My victim

Devon POV:

Slumping on my seat in my office, I sighed deeply. This was the first time in the thousands of years I've lived that I'd think about someone so much. The most annoying thing was that my thoughts weren't occupied by a female, but a male at that! " I'm homophobic, for goodness’ sake!” I yelled and smashed the wine filled glass I was formerly twirling.

I ran my fingers through my hair, praying to the goddess that he'd leave my thought, but soon got interrupted when the door was slammed open.

Without checking to see who it was, I already knew it was my b*stard of a brother. My stepbrother, to be precise. To say we were always at each other's throat would be an understatement, we were literally sworn enemies. Our enmity only developed, all because of what happened in the past.

“I heard you were caught again today. This is one of the reasons why father is disappointed with you. Well, what is expected of a bastard?”. He snickered while standing before me with his hands folded across his muscled chest.

I clenched my jaw in anger, trying to stop myself from getting into a fight with him. These were the words he usually said anytime something goes awry.

As vampires, we were unknown to the world, which made us live in seclusion. Nome of us wished to be lab rats. Although we had powers that surpassed humans but after what happened to thousands of our kind years ago, we no longer took risks.

“Sebastian, what the hell do you want?” I calmly said through gritted teeth with my fists balled beside me. I wasn't going to give him the satisfaction he always wished to see.

Fighting with him was meaningless because our fighting prowess were on par. We both had the same physique but not to brag, I was more handsome than he was.

Staring at the devil of a stepbrother, I wondered how he was able to fool everyone with his calm facade. Like, seriously, he was a wolf in sheep's clothing! Not that I was any better, but I made my behavior and attitude known to the entire clan.

Due to how long vampires lived, I've been living using different identities in different countries to avoid human's suspicion.

“Oh brother, you should at least welcome me with more enthusiasm,” Sebastian said sarcastically. Then and there, I felt like plummeting him to death with my claws.

“Cut the crap! Why are you here?” I asked, getting more pissed. My idiot of a stepbrother noticed this but took it as a cue to anger me further and in the blink of an eye, the office was scattered and the only things that were head was the breaking and shattering of things and our heavy breathing.

Using my powers, I tried sneaking an attack on Sebastian, but he managed to dodge it neatly. This was expected because our prowess were on par.

I pounced on him and raised my fist to strike a blow at his jaw when my sicko of a father burst into the office.

“What is going on here?” He yelled. I rolled my eyes at his stupid question. Wasn't it obvious enough? I rose to my feet and glared at Sebastian while he did the same. I so badly wanted to wipe that smirk off his face. Not only that, but I truly hated his guts. Thinking back to the reason my hatred for him increased, I unconsciously clenched my fist. I'll never forget the pain he caused me!

“Devon! Are you even listening to me?” I heard my father yell, making me snap out of my daze.

“What did you say?” I asked curtly, like I always did. Although he was my father, he didn't deserve one bit of my respect. Even as the head of our clan, I paid no heed to his rules only when necessary.

“Well, make sure you shut the son of a b*tch that caught you in action,” He angrily said, and I could see the vein twitching on his forehead which showed he was furious.

This was expected because it was a given rule that stated that, no human should know about us.

I thought back to the pair of brown orbs that had been affecting me and felt something prick my chest. 'Who is he? What is he like? How does he behave? Does he smile?' I asked myself, but soon frowned after taking in the ridiculous questions I was thinking about. Damn it! What has gotten into me?

“Do you understand?” I heard my father yell once again.

“Fine,” I answered rudely, walking off to my seat. All this while, I caught sight of the small smirk that spread across Sebastian's face. What was this psycho thinking of? I could only pity his next victim.

As soon as my father walked out of my office, I slumped on my seat and twirled a pen in my hand. 'How do I get to him without human's suspecting anything?'.

I'd have taken him without anyone's notice, but I knew he'd be reported as a missing person which in turn will cause trouble for our kind.

“Need help?” I heard Sebastian asked, and it was then I realized he was still in my office.

“What the f·ck are you still doing here?” I asked with a raised eyebrow while acting nonchalant. Deep down, I wanted to dig out his heart.

“Are you that eager to send me out? Can't you entertain me? After all, I'm still a guest,” he ranted. The next second, the pen in my hand snapped into two, which in turn didn't even express how annoyed I was. I suppressed my anger and smiled at Sebastian, wanting him to get out as soon as possible. Yelling for my guards would be useless because I knew the son of a b*tch standing before me had made them unconscious. It was part of his powers.

I refused to give in to him and tried not to mind his presence, but his scent wasn't making it possible.

I guess he read my mind because just before he left, I heard him say, “I'll take back tenfold what you took from me.”

“What the hell does that even mean?” I asked aloud, but soon brushed it off.

I'm coming for you, my victim.
