THEO
“Shit… it’s always this way, I come to class every day and there’s always two boys in the bathroom. I always wondered why they take some much time in the rest room.” I murmured as I stood at the end of the long line waiting at the 3rd floor rest room. I couldn’t hold it in much longer so I turned around and could my day get any worst… Blake… I hated him from the day I step foot in this institution, always getting on my nerves… The school bully everyone hates to see coming, and I’m somehow his one and only target. I lowered my head and tried to just avoid eye contact as I walked past him but no it didn’t work… never did. “Oh, look who’s here… if it isn’t Theo Caldwell… my favorite person to see” Blake chuckled as he walked towards me with his pen on the side of his left ear I tried to speed up my pace, so he doesn’t add to the pressure I’m feeling right now, I was definitely gonna piss my pants “Leave me alone Blake” I said in a low tone as I adjusted my glasses “Now why would I do that?” he stretched forward to pull my tie… luckily, I ducked past him and his three friends, but my glasses slipped and fell to the ground… “Fuck…” “Oh, would you look at that, little Theo’s glasses…” He picked up my glasses then spun it around his finger “Should we give Theo back his glasses back boys?” He asked one of his minions while grinning at me “Give it back Blake” “No…” He paused before throwing it to Lucas, it missed the floor by a few miles before he caught it “Please” “I would… on one condition” “Please…I’m in a hurry” “To where?” “The rest room” He grinned widely the signaled one of the boys then Lucas threw the glasses to the other boy… then he threw it on the ground and crushed it with his shoe… “No… That’s my 3rd pair of glasses this month… I can’t afford another one until next month” “That’s the whole point… if you eventually get another one, it has the same fate as this one” “Why do you always do this to me Blake?” “Because… it’s fun to pick on your nerdy ass, and no one can stand up against me, let alone you” “Please leave me alone would you…” “No, I won’t… come on boys we’re late for class” He waved a hand to his boy bully squad then they all left for class... unfortunately for me I’m also in the same class as them… therefore I should definitely expect another prank coming my way. it’s always that way and no lecturer dare to even stand up for me… I sighed heavily then picked up my books and ran to the restroom to wash my face up… I looked like a nervous wreck… I stood outside the restroom door, and it was finally quite… no rushing, no pushing just peace and quiet, I can finally go in without someone picking on me… I rushed in happily though my vision was still kind of blurry I could still see a little of my surrounding. After doing my business I stood at the wash basin washing my hand and face then I noticed someone walk out of the second restroom… tall…dressed in a well layered suit and had medium long hair that covered his face slightly… I couldn’t see his face clearly, but I knew he dressed expensive… is he another bully? I wondered to myself as I sped up my pace so I could rush out of here before he starts picking on me too just like the others did “Please leave me alone...” I blurted out with shaky hands as I turned to face him… He didn’t respond he just looked at me for a short while then washed his hand and walked out without saying a word to me… I was sure he was going to bully me just like the others…but why didn’t he? I just shrugged off the thought, then washed off and went for my next class… Physiology… I heard we were getting a substitute teacher for the class. Hope he isn’t bias just like the rest of them I walked down the stairs and headed for the class, i was ready for any kind of prank, that was all they ever did… pull pranks on me…I’m already used to it… besides what’s the worst they could do? I opened the class door as my heart raced in my chest…sure enough they already put a bucket of water over the door, as I opened it… I got drenched and soaked by the water, everyone laughed… but I just sighed and went to my seat at the back as always. Blake was in front of the class… then he stood up and was walking towards me… Luckily the professor was already here, so he just sat back down on his seat and scuffed at me… I let out a sigh of relief as i brought out my books and pen with shaky hands. I looked up as the substitute prof. was already writing down his name on the marker board… they had no respect for any professors not the present one nor the past… always like that, they didn’t even acknowledge his presence, they