Colton leaned on a massive marble wall, waiting for Lissie to come out. His dark features remained visible, and Lissie was stunned to see the man outside the comfort room. She did not anticipate Colton would comfort her too soon.
Colton did not let Lissie pass. He saw Lissie make a face when her eyes set at the cigarette he was holding. Colton dropped it down, stepped on it before gazing back at Lissie.
“Lissie Jones,” he called her name with a swirling emotion. Desperation, and longing flashed in his eyes.
Ignoring him, Lissie threw a disposable tissue near her. She doesn't want to have a conversation or engagement with Colton. Thinking and seeing him only reminds her of the painful past she had with her ex-husband. There's no way she'd throw herself to his nightmare den again.
As Lissie attempted to pass by, Colton grabbed her hand. He pushed her a little towards the marble wall. “Release me all at once. This is not something an engaged person should do. Cornering a woman?” Lissie affirmed nonchalantly, and scoffed.
Colton's stares at her remained nonchalant, regal, and ballistic. Despite his imposing frame, Lissie remained stoic. “Get off.” She gave him a warning yet Colton pretends he's deaf.
“Don't you have anything to say to me?” His affirmation was stone-still.
Lissie Jones scoffed, resentment flashed in her eyes. “And what exactly should I say to you? We have no business to discuss with, Mr. Vistagra!” Her initial response provoked the man even more. His demeanor took a drastic change, his calm stares turned into a hard, ballistic, and stoic one.
“I’ve been looking for you for five fucking years!” He blurted out, holding his glamorous ex-wife’s arm. His clenched consolidated, making Lissie hurt from his tight grip.
Despite relentless effort finding his beloved ex-wife, Lissie successfully hid beyond his reach. He never found her, he never found out whether she's pregnant or not. The accident occured at 31st Fort Liberty Bridge made a drastic change in his life. Colton has never been the same.
Her sarcastic chuckle echoed. “Why? Do you need my blood to save your mistress… oh, I meant fiancé! She's your fiancé now, not your mistress. Ah, my silly little mouth.” She affirmed, covering her mouth with a class.
Colton's eyes darkened. Lissie addressing Andy as his fiancé seemed to provoke him more rather than Lissie calling Andy his mistress.
“Lissie!”
Lissie clicked her tongue. “I don't know what's gotten into you, Colton. Now spare me from this nonsense and let me pass! I don't want to engage in any conversation with you!” She shot back, urging herself to leave yet Colton won't just let her pass.
She couldn't, wouldn't, forget that Colton was once willing to trade their unborn child's life for a woman— for his mistress. Hatred filled up in Lissie's eyes, she wanted to slap him right now but Lissie held her ground. “Can't you just back off?”
Colton did not speak. His eyes remained stoic, icy and off track.
“I gotta say I'm shocked, curious as to where you got the bone marrow implant to save your darling's life. Back then, it’s me and our child who paid the price for the life of your mistress, Colton.” She affirmed bitterly, with a sweet plastic smile on her face. Later on, Lissie scoffed. “Such a pity though. Still alive and kicking.” She mocked.
“Enough, Lissie!” He retorted back.
It made Lissie stunned. Between then, she should be the one who's mad at his unloyalty. Now, Colton is turning the tables!
“Calm down, I was just talking to myself. Did you get offended?” Lissie asserted in a mocking way. “Deserved.”
Lissie thinks Colton doesn't seem to be happy now that she's alive. He has never been.
Complex emotions swirled inside Colton. He didn't know Lissie could be this confident and defiant.
Before the argument could turn into a huge mess, Lissie was relieved the moment Louis came to fetch her. He looked distressed, he did not anticipate for the two to interact so soon. Lissie felt the upcoming tension so she went to where Louis was.
“We should go home now, Lisse.” Louis affirmed, holding the woman's back in a gentle way making Colton bite his lower lip.
Back then, he's the only person who touched her like that. Now, his place has been replaced by someone else now.
“Mom was calling and she couldn't reach you. She prepared some dinner for us to celebrate your success.” Louis gave her a soft smile. “Hurry, babe. She's looking for us. The party is already over.”
As they are about to leave, Colton trailed the two with his cold voice. “Is he your new man?”
Lissie took a deep breath before swerving around and faced Colton. “Correction, Mr. Vistagra. He's not just my man. He's my husband.”
Colton Vistagra was too stunned to speak. “Your new husband?” Surprise flows in his tone.
His head spun, struggling to take her declamations. Her words echoed in his mind, each repetition added fury to his fire.
Only a scoff Lissie retorted. She believed she had nothing to explain to him. She doesn't owe him anything anyway, why would she delay from leaving and make Colton understand? Only a foolish and stupid person will do that.
As the two were about to leave, Colton ceased them the second time around. He held onto her wrist tight, almost crashing her arm making Lissie squirm and Louis attentive.
“Repeat what you said.” He blatantly urged Lissie to comply.
Lissie forcefully took her hands off him and grunted. “He's my husband! What in my word you can't understand?!”
For a moment, Colton's eyes darkened. It was different from how it was a couple of minutes ago. “Do you freaking understand what you're saying?”
“Should I repeat myself again thrice? You heard me correctly. I don't owe you anything now stop bothering me!”
