MasukI immediately hung up the call and pushed him away.
“Just get out, you are invading my privacy. You even tried—“ I wasn’t able to finish what I’m about to say when he speaks. “Tried what?” I chuckled. “Seriously?” I ask sarcastically. “You almost kissed me!” “And?” I raised both my eyebrows. “What do you mean by and, huh?” His gaze never left mine. The room fell into a heavy silence, broken only when he finally spoke. “Whatever, go and have a goodnight.” He walks out and closes the door. I was left dumbfounded. . Morning has come and I am walking in the hallways. When I arrived at the room, I saw Lacrus sitting at his desk, waiting for students to come. Our eyes locked for a moment and immediately looked away to avoid him. “Princess!” Gab shouts and hugs me tightly. “Guess what, I have something to tell you.” His eyes were smiling, I could see it! “Let me guess, new girl?” He chuckled and both of us sat in our respective seats. “How did you know that?” I rolled my eyes. It’s so obvious. “We’ve been friends for years already, Gab. You think I still don’t know you?” As I spoke those words, I could feel someone was watching us. I know it was him. “Yeah, we’ve been friends for years and you still haven’t fallen for me?” My eyebrows raised for a moment. “It was a joke, silly!” I knew I wasn’t imagining things. His eyes never left us as Gab and I talked, lingering just a little too long to be dismissed as coincidence. It was the same look he’d worn since last night, right after Gab had quietly said, “I miss you.” I frowned. What on earth was his problem? Class was finally over. Since I didn’t have any more classes for the day, I decided to head home. I wanted to get some rest first before spending the rest of the afternoon at a café. While I was waiting for Calix to pick me up, I saw his car stopped in front of me. He rolled his window and looked at me. “Calix is busy, he can’t pick you up,” he speaks as he looks at me. I look around first before responding. “I thought you don’t want anyone to see us here?” I ask. “This is not the car I drove as a professor. Hop on or I’ll leave you here,” he replied. I turned to look at the car, and he was right. He usually drove his red car to campus, but this time, he had shown up in his black one. I don’t have a choice but to hop on since he was the one who said it, Calix won’t be able to pick me up. He was just driving silently while I was on my phone, scrolling through social media. After a few minutes he broke the silence. “There’s a private yacht party tomorrow evening, and we’re both expected to attend. Word of our engagement has already made its way through the circles of the country’s wealthiest families. We’ll be shopping tonight.” My eyes widened in shock. I have been at parties since father would always include me but to meet those people as his wife? What should I do? It’s a lot of pressure! “You don’t need to speak with them if you are not comfortable, you can just stand on my side. I’ll do the talking,” he speaks once again. I look at him. “But I will try,” I murmured. He looks back at me and smiles. “Anyway, I’m sorry for what happened last night. It was just—“ he stops talking. Maybe he doesn't know what to say. “It’s fine,” I responded. “Are you hungry?” “Kind of.” “What do you want to eat?” “Anything that is nice to eat, a fast food restaurant is enough.” His forehead wrinkled. “Are you sure? I can buy anything.” “Yeah, I dislike eating in fancy restaurants. It has been my dream to eat it since I was a kid.” Although my father was able to adopt me, I don’t have any courage to speak what I want. Whatever he gives, I always thank him for it. “Alright.” After a few more minutes we went to a drive thru and he really gave me what I wanted which made me so happy. I could see my ears flapping as I eat the food he bought for me. “You eat like a kid.” “It’s better than acting like a kid.” He raised his left eyebrow. “Are you trying to say that I act like a kid?” “What? No. I didn’t say that.” I take one more bite and finish before asking. “What’s your reason for picking me instead of my sister, anyway? She is more mature and beautiful than me. Wealthy men like you need that face card.” He froze for a moment, like he was thinking of something. “Do I really need to explain the reason why?” “Yeah, that is why I am asking.” “Maybe because you’re too easy to bully.”I nearly choked on the bite I had just taken. What the hell was that supposed to mean? “Are you trying to start a fight?” He smirks and looks at me. “No, I’m just answering your question.” “That was an ugly and petty reason.” “You’re the ugliest one here, Elsie.” “Oh really? You want me—“ I wasn’t able to finish my words when he suddenly kissed me which made my eyes widened. What the hell. That was random!I’m still standing at the place where Lacrus left me; I don't know whether I'm going to where he is or trying to go somewhere. While I was focusing on gathering my thoughts in a crowded place, someone's hand held mine, causing me to look. It was my father. Of course! How could I forget him!?“Feeling anxious again, dear?” My eyes were getting teary, which made me jump to hug him. “Yes, father,” I replied as I was hugging him tightly. He pats my back and starts whispering. “Where is Mr. Valencia? He should be with you right now, especially in an event like this. Rumors will spread like wildfire sooner or later, it could damage your reputation.” I could sense the worriness in his voice. It is true that in gatherings like this or a party, wealthy people would make things very complicated. They can spread rumors about things which are not true, but, can not being with him really damage my name? “He is just busy talking with them, father. I am fine, besides you are here with me. We c