kept on discussing despite him being in front of the class then he reached into his pocket and brought a gun… I was stunned, everyone else gasped and sat up straight “Ehen…” he clears his throat as he straightened his tie and sat on the chair, behind the table…He looked quite familiar…oh i remember…it’s the guy at the restroom…shit…I behaved like a pimp in front of the new substitute teacher, he’d probably just treat me badly just like the rest of them now “My name is Prof. Adrian Devon…” His deep voice echoed as he spoke in the quite classroom, everyone’s eyes were fixated on him… “For as long as I remain your substitute teacher… I will not tolerate any disrespect from anyone… either towards me or towards any fellow student…” He paused then scanned the room then his gaze drifted to the injuries on my cheek “is that understood by everyone seated here?” He asked loudly banging his fist on the table “Yes Prof. Adrian” Everyone shouted as they trembled in fear… everyone except Blake, who folded his arms across like he owns the class “Am i making myself clear…Blake?” Prof. Adrian repeated himself once more. “Yes, Uncle Adrian” Uncle? Did i just hear him say uncle? “it’s Professor Adrian to you as well, within the walls of this institution, you’re not allowed to refer to me as uncle, do you get that?” “…But?” “is that clear to you Blake?” “Yes…” “Hmm?” “Yes, Professor Adrian” “Good…Open to page 98 of your textbooks… Blake?” “Yes un… Professor” “Go seat at the back, switch seats with Theo” I was shocked when I heard him call my name, how did he know my name… he must have seen it in the students record… every professor has one… to keep record of all their students… but the call out was a bit too sudden. I just stared at him in confusion, why switch seats with my bully, he’s going to kill me if I take his seat… “Didn’t I make myself clear Blake?” “But sir? I can’t sit there…” “Why?” Prof. Adrian asks “Why not any other seat but his?” “Because I said so… Theo…” I looked up in shock as he gazed at me “Pack up your things, this is your new seat” I did as Professor Adrian ordered and started packing up my things with shaky hands… I could literally feel Blake’s eyes on me…if it was up to him, I wouldn’t even have made it up the seat, I walked slowly towards the seat with my bag in my left hand… Blake walked past me and shoved my hand back abruptly causing my bag to fall to the ground… “1 week detention Blake” “I didn’t do anythi…” “1 week detention, no ifs no buts” Blake grumbled as he walked to the back seat frowning… it was the best day of my life but I knew it wouldn’t last long, the minute I’m alone… he’ll probably beat me up for taking his seat. “Ok everyone… where did your last lecturer end his last class?” There was no reply from anyone, everyone went dead silent “Blake?” “Yes sir…” He murmured under his breath “What was the last topic discussed in this class?” Blake stuttered… he didn’t know the answer to the question… “2 weeks detention” “…But I didn’t do anything sir…” “That’s right you didn’t, you didn’t answer my question, therefore you did nothing so… detention… two weeks” Blake sighed heavily as he sat back down on his seat… everyone murmured, some talked wondering why the super star bully was getting punished by the new professor…THEO"Whatever he ate earlier appears to have been spiked with something that caused the drowsiness," the doctor explained again Adrian's expression changed."Spiked?" he repeated, his voice dangerously quiet. "Are you telling me someone deliberately put something in his food?""I can't confirm that without further testing. However, his symptoms are consistent with the effects of a substance that can cause drowsiness. We need to take him to a medical facility for proper examination and observation."Adrian looked down at me…I wanted to tell him I could hear everything, but my tongue felt too heavy in my mouth. I could barely keep my eyes open, and the doctor's words seemed to drift in and out of my consciousness."Will he be all right?" Adrian asked."His pulse is stable, which is encouraging, but we shouldn't take any chances. He needs to be monitored until the effects wear off."Adrian nodded, though the tension in his face didn't ease. "Do whatever you need to do."The doctor cont
