Alexandra's POV

My mother and I sit anxiously in the hospital waiting room, my hands trembling uncontrollably in my lap. The smell of disinfectant hung heavily in the air, making me nauseous. My heart pounded in my chest, the seconds ticking by like an eternity as I anxiously awaited news on my dad's condition.

After what felt like hours, the door swung open, and a tired-looking doctor stepped into the room. His white coat was slightly wrinkled, and he had dark circles under his bright eyes. He exuded an air of exhaustion, yet I was hopeful that within him was the information that would address our concerns.

My mother's face was covered with worry lines; she rose from her seat beside me. She took a step forward, her voice barely a whisper but filled with desperation.
