Dami’s POV

For a moment, I thought Axel was dead. He wasn’t moving. His head lay at an awkward angle on the floor, blood trickling from a cut near his temple.

Everything around me blurred. Sophia’s shrill voice, Doman’s shocked expression, the pounding in my ears.

“Damn it, Doman!” I yelled, pushing him away from Axel’s limp body. “What the hell did you do?!”

He raised his hands like some helpless victim, blood still smeared across his face. “He attacked me first, Dami! I was only defending myself..”

“Shut up!” My voice cracked, trembling with something I refused to call fear. “You could’ve killed him!”

Sophia rushed to Doman’s side instead of Axel’s, her hands fluttering uselessly around his jaw. “Oh my God, your nose! It’s bleeding again. Sit down, please.”

I froze. The way she touched him was too soft and too familiar. Sophia was my assistant. The one person I trusted to stay loyal. So why was she suddenly acting like his personal nurse?

“I told you to help him!” I snapped, pointin

Dami's pov“Come here.”The words left Doman’s mouth like a command and it was low, sharp, cutting through the thick air between us. For a second, my breath stalled. My fingers twitched by my sides and I hated how my body still reacted to him at the moment. But I stepped forward anyway. The moment I reached him, his expression softened as if someone had pulled a veil over the storm in his eyes. His hands slid around my waist too gently, too suddenly and he whispered against my ear, “I’m sorry, Dami, I’m so sorry.”My spine stiffened. The shift from rage to tenderness always felt whiplash-fast. I didn’t know where to place the unease swelling in my chest.“I was only jealous,” he murmured, brushing a featherlight kiss down the side of my neck. “I panicked when I didn’t see you.”Jealous was the excuse today.I swallowed and nodded even though the knot in my chest didn’t loosen. “It’s fine,” I said, my voice barely a whisper. He pulled back just enough to cup my face, his thumbs brushi

  • THE TURNAROUND CEO   Come here

DOMAN’S POV The morning felt unusually heavy, as though the air itself had decided to sit on my chest. I sat alone in Dami’s living room, fingers loosely wrapped around a mug of lukewarm coffee I’d forgotten to drink. My thoughts wouldn’t settle. They spun, crashed, tangled and refusing to give me a moment of peace. Why hadn’t he called? Why hadn’t she come home? By now, Dami should have returned scared, crying and clinging unto me. That was how the plan was supposed to go. She should have been broken enough to lean on me, vulnerable enough to need me. But the house was quiet. Her room untouched. Her phone unreachable. I dialed the number again but it went to voicemail. My jaw tightened, irritation flaring. “Pick up the damn phone,” I muttered under my breath, pinching the bridge of my nose. The bastard was supposed to have updated me by midnight. Even a text. A hint or something. Not this thick silence that made my mind run wild.Footsteps entered the room, light but confident. Sop

DAMI’S POV Alexa insisted on fussing over us the moment we stepped outside. "No. Absolutely not,” she said, blocking the driver’s door before Rhea or I could reach it. “Neither of you is driving in this condition. I already called someone.”I blinked, a little stunned. Alexa, of all people. The Alexa I remembered used to sigh dramatically if she had to pass someone a pen. But this version, she hovered around us like a mother hen with a firstborn child.“Who did you call?” Rhea asked quietly. Her voice sounded thin, like it had been squeezed tightly and was struggling to breathe.“My boyfriend,” Alexa replied, as if that answered everything. “He’s close.”I looked at her properly then her worried eyes, her tense posture, the way she kept glancing at Rhea and then at me. This was not the Alexa I used to know. This one cared deeply. “Are you okay?” I asked Rhea again, searching her face for any clue, any crack, anything that could tell me the truth. She gave the same answer she had bee

Dami’s POV My heart wouldn’t stop racing. It slammed against my chest so violently that I thought I was going to pass out right there in my backseat. His hands gripped the steering wheel hard, jaw clenched, eyes fixed on the road as he sped away from the place where Rhea and I were almost killed. The word made my palms go cold. Rhea sat beside me, still shaking, one hand clutching her throat where the man had grabbed her. I couldn’t look at her for too long, doing that would make everything feel too real. The stranger’s fingers digging into her skin, my scream catching in my throat, the struggle. Axel appearing out of nowhere like some divine interruption. How did he even find us? The car suddenly slowed, pulling up in front of a house that looked simple, clean, warm-looking. Axel parked and rested his head back for a second, exhaling shakily before turning to face us. The moment our eyes met, something in his expression softened. “Are you both okay?” he asked quietly, but his voi

AXEL’S POV The bar Felix chose tonight wasn’t too loud but it was warm and dim, the type of place meant for long conversations and difficult truths. I sat across from him, swirling my drink slowly, letting the amber liquid catch the light. Felix was already on his second glass, leaning back casually as he watched me with that familiar, probing stare. “So,” he began, tapping the side of his glass, “what did you decide to do with the money I sent you last week?” I sighed. “It’s in the bank. I’m not touching it.” Felix’s brows shot up immediately. “Why? Axel, that’s not what I gave you that money for. You are supposed to be rebuilding your life.” “I know,” I muttered, staring at the table. “But I want to stay close to Dami for now.” The way Felix dropped his glass on the table made two customers turn their heads. His eyes hardened. “Are you serious right now?” “Yes.” My voice was calm but firm. Felix leaned forward, practically glaring at me. “Why do you still love her? Explain i

DAMI’S POV I woke up to the warmth of Doman’s breath against my neck, the weight of his arm draped lazily across my waist. Before I could even adjust my eyes, he pulled me closer, kissing my shoulder slowly. It startled me, because Doman wasn’t usually this gentle first thing in the morning. He was intense, yes. Possessive, always. But soft? Affectionate? Not like this. “Good morning,” he whispered, lips brushing my skin again. I swallowed, suddenly warm. “Why are you kissing me like this?” He only smiled, a slow, seductive smile that made my stomach flip, and trailed more kisses across my collarbone. “Because I love you,” he murmured. “And I want you.” My breath caught. The way he touched me felt intentional, too intentional. He kissed my jaw, my cheek, the corner of my lips, slowly building heat until my body softened under him despite myself. “Doman, what’s gotten into you today?” I breathed. “You,” he said simply, cupping my face. “Only you.” He kissed me again but this t