THEO"Stay away from him!" Adrian's voice thundered through the classroom then the men surrounding me froze.I tried to lift my head, but everything remained blurry. I could barely make out their figures, and the room continued to spin around me. My body felt heavy, as though something was holding me down and refusing to let me move then Adrian appeared in front of me.I had never seen him look like that before…His expression was cold, his jaw clenched, and his eyes burned with a fury that made even the masked men hesitate. "Who sent you?" he demanded.None of them answered then one of the men released my arm and stepped backward.Adrian moved closer, placing himself between me and the strangers. "I asked you a question."The tallest man glanced at the others…that brief exchange was enough to tell me they were planning something."Professor..." I whispered.Adrian's head turned immediately. "Theo?"I tried to reach for him, but my arm barely moved. He looked at my face, and whatever h
THEOI left Adrian’s office with his warning still running through my mind…he had been unusually serious about Lya. According to him, the information his investigator had uncovered raised more questions than answers. Her family background was unclear, and there was no reliable information explaining where she had come from.I understood why Adrian was concerned, but I couldn't bring myself to believe Lya was necessarily dangerous. She had been friendly to me since we met. She listened when I spoke, made me laugh when I was stressed, and never seemed bothered when I wasn't in the mood to talk but still, Adrian's warning lingered.I had promised myself that I would ask Lya about her family on Friday. Until then, I would be careful about what I told her.I was halfway down the corridor when I spotted her standing outside my classroom…she was leaning against the wall with her phone in her hand. The moment she noticed me, she straightened and slipped the phone into her bag…"Theo!"I slowed
THEOI turned to look at Lya.She was watching me with a small smile, as though she'd asked an ordinary question and expected an equally ordinary answer. But I couldn't stop thinking about how often she'd brought up my personal life lately.First, she'd asked about my job, the company I worked for, and my boss. Now she wanted to know where I lived.I didn't think I was being unreasonable by finding it strange.“Why are you suddenly so curious about where I live?” I asked. Her smile faltered slightly. “What do you mean?”“You've asked me several questions about my personal life recently. First, you wanted to know about my work, and now you're asking about my house. I'm just wondering why.”Lya studied me for a moment before leaning back in her chair. “I'm sorry if I've made you uncomfortable.”I waited for her to explain herself, but she didn't. Instead, she gave me a small, almost apologetic smile.“If you don't want to tell me, that's fine. You don't have to.”I wasn't sure what to m
THEO I stared at Adrian, completely offended by his behavior. “Let them ask?” I repeated. “Are you trying to make my life difficult on purpose?”He leaned back in his seat, looking far too pleased with himself. “Not at all.”“Then why would you do that?”“Because I bought you that locket, and I want you to wear it.”“I am wearing it!”“Under your shirt.”I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out immediately…this man was unbelievable.I looked down at the locket resting against my chest. The photograph inside meant a lot to me, and I wanted to keep it close. That didn't mean I wanted the entire school examining it and asking questions about who had given it to me. “Adrian, what if people become suspicious?”“Suspicious of what?”I turned to him slowly. “Are you seriously asking me that?”He shrugged. “I don't see the problem.”“Of course you don't. You're the professor. You're the one who can walk around looking confident while the rest of us are left trying to figure out wha
THEOI turned slowly to look at Adrian and neither of us spoke immediately. Blake's last words were still a shock to both of us and I couldn't help wondering who he had been talking to. From the sound of their conversation, the woman seemed genuinely hurt. Whatever had happened between them, she hadn't expected him to end their relationship so abruptly.Adrian squeezed my hand…“Theo, don't concern yourself with their business.” he saidI looked at him concerned about the girl who's heart has been broken. “But—”“It's Blake's personal life. Whatever happened between him and that woman has nothing to do with us.”I knew he was right. We had no reason to involve ourselves in Blake's relationship, especially when we had only overheard part of the conversation but still, curiosity overwhelmed me. “Do you think he really found someone else?” I whispered.Adrian gave me a questioning look. “Didn't you hear him say so?”“I did, but I don't know. He sounded so angry.”“People say all sorts of
