CHAPTER 11 - The Aftermath
ELIJAH'S POV
I look down at my ringing phone and see that it's Skyler. Confused as to why she would be ringing me while out on a date with Cole, I answer it.All I hear when I put it to my ear is "Elijah!..." in Skyler's soft voice, which is full of sobs, pain, and terror."Skyler??? Where are you? What happened?" I say into the phone. She didn't answer but I could still hear is her soft crying.I jump off the couch and run to the door yelling "NATHAN! COLE'S POV After shifting, I run into the woods. I feel so guilty... I promised her that I would never hurt her and at the first touch of jealousy; I lose control of Xander. I can't believe that he did that. I stop just inside the edge of the woods and watch the place where I left Skyler curled up on the ground. Once I see Elijah run down the alley, stop in front of Skyler, kneel down, carefully picking her up, and then head back to the carpark where he no doubt either has his car or has someone waiting in a car for him. Once I know that Skyler is in good hands, I run further into the woods until I reach and stop at one of the streams that border our territory, sit down and turn inward to Xander.

SKYLER'S POVI continued to throw up my breakfast every second morning for the next 2 weeks. COLE'S POV After being too late to help my brothers keep Skyler safe, I was able to give Max the information needed to find and rescue her. I stay nearby to see who they send to go and get her. I smile to myself when I see Alexander exit out of the back of the packhouse, followed by the very best of his high ranked officers. I follow them to the edge of the border. I may not have my Alpha status anymore, but when I open my pack link, I can still hear everything.
