ERYX

That scent belongs to Velora. It's the same one I caught in the library. But what the hell is it doing here? How is it possible to smell her inside the Mayes’ house?

I press my jaw tight, silently willing Magnus to stay calm. I force my breathing to remain even, refusing to let the realization show on my face.

“Eryx, are you okay?” Aveline's worried voice cuts through my thoughts.

The scent begins to fade, and only then does the worst of the pressure ease. I open my eyes. My gaze lands on Rose’s anxious expression and Aveline’s exaggerated concern.

“I apologize for that,” I say evenly.

If my mate is truly living in this house, I can't let anyone know yet. Especially not here. Not when this place is filled with people like Aveline and her mother.

“You almost scared me.” Aveline settles back onto the edge of her seat, still watching me carefully. Then her perfume floods my nose again; heavy, artificial, and unpleasant. I fight the urge to wrinkle my nose.

I slowly rise to my feet, sliding one hand into my pocket as I look down at her.

“There's a reason I came here tonight, Aveline.”

Her brows knit together. “Yes, tell me.” The bright, hopeful smile returns to her face.

I let the silence stretch for a second. “I came to put an end to something that should have ended a long time ago.” My gaze remains fixed on hers. “I am here to reject you, Aveline Mayes of Hollowfang, as my mate and future Luna.” My voice remains calm. Absolute. And final.

Rose's face immediately twists into disbelief. Aveline's expression changes instantly. She starts to speak, but Rose reaches for her, holding her back with a firm look before slowly getting to her feet.

“I'm sorry, young Alpha Eryx.” She forces a smile. “I apologize on behalf of my daughter. Perhaps she's simply been overly excited about the engagement and may have offended you somehow—”

“It's not up for debate, Rose.” I cut her off before she can finish.

Her smile falters.

“I’m only here because I still respect the history between our families.” I look at her the same way I would look at a minor inconvenience. “That history is the only reason I’m still speaking to you. Don't push it.”

“If that were the case, you wouldn't dare speak to me that way, Eryx.”

She tilts her chin, clearly trying to stand her ground, but honestly, I don't think she's worth wasting my energy on.

“I'm your father's friend's wife. It's the only reason I'm holding myself back, so I demand you speak to me with respect, Eryx Nightbane.”

Her voice turns cold, carrying the kind of fury that has probably ruled this household for years.

Exactly what I've been expecting. This is the real Rose Mayes. The same woman I've known for decades.

A low, almost indifferent sound leaves me, barely a breath of a laugh — before I meet her eyes again.

“Is that a threat?” My voice stays quiet. “Or are you still trying to negotiate something that was never yours to negotiate?”

“You're overstepping your boundaries, young Alpha!” Her voice rises again, blazing with anger. “Don't forget that my family is an ally to the crown. This union was declared by the Alpha himself. My daughter won't accept your rejection unless we hear it from—”

“Oh, I assure you,” I cut her off, my patience thinning. “I'll announce it to the entire pack myself, if that's what you prefer.”

I cut her off before she opens her mouth again, still calm. Still unbothered. “That can be arranged.”

I'm trying hard to keep myself calm. Aveline is crying harder now, but she still doesn't interfere. I barely even glance at her.

“What?” Rose echoes silently in shock.

“Let me make something clear.” I take a single step toward her. “You’re friends with Theron Nightbane.” I take another step. “Not with me.”

Her expression tightens.

“There is a limit to what I will tolerate in my presence.” I stop directly in front of her, my voice low and precise. “The next time you decide to speak to me like that, remember who you’re addressing.” I hold her gaze for a long second. “Do not test it.”

With that, I wait another second before turning to leave. I don’t even make it to the door before something hits me hard.

Something sweet. Intense. Familiar.

My entire body goes rigid. I recognize it instantly… It’s her.

“Fuck,” I mutter through gritted teeth.

Velora is in heat. Magnus goes mad, no longer asking. He can feel it too.

*Eryx. Our mate is in heat.* he growls.

My body stops functioning… Fuck, I have to get to her. Now

  • TOUCH NOT HIS PLUMP MATE   GAME

ERYXThe second Vesper sees me, he stands to his feet and gives me a small, mocking bow.“Glad to have you here, Future Alpha Eryx.” He straightens, a cocky grin spreading across his face.I slide both hands into my pockets. “We need to talk, Vesper.”He scoffs. “Care for champagne?”I don't answer. He turns toward the girls behind him. “I'll be back.”He walks over to me and leads me toward a quieter part of the house. The music dulls behind us, but I can still hear it pulsing through the walls. He stops abruptly and turns to face me. His expression is more serious now.“Tell me you didn't come here to ruin the night.”“Give me what I want, and I won’t.”His brows pull together. “Wait…” His eyes narrow. “Is this about Velora Mayes? That girl?”“She’s not that girl.” My voice stays flat, precise. “She's my mate.”The words settle between us with more weight than I intended. Saying it out loud only sharpens the restless pull under my skin. She is mine. And right now someone is standing

