It pains Lissie to admit that she's ready to leave the lavish room she once stayed in for the last few years. She just had packed her things, ready to disappear before her wicked husband finds out. The room that symbolizes luxury, rigged out by Colton, has now finally became a painful reminder of Colton's unloyalty. Not to mention the perfect time to leave is the rain pouring hard outside matched with a thunderstorm.
The essence of her tidy and minimalist room no longer holds value. Soon, his other woman would vacate this room.
Startled by the sight of a pregnant woman across from her, Ember Wrington hurriedly came to see Lissie with her worried eyes. “What’s going on? Why are you suddenly leaving, Missus Vistagra? This is not something you should mend! Your due date is soon, it's crucial for you to stay in this manor. Mr. Vistagra would be worried about the baby!”
‘Worried? At what ground?’ Lissie’s mind was filled with clouded thoughts. She hoisted her gazes, looking at the housekeeper nonchalantly.
“You don't understand, Ember!” She fiercely affirmed, making the housekeeper’s eyes formed into an O shape. “Tell your boss that I've already sent him an electronic divorce agreement through mail. Sign it as soon as possible. Also, let him know I won't get any surgery!”
Ember tried to take the suitcase in her hand but Lissie protested. She was persistent, and determined to leave. Her eagerness to stay with Colton disappeared. Nonetheless, she doesn't have any reason to stay with him anymore.
With that, Lissie dragged her things out. Now that her room was finally vacated, she couldn't care anymore about what the odds might be now that she left. The brutal rain suddenly came pouring, and the housekeeper Lissie once treated her as a daughter was shouting and urging her to come back. But she already made up her mind.
Her duty as being an obedient wife is done. She will no longer follow any orders from him anymore.
Each rainfall that touched her skin made her shiver. It was cold, and she was drenched because of it but she had no choice but to bear it. The only way to escape Colton's malfeasance is to run away.
However, fate did not allow Lissie from making everything she wanted to transpire.
An Aston Martin abruptly came past her at full speed. The mud was splashed against her clothes and some on her face. However, the Aston Martin pulled over, a man who was wearing a bodyguard uniform stood firmly under the thunderous applause of the sky.
“Missus Vistagra,” he respectfully recognized her.
Lissie has nothing to do with him so he remained walking, completely ignoring one of Colton's clerical assistants. “Mr. Vistagra instructed me to accompany you to the hospital.” He affirmed, gently getting her things off her hands.
“Tell him I'm not going.” She asserted ballistically.
Kenneth Lim stood against Lissie. He did not allow her anymore to leave and then said, “Something happened in the hospital. The moved the surgery and Mr. Vistagra asked me to get you there safely. Please understand that I'm just following orders, Missus Vistagra.”
She knew that between those lines lies a threat. Lissie can't do anything, she just smiled bitterly before nibbling her lower lip, gently accepting her fate. She held onto her belly carefully before voluntarily came inside a million-dollar limo.
With her current condition, Lissie realized that she has no match for Kenneth. He was an ex-army, now working as one of the bodyguards under her husband Colton. Indeed, Lissie will only harm herself early before the surgery if she insists on leaving.
Silence crept inside the car. She watched the thunderous rain poured down outside her window whilst playing with her fingers. She's nervous, anxious, and overwhelmed.
“If I refuse to come, will the girl die?” Lissie softly murmured but it's enough for Kenneth to hear. “Maybe she deserves that. Don't you agree?” she said without looking at Kenneth.
On the other hand, Kenneth did not speak. He remained silent as he drove the limousine Colton owns.
She felt a hard pang in her chest. Risking the baby and her life for his mistress is something Colton had decided without her consent. Regardless, no options will be served as Colton is known for being a dictator not only in his manor but in all aspects especially in his office.
He did not like people talking back, refusing his orders, and people betraying him. He's allergic to it.
Crossing the 31st Fort Liberty Bridge, Lissie spit her curiosity aloud. “Who is the woman?”
“Her name is Andy Moore, Missus Vistagra.”
Kenneth is the only person who told her about the girl's name. She did not expect it. The shock painted a barren image in her mind. Among all the women that could be his mistress, why does it need to be her? Her blood abruptly boiled, and her mind has been poisoned with anguish.
Trains of thoughts come to her mind. A sudden idea flickered in his mind, sparkling in hope to get away with the Vistagras, especially Colton. In a swift yet dangerous move, Lissie lunged for the steering wheel and took the initiative and drove the car off. Other vehicles have been beeping them, probably because of the chaos in the road.
“You're putting our lives in danger, Missus Vistagra!” Kenneth Lim shouted as he was trying to take the steering wheel from her.
Deaf to his protest, Lissie did not let Kenneth take over. That was the time Lissie felt her belly stinging in pain as if her unborn child could sense the impending danger.
The limousine suddenly fell off the well-known river. Lissie closed her eyes after ogling at the cold, and dark river. The car bumped with ice, leaving a crack on the screen and the water to come in.
On that night, the accident on 31st Fort Liberty bridge caught the attention of plenty of people. The Vistagra got the news and immediately came to the scene. Unfortunately, the traffic jam delayed their arrival.
Amidst the chaos on that bridge, the accident caught plenty of people’s attention. The accident has been publicly announced on television, circulating in the internet stating that Lissie Jones-Vistagra— the wife of Colton Vistagra is now dead because of a car accident.
