hoop earrings and short dress I have on.“You look like trouble.”“That’s because I’m bored.”“That’s worse.”“I need entertainment.”She raises an eyebrow.“You’re the kind of person who defines entertainment as violence.”“That’s not true.”“Last time you said that we ended up fighting sea demons.”“They started it.”Aretha sighs again.“Where exactly are we g

EVELESSA "Miss Evelessa..."Feels like forever since I've seen him last.....Detective Hall. He’s standing casually against the stone wall near the cafeteria, hands tucked into the pockets of his long coat. His eyes remain the same watchful eyes which always seem to see far more than they should.I turn toward him slowly.“Yes, Detective?”Several students pass between us, but his gaze never leaves my face.“I need a word.”Cassain clears his throat "Why do you want to see her?"Something in his tone makes the tiny hairs on the back of my neck stand up.He ignores Cassain and gestures toward the side corridor.“Somewhere with less crowd”Great. That never leads to pleasant conversations.Still, curiosity wins.I follow him down the smaller hallway beside the library where the noise of the main corridor fades quickly. We stop near a tall window overlooking the cafeteria Hall turns to face me.For several seconds he says nothing.Just studies me.The silver hair. The beads. The faint

CASSAIN "What the fuck is this asshole doing exactly?"There are exactly three things that ruin my mood instantly.Sebastian, assassins and other men standing too close to Evelessa.Unfortunately, today the academy decides to present me with the third one.I walk into the cafeteria just after noon, expecting the usual chaos of students and noise. The place is packed. My wolf scans the room automatically. It takes less than two seconds to find her.Evelessa sits at the center table near the tall windows.Silver hair cascading down her back like liquid moonlight.Tiny beads glimmer within the strands. The crown flickers faintly above her head before dissolving again.Half the cafeteria is pretending not to stare. The other half isn’t pretending.Alexander lounges beside her chair with his boots on the bench.Lucian leans against the table scrolling through his phone.Alexis and Aretha sit across from them calmly. And standing directly in front of Evelessa—Is Jax.I stop walking. My ja
