Chapter 5

The dead pup's body had been concealed inside the box, hidden underneath the papers.

This was Rylan's pup. The descendant I had left for him.

Rylan was stunned for the longest time.

A few guests were still shrieking from the shock. Dad's bellowing voice was immediately heard all over the venue.

"That fucking bitch! The fuck did she have to go and rile up everyone for? She's such a fucking disgrace! A fucking disgrace to werewolves!"

Dad then tore open the rest of the box. Another document fell out, along with a piece of crystal with his name written on it.

He picked up the crystal, gave it a quick glance, and then threw it away. "Fucking trash."

Rylan's eyes finally focused. He hurriedly picked up the fallen document from the ground.

The document was enough to prove that the dead pup belonged to him.

"That's impossible! Impossible! My pup! How could this be my pup? How dare she do this!"

Rylan kept repeating it like a mantra as he combed through the document in a huge rage. However, when he flipped to the second page that held my medical report, he was completely stunned.

The report stated that the healer had repeatedly injected medication into my bones, and that my pup had died in my belly, so it had to be removed at once. And for the rest of the night, my body had been torn apart and put together again multiple times over, finally managing to heal only after the second day.

Rylan's expression went from fury to shock and disbelief. He suddenly found it hard to breathe.

Meanwhile, Dad's roaring brought him back to the present. "That bitch must have fabricated everything! She's just in hiding now so that we'd give in and take pity on her! She's waiting for us to cave!

"Her wolf is so strong—it's impossible that it would let the pup die!"

Dad's words seemed to give Rylan a glimmer of hope. "That's right! That must be what's going on. She's just trying to get my attention!

"I'm going to dissolve our bond now! This will teach her a lesson. She'll regret doing all of this when she finally loses everything!"

After seemingly consoling himself with that mini-speech, Rylan then stormed toward the exit. However, before he could even reach the door, he suddenly fell to the ground on his knees in excruciating pain.

"Damn it! That fucking bitch!"

Rylan couldn't stop shaking all over. He also couldn't stop howling in grief.

Then, after a sudden sharp pain, he felt his mate bond break.

At the same time, I could feel a slight pain in my chest after drinking the potion. But that pain was nothing compared to the comfort and relief flooding my senses right afterward.

Rylan, on the other hand, wasn't having it easy.

His sudden behavior got everyone's attention at once.

"What's the matter with him? Did he get rejected by his mate?"

"But isn't it their wedding anniversary today?"

The guests started whispering and gossiping among themselves.

Dad helped Rylan to his feet. "That cunt! I knew that she was going to ruin everything!"

He then whispered in Rylan's ear and said, "It seems like the only thing we can do now is to get Elowe to appear as your Luna. But this isn't going to be the first time anyway. Elowe's the one you choose, right?"

Rylan's hollow eyes sparkled with hope again.

"That's right. I still have Elowe. We will be happy together for the rest of our lives! She's obviously more presentable than Thalia will ever be!"

Rylan and Dad then pacified the guests and hurried over to Elowe's mansion as quickly as possible.

They brought with them a beautiful gown for Elowe to wear to the celebration. However, before they'd even managed to knock on the door, they heard Elowe screaming shrilly from inside.

"Don't you know that wolfsbane is very fragile and delicate? Do you think you can pay me back for the damages you've done?"