Lissie was bothered. She’s thinking on what ground Colton might have pulled after declining him. She never has done this before and it might affect her daily life. She has always been following him ever since and never did once Lissie ignored Colton’s orders. He’s a domineering man. He wants everything he says will be followed. Colton has a high pride, is egoistic and hates strong, empowered women- which turned out to be Lissie. One moment, Louis came out of his room with a luggage in his hand. Surprised, Lissie stood up, worried. “Where are you going?” She inquired using her softest voice. Colton sighed heavily and gave Lissie his softest expression. “I’m going back to Southfolk City, Lissie. I had enough time here and it's time to navigate back what I left back in the south.” Unhurriedly, Lissie panicked. What could be the reason why he’s moving out of the blue and without giving me a heads up prior to leaving? She knows something is up! It must be Colton, the wicked, who urged h
Both of them are sitting in the dining area. The two were busy eating their breakfast whilst silence crept in the whole room. Louis was making his coffee whilst Lissie was deeply ogling at the divorce paper Colton sent her last night. ‘God, Lissie. You're stressing yourself too much!’ Lissie affirmed in her mind whilst massaging both her temple, looking a bit tired and stressed. “So what did you guys talk about last night?” Louis broke the silence eloping them. Louis was intrigued. He may not say it directly but he's worried about Lissie. When Colton had already left, Rogelio, the guard, called Louis that someone was making a scene. He checked the CCTV himself when he went home and found out it was Colton all along. Worried, Louis came home early, leaving the party and his friends behind only for him to find Lissie peacefully sleeping inside her bedroom. His heart was at peace seeing she doesn't have any scratches or burns. He's glad Colton did not force her doing extremities beca
Cindy had always been distant towards Lissie ever since she wedded his son, Colton. She never felt that Cindy was affectionate towards her. Colton's mother didn't give a damn when they were still in their process of marriage, yet Cindy's treatment toward Lissie left her utterly confused. Lissie can’t figure out if Cindy favors her or the other way around. Perhaps Cindy just doesn’t give a damn about her existence. Later on at the villa, she bumped into Louis. He was standing resolutely across Lissie. He absolutely waited for her arrival. Lissie heaved a sigh as the woman jumped on the couch. Her feet ache and the mixed emotions she bears all throughout meeting with the Vistagra’s lingers inside her heart. It bothers Lissie so much. “What are you looking at?” she inquired, hoisting her eyebrows whilst looking at Louis. He’s been carefully watching Lissie for minutes now! It annoys her. Louis took a deep breath and sat across from Lissie. “Nothing, I am just worried about you.” Lou
Lissie was extremely flabbergasted. Before Lissie could pull her thoughts, Christian pushed through his words— cutting the woman's freedom to speak. “I'll be brutally honest. I'm not in my best condition. My time is running out and I might say goodbye anytime but before that happens, I want to be with you.” “Grandpa, I…”“I've endured too much pain since I lost you, sweetheart. I don't think I could suffer another pain again if you divorce my grandson. All I want is to be happy, for our home to attain happiness filled with life and laughter.” His words exactly stabbed Lissie straight to her heart. She was taken aback. Lissie struggled to convey her protest because she doesn't want to disappoint her grandpa nor make him sad. She loves him so much! Old Mr. Vistagta held Lissie's hand. “I know it's such a big request. Your future is on the line,” he affirmed. “But the idea of you leaving my household breaks my heart. Besides, you're the only lady of the mansion I only want. Freeing yo
It was hard for Lissie to sleep inside her room. Memories lingers in her mind like bumping cars outside the street. She was just staring blankly at the ceiling with her eyes widened. Her body is tired but her spirit is still awake. Minutes later, familiarizing herself back to her old room, Lissie fell into a deep slumber. Her body adjusted, it was far different from her bed in her unit but she's comfortable enough to fall asleep. The next day, old Mr. Vistagra and his grandson Colton shared the dining table together, eating the breakfast Cindy and the housekeeper prepared. “This salad is good for you. Mind you, I woke up early to give you this.” Cindy affirmed whilst getting a small scoop for Christian. Behind them was Kaleb, who was teary-eyed seeing Christian and Colton are back at the same spot again. “It's glad to see you joining breakfast after five years, Mr. Vistagra. I'm glad you're back.” Kaleb greeted him with compassion in his voice. Lissie's absences for the past few
There was a dead atmosphere at the Vistagra's dining area. The place was filled with silence but the tension with each family member was high. Old Mr. Vistagra hasn't attended casual dinners for a long time now which led them into an awkward position. What made everyone quiet as well was because of Colton's abrupt appearance. Cindy didn't like the atmosphere so she pretended to be happy and offered the briskets to the sick old man. “Why don't you try it? I followed the recipe through the procedures in the book our ancestors provided, Christian.” She affirmed with her head high, confident that people inside will like it. “Isn't this also your favorite Lissie?” Lissie's eyes went to her ex mother in law. She wiped her mouth using the table napkin before forcing a flat smile. “Yes.” Cindy put a small portion on her plate. Colton and Callie had their eyes on their mom. The darkness and stern in his eyes didn't vanish. Instead, he was just observing the way Lissie talked with his grandf
