Sofia's POV

When my eyes jolted open, it was all dark and gloomy. My head throbbed with a pounding headache, and I held my head in my hands as it felt like it was going to explode.

“Mom!” My voice called weakly. At this point, she's the only one who seems genuine and trustworthy.

“Sweetheart, you are awake.” She gasped, and I heard some noises. Before I could ask any further questions, the lights in the room came on, and everything came into view.

“Are you okay? Is anything wrong? Do you need me to call any of the doctors?” She pressed, and I shook my head.

“No! I'm fine, it's just a slight headache. What happened?” I changed the topic immediately, and my mother sighed.

“Well.. you had a really bad episode. The doctor said it's common with patients of retrogressive amnesia. You had a huge accident, and the impact was really bad.” My mother took my hand into hers and explained.

“You just need to be patient with yourself and be calm. The doctor promised everything would retu

  • THE WIFE HE BETRAYED, THE WOMAN HE FEARS   Santoro's Miserable Marriage.

Santoro's POVI threw my head back on the car seat and heaved a deep sigh as I tried to catch my breath. I looked out the window at the mansion that once brought me nothing but peace, but now I dread even stepping into the sitting room. Today was such a miserable day for me, and the only thing I need right now is some warm bath, hot food and the comfort of my wife's body. “Oh Sofia!” Her name slipped out of my mouth and I shut my eyes in frustration with my fist clenched together. Sure, I never loved Sofia. But at least she was more endearing. She would never scream at me or make me feel worthless. She never rubbed the help she offered in my face. There was always food at home, and I looked forward to coming home every night. I didn’t realise it then, but now I do. “I miss you terribly,” I muttered to myself, not bothering to keep lying. I finally stepped out of the car and retrieved my suitcase. My eyes fell on the documents on the other seat and I shrugged. This was the reas

Sofia's POV Marcus's voice reeled through me as I grabbed the edge of the bars, trying to stand on feet from the wheelchair. “You will never learn to walk again if you get too comfortable being crippled. And I'm sure you must have heard about me. I do not condone or tolerate laziness.” Marcus gritted. “Lazy people make my blood boil.” He said to me with a smirk, and I felt anger wash through me. His words were mocking, but at the same time, they were triggering. “Stand up and walk, Sofia!” He yelled at me, and my breath grew heavier with each passing moment I spent under his voice. My mother had introduced the idea of bringing in some instructors from the military. She said one of the doctors had suggested it to her. She asked for my opinion and I agreed right away. Even though my mother is willing to try all options to ensure that I walk again. She's not willing to risk my health at all. Even though I had insisted a million times, she kept reminding me not to pressure myself a

Sofia's POV The maids flinched, drawing back in fear. My fist clenched in anger with sweats dripping down my body. One of them walked back to me slowly and touched my arm.“Miss Sofia. Is there something you need? If you don't like the food, I can have the chef prepare you something else.” She asked each question carefully and that made me even angrier. “I said enough! Stop it! Stop it” I yelled at her with my eyes darkened. My eyes caught sight of the vase on the drawer close to me. I grabbed it and smashed it on the wall causing a loud noise. The maids immediately retreated from me and couldn't dare to look at me in the face. “Stop treating me like a freaking child! So what if I have amnesia? And if I can't walk? Is that enough reason to treat me like some doll?” I yelled at them even more. “I have hands, and I can eat my own food. I can clean my face and wear my clothes. Just stop it, all of you get the hell out of my room! Get out!” I screamed. My chest heaved in anger with

  • THE WIFE HE BETRAYED, THE WOMAN HE FEARS   Returning home.

Sofia's POV The black customised SUV drove into an all white mansion draped with golden marbles and designs. I stared out the window, feeling confused and amazed at the same time. Mother had arrived this morning at the hospital, suddenly declaring that she was taking me home. I was reluctant at first and insisted I wasn't coming with her. Knowing fully well, it's the same house that my brother Julian lives in. And with my amnesia still intact, I wasn't willing to risk living such a ridiculous life. But mother persuaded me eventually, stating it was better for me to be in the environment where I had grown up, since it will juggle my memories and help me regain them. And since I'm determined to have my life back and put things in place, I decided to take the chance and come here. “We are here!” My mother announced with her voice laced with excitement. One could tell she has been wanting to welcome me home for a very long time. I wondered why I ever left in the first place? I've he

Sofia's POVThe hostility in Julian's voice made me shake to my bones. The hatred in his voice was undeniable, and I wondered what I ever did to him in the past to warrant such hatred from him. My eyes searched for his, blurred with tears but at the same time seeking answers. My lips parted to speak, but nothing came out from my mouth. My throat choked with my words, and I looked at my mother, hoping she unravelled this mystery. “Julian please enough! You can't keep doing this to your sister.” My mother yelled at him, but that got him even more furious. “No mother, you can support her all you want. But I'm not going to accept it. This is insane! Father must have been delirious when he made this godforsaken will.” Julian retorted. “This crippled girl can't even help herself to the bathroom. How the hell is she supposed to run a multi-billion dollar company?” He scoffed with his fingers on his temple.“I'm taking this court. I will toil every legal process required, but I'm not goi

  • THE WIFE HE BETRAYED, THE WOMAN HE FEARS   The will reading.

Sofia's POV Immediately, the video stopped. Everything went blank and dark. My mom rushed to turn the lights on, and it flickered. My head spinned for a second, and my eyes flashed with voices popping up in my head. A pounding headache hit me like a wave, and I clutched my head in my hands as the hammering pain spread through my body, making me shiver. My head exploded in pain with memories that seemed too familiar, assaulting my head and slashing through me like a sword. “Aaahh!” I groaned in pain.“Sofia…” my mother rushed towards me, but I didn't pay attention to her. A man's face popped into my head, and my face crumbled. It was the same man I had just seen in the video. The man who claims to be my father. His face was twisted with anger, and he was barking at me with so much rage. “No! No!!” I tried shaking the memories off, but they kept coming like a flood. “I warned you. I told you that man would bring you misery, but you said you loved him. Love.” “Look at you now.”
