ASHLEY'S POV

My new car made a low rhythmic sound beneath us—a deep sound that made people turn their heads as we passed. Dax was in the driver's seat since he offered to drive us to the venue and party with us, and Micheal sat beside me in the back, his arm stretched casually across the seat and behind my shoulders.

The streets blurred past—street lights, restaurant signs, and the occasional flash of people's phone as they tried to take a picture of my new car. I was trying to relax into the night when my phone buzzed, lightening up the name I didn't want Micheal to see.

Tyler.

What the hell does he want now?

I pressed my lips together and let it ring. I could already feel Michael’s attention to me, that sharp, assessing way he had of looking without saying a word.

Then my dad's name popped up on his phone at the same time, and he answered. His voice shifted into that calm, clipped tone he used with him.

“Yes, she's fine,” he said into the phone.

Then he pauses. Then he said “No,

AUSTIN’S POV I'd thought about this for days. Spent sleepless nights weighing it in my head, pacing my apartment for hours, telling myself to keep my mouth shut, and just watch them fall apart while I grab my chance with Ashley. But the truth was ugly, and I knew Micheal would never take it lightly. But the longer I kept it inside, the heavier it became, pressing on my chest until I could barely breathe. And it all came back to her.Ashley.The only reason I was here, sitting in Micheal’s office, staring him down while he glared at me like I was the last person he wanted to see. I hated the fact that he had her, that she looked at him in ways she never looked at me. That jealousy burned hot in my veins—but it was nothing compared to the fear that Simon Veltor's name carried. Her safety was more important than my pride.More important than my resentment.Micheal leaned back in his chair, his sharp eyes cutting through me like blades. “Can we be fast about this?” He asked. “I have a si

  • TWISTED AFFAIR   CHAPTER 128

MICHEAL'S POV If looks could kill, Liam would already be six feet under. Ashley hadn't stopped glaring at him since the vase shattered. It didn't matter that most of her things were already packed by Liam and that all that was left was waiting for the moving truck—Ashley’s day had been completely ruined by that one broken vase. And I find it hard to support her this time. Because I don't just get it. A vase was just a vase, right? It's replaceable if broken. But judging by the way she sat beside me now with her arms crossed, cheeks flushed from anger, I was starting to realize this was more than just about some piece of porcelain.Liam, of course, wasn't helping. He scoffed from the passenger seat. “I mean, it's just a vase. I don't get why she's so pissed.”I didn't even have the time to react before Ashley shot up with fury in her eyes, ready to lunge at him.“Ash…” I grabbed her, pulling her down quickly and setting her on my lap before she actually scratched his face off. “Enough

  • TWISTED AFFAIR   CHAPTER 127

MICHEAL'S POV It had been a week. One damn week of silence, and it was eating me alive. The last time I'd seen Ashley was the day after her birthday. Since then, all I got was excuses— “baby, I'm busy, or let's talk later.” I kept telling myself she needed space, but the truth was simple: I missed her. The ache of not having her near me was sharper than I care to admit. So, I did what I always did when something clawed at me—I buried myself in work. Meetings, contracts, late night at the office. But even in the middle of presentations, my thoughts drifted to her smile, her voice, the way she looked at me like I was the only one in the room. And still, despite everything, I couldn’t shake the unease. Tyler's little stunt on the yacht replayed in my head more than I wanted. That's why I still had Liam watching her. Not that I fully trusted him—hell no—but he'd saved her once, and that earned him a credit.Just as I was flipping through files on my desk, the office door swung open witho

  • TWISTED AFFAIR   CHAPTER 126

AUSTIN’S POVIt's been a week since Ashley’s birthday, yet the images won't leave me. I keep replaying them in my head no matter how hard I try to shove them into the dark corner of my mind. Her laughter, the way she leaned into Micheal as if he was her safe place, her lips on his.And that look in her eyes—God, that look. Like he was her whole world. That should've been me.I've been here all her life. I've protected her from heartbreaks, held her when she cried, and loved her quietly while she drifted through people who never deserved her. And now? A rich man, twice her age, swoops in and claims her like she's his prize. No. I can't let it happen. Not without a fight.I dragged a hand through my hair, trying to focus on anything else when my phone rang.An unknown number flashed across the screen.I frowned, answering cautiously. “Hello?”“Austin Carter,” a voice said smoothly, like he'd been goggling about me all day.My chest tightened. “How do you know my name?”The stranger chuc

JAYDEN’S POV Three days. Three goddamn days of endless meetings in Paris. Lunch meetings, closing deals, and negotiations that dragged until early hours of the morning. My body was here, but my heart and mind were back in New York.Back with my daughter.Ashley’s birthday had come and gone, and I hadn't been there. The guilt gnawed at me every second I wasn’t working. I told myself it was for her— this business, these endless meetings and boardrooms war. But what good was success if I kept missing the moments that mattered?Today, I had to do something. Something small but meaningful. The Louis Vuitton store was my stop. If I knew my daughter—and I damn well did—she loved them in pinks. Bags, clothes, shoes, anything with that touch of softness against her fiery spirit. I pushed through the glass doors, greeted by polished smiles and polite bows.“Good afternoon, sir. How may we assist you?” One of the staff greeted me.“I need bags in pink,” I said, adjusting the cufflinks on my shi

ASHLEY'S POV Michael's jaw flexed. “What are you doing here, Liam?”“Saving your girl, apparently.” Liam’s eyes flicked to me, then back to Michael. “Nice to see you too, brother.”Micheal closed the distance in two strides, his glare fixed on Tyler. “You spiked her drink?”Tyler wiped the blood off his lip. “I didn’t…”Micheal grabbed him and shoved him back against the rail. “Try again.”“I didn't do anything.” Tyler's voice cracked.“Please.”Liam snorted. “He’s lying. And oh…he gifted the little one that necklace around her neck and even helped her put it on. He had eyes on her all night.”What the hell? How does he even know that?He wasn't there earlier.Michael's attention snapped to me. “Is this true?”I shook my head quickly. “Baby…please, listen to me.”Michael's grip only tightened on Tyler’s shirt, grabbing his neck so tight.“Bro,” Liam said lazily, “If you're gonna toss him overboard, do it quick and let's get on with the party. I'm starving.”I glared at Liam and quick