Before Colton could fire back, Louis Brown immediately took over and spoke. “You're taking half of our time, Mr. Vistagra. I believe we have nothing to explain. My wife is tired. If you excuse us…”
Colton Vistagra watched how her ex-wife left with a man. He was holding Lissie's hand, intertwined. For a moment, he felt disgust and anger toward Louis. It should be his place, he should be the one taking her home and sleeping with but now… it's Louis Brown taking care of his ex-wife.
Regret resurfaced within Colton's shell.
Lissie was bothered. She’s thinking on what ground Colton might have pulled after declining him. She never has done this before and it might affect her daily life. She has always been following him ever since and never did once Lissie ignored Colton’s orders. He’s a domineering man. He wants everything he says will be followed. Colton has a high pride, is egoistic and hates strong, empowered women- which turned out to be Lissie. One moment, Louis came out of his room with a luggage in his hand. Surprised, Lissie stood up, worried. “Where are you going?” She inquired using her softest voice. Colton sighed heavily and gave Lissie his softest expression. “I’m going back to Southfolk City, Lissie. I had enough time here and it's time to navigate back what I left back in the south.” Unhurriedly, Lissie panicked. What could be the reason why he’s moving out of the blue and without giving me a heads up prior to leaving? She knows something is up! It must be Colton, the wicked, who urged h
Both of them are sitting in the dining area. The two were busy eating their breakfast whilst silence crept in the whole room. Louis was making his coffee whilst Lissie was deeply ogling at the divorce paper Colton sent her last night. ‘God, Lissie. You're stressing yourself too much!’ Lissie affirmed in her mind whilst massaging both her temple, looking a bit tired and stressed. “So what did you guys talk about last night?” Louis broke the silence eloping them. Louis was intrigued. He may not say it directly but he's worried about Lissie. When Colton had already left, Rogelio, the guard, called Louis that someone was making a scene. He checked the CCTV himself when he went home and found out it was Colton all along. Worried, Louis came home early, leaving the party and his friends behind only for him to find Lissie peacefully sleeping inside her bedroom. His heart was at peace seeing she doesn't have any scratches or burns. He's glad Colton did not force her doing extremities beca
Cindy had always been distant towards Lissie ever since she wedded his son, Colton. She never felt that Cindy was affectionate towards her. Colton's mother didn't give a damn when they were still in their process of marriage, yet Cindy's treatment toward Lissie left her utterly confused. Lissie can’t figure out if Cindy favors her or the other way around. Perhaps Cindy just doesn’t give a damn about her existence. Later on at the villa, she bumped into Louis. He was standing resolutely across Lissie. He absolutely waited for her arrival. Lissie heaved a sigh as the woman jumped on the couch. Her feet ache and the mixed emotions she bears all throughout meeting with the Vistagra’s lingers inside her heart. It bothers Lissie so much. “What are you looking at?” she inquired, hoisting her eyebrows whilst looking at Louis. He’s been carefully watching Lissie for minutes now! It annoys her. Louis took a deep breath and sat across from Lissie. “Nothing, I am just worried about you.” Lou
Lissie was extremely flabbergasted. Before Lissie could pull her thoughts, Christian pushed through his words— cutting the woman's freedom to speak. “I'll be brutally honest. I'm not in my best condition. My time is running out and I might say goodbye anytime but before that happens, I want to be with you.” “Grandpa, I…”“I've endured too much pain since I lost you, sweetheart. I don't think I could suffer another pain again if you divorce my grandson. All I want is to be happy, for our home to attain happiness filled with life and laughter.” His words exactly stabbed Lissie straight to her heart. She was taken aback. Lissie struggled to convey her protest because she doesn't want to disappoint her grandpa nor make him sad. She loves him so much! Old Mr. Vistagta held Lissie's hand. “I know it's such a big request. Your future is on the line,” he affirmed. “But the idea of you leaving my household breaks my heart. Besides, you're the only lady of the mansion I only want. Freeing yo
It was hard for Lissie to sleep inside her room. Memories lingers in her mind like bumping cars outside the street. She was just staring blankly at the ceiling with her eyes widened. Her body is tired but her spirit is still awake. Minutes later, familiarizing herself back to her old room, Lissie fell into a deep slumber. Her body adjusted, it was far different from her bed in her unit but she's comfortable enough to fall asleep. The next day, old Mr. Vistagra and his grandson Colton shared the dining table together, eating the breakfast Cindy and the housekeeper prepared. “This salad is good for you. Mind you, I woke up early to give you this.” Cindy affirmed whilst getting a small scoop for Christian. Behind them was Kaleb, who was teary-eyed seeing Christian and Colton are back at the same spot again. “It's glad to see you joining breakfast after five years, Mr. Vistagra. I'm glad you're back.” Kaleb greeted him with compassion in his voice. Lissie's absences for the past few
There was a dead atmosphere at the Vistagra's dining area. The place was filled with silence but the tension with each family member was high. Old Mr. Vistagra hasn't attended casual dinners for a long time now which led them into an awkward position. What made everyone quiet as well was because of Colton's abrupt appearance. Cindy didn't like the atmosphere so she pretended to be happy and offered the briskets to the sick old man. “Why don't you try it? I followed the recipe through the procedures in the book our ancestors provided, Christian.” She affirmed with her head high, confident that people inside will like it. “Isn't this also your favorite Lissie?” Lissie's eyes went to her ex mother in law. She wiped her mouth using the table napkin before forcing a flat smile. “Yes.” Cindy put a small portion on her plate. Colton and Callie had their eyes on their mom. The darkness and stern in his eyes didn't vanish. Instead, he was just observing the way Lissie talked with his grandf