I wasn't able to move after what he did. I just let him kiss me, a smack kiss. After a few seconds, his eyes locked mine for a moment and looked behind me. I was curious so I looked at where he was looking. There I saw a man standing, looking at us. Is he the reason why he kisses me? “Let’s go shopping,” he said and started driving. Who is that man by the way? Is he acting to kiss me for that man? Urgh, so many questions in my head! After buying things I needed for the party, I immediately went to my room to let my body relax. I was so tired from walking in that huge mall! Tomorrow afternoon, all those things we bought will be delivered here. I look at my phone when I receive a notification. “Oh, father will be there too. I can’t wait to see him again!” I murmured as I drew a smile on my lips. “Alright, let us have a good night's sleep!” . Classes were dismissed earlier than expected yet there are a lot of things I needed to do. I don’t even know what to do first since the par

I look at them both back and forth to see their reaction. I can see Lacrus’ eyes glaring at Gab while Gab was looking at him confusedly. “Professor? Why? Is there something wrong?” Gab asks as he smiles awkwardly. Lacrus just stood there until he cleared his throat to speak. “Nothing, I just want to know your name. If I am not mistaken, you are one of my students, right?” Gab smiles. “Yes, professor. I am happy you know me.” Lacrus' looks at me and then looks back at Gab. “I am Gab. I am Elsie’s best friend,” Gab replies again. “I see.” I can sense something from the tone of his voice. “Anyway, have fun. Sorry for disturbing your conversation.” He smiles and leaves with his food. I just look at him until my eyes can't reach him anymore. What’s up with that guy? “That was—I was intimidated by his stares, Elsie. He looks scary— no, dangerous!” He whispered and let out a sigh as he placed his hand at his chest. Yeah, kinda. . Classes are done and I’m now on my way to get home. M
Lacrus was walking ahead of me. I continually follows him until we stop at his room. He opened the door and ask me to enter. I look around and remembered what happened before. I slightly shook my head and looks at him. “Is there anything I can help you with?” I ask. “Yes.” I nod. “What is it?” “I became a professor to a school where you are studying.” My forehead furrows. “What? Why?” “It is none of your business.” “Then why did you tell me that if it is none of my business?” I saw him slightly sighed. “Just to tell you to keep your mouth shut. I don’t want any students there to know who I am.” Oh? So, he will disguise himself so people won’t know who he is? Like what? “And?” “That’s all.” “You bring me here just to tell that?” I irritatedly ask. “Yes, because even Madam Theresse and other people here don't know that. Only Calix and you knows. I just want to tell you this knowing your personality, you might call my name.” I just went silent
I was frozen the moment his eyes met mine. His sharp eyes turned my body into stone. I can’t move! “Get out!” He shouted in anger that made me abruptly close the door and run to where I could hide. I saw another room with white door and that is where I decided to hide. I immediately close the door and lock it. “Oh, man. First day in his house, I made him furious!?” I lay down on the floor, getting teary-eyed by how it affects me. I really don’t want to get shouted; it makes my heart aches. I calm myself down. I breathe in and out, like father told me whenever I experienced this. After moments of time, I finally help myself calm down. It almost dark and I heard Madam Theresse knocks at the door, telling me to come out but I was so ashamed of what happened earlier. I can’t face any of them, especially him. “I wanna go home. I want to talk with father in my room,” I silently cries and hugs my knees as I sat in my bed. I slowly looked at the door when I heard the do
“Did you make them leave just for you to bully me? Mr. Lacrus Valencia?” He raises his left eyebrow before speaking. “It is not bullying. I am just stating the truth.” If only I could punch him in the face, I would! He did not say a word again and went back to his seat. “After the contract
“Honey, I am telling you. You are not going to sell our child to that man. You can give Elsie instead!” A woman in her 40s shouted at her husband, sitting on the couch and placing his hand on his chin. “Marrying her off does not mean I am selling our daughter. We don’t have a choice. This is ou
