It Went Flat

Chapter Forty.

Alaric's pov

I stirred in bed more often than I could count, a feeling of uneasiness settled in my heart that I just couldn't shake off, not wanting to stay in bed any longer as I couldn't get the sleep that was needed. I sat up on my bed.

What is this feeling and why won't it go away?

Emily stirred awake from beside me, “Babe, what's the matter?” She drew closer towards me and placed a hand on my shoulders.

I didn't bother with her, glancing at the alarm clock on my nightstand, it was just three in the morning, it was still too early.

“Dont worry about it, you can go back to bed,” I assured her. She rubbed my back some more before she kissed me on my shoulders and then drew the sheets over her shoulders.

I still didn't know what this feeling was but my thoughts trailed to Diana—it was the mate bond. There was no doubt that this restlessness was from me, what could be so wrong for her to be feeling this way? It was horrible and unbearable.