  • TOUCH NOT HIS PLUMP MATE   GET IT

KEVINRose walks quietly into my study without knocking. Judging by the look on her face, I can tell she's still angry about the way I handled the situation earlier.“How is she?” I ask calmly, pulling off my glasses and setting them on the desk. She doesn't answer immediately. Instead, she sighs. “Did you really have to shout at Aveline like that?” Her voice tightens. “Don't tell me you're actually concerned about Velora?”I exhale sharply and lean forward slightly. “You know that's not possible.”“How am I supposed to believe that, Kevin?” She steps closer. “You loved her mother. Maybe you can't bear seeing Gemma's child suffer.”Silence settles between us. The truth is, Rose is right. I did love Gemma, more than I ever admitted while she was still alive. And every time I look at Velora, the same quiet eyes, the same stubbornness set to her mouth at times… It feels like the past is standing in front of me, accusing me of everything I chose to bury. Part of me wonders if the way we’v

  • TOUCH NOT HIS PLUMP MATE   SAY IT AGAIN

ERYXAfter dinner, I head to my room and take a shower. I change into gray sweatpants and pair them with a sleeveless jersey top. Vesper loves saying I wear these just to show off my abs and perfect muscles. I've heard it so many times that I don't even bother reacting anymore. I hardly wear anything complicated. I like keeping things simple and comfortable.I settle behind my study desk and turn on my laptop. The screen illuminates my face. Then it happens again. Velora's face flashes through my mind. I stare at the screen, but the words in front of me barely register. I can't concentrate. All I can think about is her. Her scent. Her eyes. The way she looked at me. The memory of her scent still sits in the back of my throat. I want to go back. The pull is constant, restless, and it’s starting to fray every edge of my control. The chair scrapes against the tile as I abruptly stand. Maybe I made a mistake. Maybe I shouldn't have held back. Maybe I should have claimed her when she was b

  • TOUCH NOT HIS PLUMP MATE   EVERY SECOND

ERYXThe drive home feels like something I did on autopilot. I barely remember the roads I took or the turns I made. My mind is too busy replaying the same images: Velora’s flushed skin under my hands, the way her body leaned into mine when the heat was strongest, the soft sound she made when I held her.Magnus had been seconds from taking control. I felt his hunger like a second pulse under my skin. Claiming her would have been easy. Necessary, even. But the look in her eyes when she finally recognized me — shock mixed with something close to fear — stopped me cold. She isn’t ready. And forcing the bond while she’s still reeling from her first heat would only make her run.I pull up outside the gate and kill the engine, but the tightness in my chest doesn't ease.“I messed up tonight,” I mutter.*Yeah. Big time, dude.* Magnus’s voice comes immediately, flat and unimpressed.*We had her tonight. And you still walked away.*I release a sharp breath and unfasten my seat belt with a fast

  • TOUCH NOT HIS PLUMP MATE   GENUINELY SCARED

VELORAThe second my eyes land on Eryx, I wonder if my mind is playing tricks on me. It doesn't make any sense. Eryx Nightbane is inside my room. And somehow, I'm curled up beside him in my bed.“Eryx?” His name leaves my lips quietly, almost as if saying it aloud will make him disappear. He doesn't answer immediately. For some reason, that scares me. A tiny part of me wonders if he's about to push me away, and I don't know why the thought makes my chest tighten.“How are you feeling now?” he asks calmly.I blink.I've definitely lost my mind. Eryx couldn't possibly be here. Not when he was supposed to be with Aveline. Something isn't right. Before I can think any further, I push myself up on my elbow and move away from him, despite the strange warmth still lingering around my body whenever I'm close to him.“Velora…” He reaches for me, but I don't stop until I'm at the edge of the bed.“You're…”The cold breeze from the open window suddenly hits my skin. I freeze. Then I remember exa

  • TOUCH NOT HIS PLUMP MATE   DON'T HIDE

ERYXIf I weren't fighting every instinct inside me, I would have torn the guy apart for getting that close to my mate.Rose and Aveline stand behind me, both wearing the same horrified expressions. Whether the concern is genuine or performed, I don't have time to care.“Get out.” My voice is low, but the command leaves no room for argument. The guy looks at me nervously. He doesn't move at first, frozen beneath the weight of my stare. I take one deliberate step toward him. That's all it takes. He bolts out of the room.Magnus is pacing furiously inside me now, snarling, demanding that I go after him. I force him down with everything I have, jaw locked, muscles tight. I cannot let anyone know she’s my mate. Not yet. Not here.I turn back to Velora. She’s barely conscious, her breathing uneven, skin flushed with heat. Something twists hard and painful in my chest at the sight of her like this — soft, vulnerable, and suffering. I move closer and carefully pull the blanket higher around
