Chapter 33: The Traitor's Bloodline

Dark purple lightning exploded from Elder Vance’s chest, detonating with enough force to shatter the massive stone war table into thousands of flying shards!
Generals screamed as the dark shockwave threw them against the walls.
"Lyra!" Caelum roared.
In a fraction of a second, Caelum shifted his body to shield Lyra completely, taking the brunt of the explosive dark magic across his broad back. His heavy leather coat shredded, his skin scorching under the dark-silver lightning, but he didn't yield an inch.
Elder Vance’s body collapsed into a pile of black ash, leaving the silver void dagger floating mid-air, spinning violently as it ripped open a tear in space itself!
A black hole—a miniature realm portal—opened right in the center of the War Room floor!
Out of the portal stepped three towering figures clad in pitch-black void armor, their eyes glowing like dying stars. Behind them, stepping through the shadow portal, was a figure that made every general in the room freeze in absolute horror.
It was Victor Vance—Caelum's dead brother, his skin pale and covered in glowing void-runes, a sinister smile carved across his face.
"Hello, little brother," Victor purred, his voice layered with dark power. "Thank you for bringing the Princess right to me."
"Victor..." Caelum gasped, his gray-silver eyes wide with shock. "You... you died in the Great Purge..."
"I didn't die, Caelum," Victor chuckled, stepping forward as his massive void aura flared, clashing against Caelum’s shadow aura in an explosive wave of pressure. "Our father traded me to the Void Emperor in exchange for Obsidian Ridge's prosperity! I was made into the Emperor's vessel... and now, I have come to take the crown that was stolen from me!"
Victor raised his hand, pointing a finger straight at Lyra.
"Kill the Alpha King," Victor commanded his void knights. "Bring me the Sun Princess alive!"
SWOOSH!
The three void knights lunged with hyper-sonic speed, their jagged black blades aiming straight for Caelum’s neck!
"LIKE HELL YOU WILL!" Lyra screamed!
Lyra’s solar wings exploded from her shoulders in a blinding flash of divine white-gold light! The sheer intensity of her solar brilliance hit the void knights like a kinetic bomb, vaporizing their armor and throwing them backward through the stone walls!
Lyra stepped up beside Caelum, her hair floating in a halo of golden fire, her hands blazing with plasma blades.
Caelum looked at her, his shock evaporating, replaced by an absolute, terrifying pride. He reached out, his hand gripping hers tightly. The moment their hands met, their magic fused—shadow and light intertwining into a lethal, dark-gold storm of energy that filled the entire subterranean complex!
"Together, King?" Lyra rasped, her eyes burning like twin suns.
"Together, my Queen," Caelum rumbled, his claws extending as he leaped forward toward his traitorous brother!
The battle in the War Room was short and violent.
Fused with Lyra’s solar light, Caelum’s shadow magic became completely unstoppable. His blades sliced through the void knights like paper and Lyra’s solar bursts nullified the dark magic shields of Victor.
Seeing his forces obliterated in seconds, Victor cursed, coughing up dark blood as Caelum’s shadow claw grazed his shoulder.
"This isn't over, Caelum!" Victor spat, stepping backward into the flickering portal. "The Blood Moon rises tonight! The seal beneath your vault is already cracking!"
Victor vanished into the portal just as it snapped shut, leaving the War Room in ruined silence.
Heavy silence hung in the dust-filled room. The other generals fell to their knees in awe before Caelum and Lyra, their eyes wide in reverence for the co-rulers' unmatched power.
Caelum spun around to Lyra, chest heaving, dark eyes scanning her face. “Are you ok?
"I am well enough, Caelum," she breathed softly, her solar light dwindling as fatigue overwhelmed her body.
Before she could trip, Caelum’s massive arms caught her, effortlessly scooping her up into his strong arms and holding her tight against his heart. He carried her out of the ruined war room, heading straight for the privacy of the royal quarters.
