Chapter 6

Author: Cash Cow
The next day at the wedding venue, Raymond pulled the crisp white suit from its hanger—the one he'd picked out weeks ago just for this day—and got ready to pick me up. He called me, but no one answered.

His best man tried to reassure him. "She's probably getting her hair and makeup done."

Raymond told himself the same thing. He even smiled and sent a series of voice messages, but he never got a reply. A strange unease began to settle in his chest. But the joy of marrying me soon pushed that worry to the background.

Raymond arrived at my grandmother's place. I had said I wanted him to pick me up from here for the wedding. However, the house was empty, with not a single soul inside.

He stood at the door, attempting to keep the smile on his face while his palms grew slick with cold sweat.

"Maybe she was so excited she went straight to the venue on her own," his best man offered with a smile plastered on his face.

Yeah, that had to be it. I loved him.

  • Taking Back My Love   Chapter 9

Raymond parted his lips and tried to explain himself, but he choked on his own words. "I-I'm sorry, Xy.""You don't have to apologize to me. You stood up for me when it mattered. As far as I'm concerned, we're even now."His eyes were filled with desperate longing, but I pulled my hand away and walked off.…Sure enough, the interview caused quite a stir online. Netizens were amazed at how Raymond was so determined to win back his fiancée that he even appeared on the news."Mr. Campbell is such a romantic! He's still single after all this time for the sake of his fiancée.""Hopefully, that young lady will give him another chance…"But not everyone was buying the love story; some dug up the mess from that wedding years ago."Don't be fooled by his looks! He lost his fiancée because he cheated on her!""And the woman he cheated with was none other than the heiress of Sanders Group. The same woman who used to bully his fiancée!"The pictures spoke for themselves, and his reputat

One day, while I was prepping for an interview, a coworker held up their phone and asked, "Hey, do you know this guy? He says he's looking for you. Claims he's your fiancé."I chuckled and took the phone from them, only for my smile to freeze on my face. The phone was playing a video clip from an interview. Raymond held his phone up to the camera, his voice tender and broken. "Xy, if you're watching this, can you give me one more chance? I know I messed up real badly. But at the very least, let me apologize to you in person."I hadn't seen him in half a year. He had changed a lot. He looked tired and worn down. My coworker inquired, "So, is this handsome guy talking about you? He's the CEO of Campbell Group!"I smiled and shook my head. "Nope. Never seen him before."My colleague refused to drop it. "But the woman on his phone wallpaper looks exactly like you! His lover's name is Xy, and your name is Xyla.""Oh, come on. It's a big world—there are tons of people with the same n

Jenna arrived at the wedding venue, hoping to see if I would still marry Raymond after finding out everything. The scene before her was a total mess, and it thrilled her. Things had turned out as she'd expected. Before she could even feel victorious, Raymond stormed up to her and wrapped his hand tightly around her throat. "You've got some nerve showing up here. I swear to God, I'll kill you!" If it weren't for Jenna, he never would've lost me—his bride, the woman he loved more than anything.Jenna's face went from pale to purple and then to a sickening shade of blue as she struggled to breathe. Hans and a few others rushed in and peeled Raymond off her. "That's enough! Even if you kill her, Xyla's not coming back!"Raymond's hands fell away. Hans was right. The evidence of his betrayal, the wreckage of their relationship—it was all right in front of him. I would never forgive him, not in this lifetime. He didn't even remember how he got home. All he knew was that he needed to be

Raymond had just pulled Jenna away from the edge when suddenly, a memory flashed through his mind. I had once stood the same way… at the very top of a building, toes nearly over the edge.Back then, I had just lost my grandmother. The witnesses had all been silenced. Jenna had paid them off, so none would come forward and testify that it was her who had run my grandmother over.Jenna had money and power. In her world, taking someone's life was nothing a bit of cash couldn't fix.I had gone to each witness one by one, begging them to testify. I even got down on my knees, but all I got was cold rejection. Left with nowhere else to turn, I climbed to the rooftop—shaking, alone, and ready to give up.Raymond had raced up the stairs and burst through the door just in time. I turned to face him, my eyes red from crying. My once-bright gaze was now clouded with despair, and I looked so small and fragile. At that moment, something in him cracked. His chest ached so deeply he could barel

I waited for Raymond all night. From dusk until dawn, I sat in the silence of our home, hoping the door would open, but it never did. It wasn't until the next morning that I received a message from him."I'm sorry, Xy. The issue at work yesterday was really pressing. I had to stay up all night to deal with it. I feel terrible for not being able to have dinner with you. I've prepared a surprise for you to make up for it."With just one phone call, he had every luxury jewelry boutique in the city deliver their limited-edition seasonal collections right to our villa, letting me pick anything I liked. The staff couldn't help gushing, "You're so lucky, Ms. Watson! Mr. Campbell said he'd buy any and every piece you choose. No one else will have the same pieces; the one you pick will be the only one in existence."I didn't want to waste his efforts, so I selected a few pieces. Raymond called me. "How did you like the necklaces, Xy? Every piece is one of a kind, just as you are to me. You
