Louis dropped Lissie at Enclaves Harbor, alone inside the vast residence. The night made her drained the moment she woke up in the morning. Lissie prepared her breakfast, and whilst she's in the midst of driving, Lissie's phone rang.
Louis' name registered as the caller. Lissie hurriedly and picked up the call.
“What’s up?” Lissie affirmed whilst driving.
“I've been calling since 7 o’ clock in the morning,” Louis' voice sounded stoic. “Have you seen the news?”
“Oh, I'm sorry. I was busy earlier. What happened?”
Louis took a deep breath. “I think you should—” Louis failed to complete his sentence when a car bumped at Lissie's limited edition Lamborghini.
Fortunately, Lissie was wearing her seatbelt, protecting her from getting any injury. Good thing, she's just driving at a moderate speed. If she goes any faster, surely she'd die. But indeed, people were right. Fortune favors the brave.
Glancing beyond the windshield, Lissie's eyes set at a limousine that weighs a million-dollar cost.
On the other hand, Louis was trying to get Lissie's attention at the other line, perturbed at the huge bang he heard. “Hey, answer me! Are you okay? Tell me where you are, I'll call an ambulance!” He muttered between the lines.
Lissie closed her eyes gently, annoyed at the daredevil who just bumped her car. Lissie went out to see the result in her car. Fortunately, it's not that much. However, as she was waiting for the car's owner, Lissie was taken aback to see Homer Saltouen rolling over in the driver's seat.
“Lissie! Are you okay? Damn, speak up!” She heard Louis' worried voice on her phone that slipped her hand.
Homer bowed a little, showing respect towards the ex-wife of his boss. Homer's abrupt move had Lissie astounded, he opened the car's door. “Missus Vistagra, Mr. Vistagra wants to speak with you.” He affirmed in a consolidating tone.
Hearing her old title had Lissie rolling her eyes. Lissie furrowed her eyes in mere annoyance and irritation. She didn't like what Homer called her, she believed that it's too disrespectful on her part. Missus Vistagra? Jesus Christ!
“Call me Missus Vistagra again and I'll kick you out of this road, Mr. Saltouen. I parted ways from your boss five years ago, perhaps it slipped in your mind. Then I guess all I need to do is to remind you.” I affirmed stoically, my icy stares challenged Homer's dark eyes.
Astounded for a moment, Homer didn't retort back to Lissie's please. Instead, Homer insisted Lissie comply. “Please come out.”
It seems radiating to hear now that Her stopped calling her Mrs. Vistagra. Feeling slightly cornered, she took a deep breath and fixed the strand of her hair that crossed her face. “Is your boss trying to corner me? He never changed. Domineering and deceitful!” Lissie muttered bitterly, “and what if I refuse? What are you going to do?”
In response, Homer lent his iPad to her. “Let me show it to you, ma'am. Please have a look.” The respectful manner in his tone never vanished.
On the other hand, Lissie's eyes glanced at the tablet. As she was skimming the information, Lissie became stone-still the moment one information caught her attention.
“Should I assist you where Mr. Vistagra is?” Homer inquired, maintaining every bit of respect he has for Lissie.
Annoyed, she came out of her car, and clenched her fist. “Fine! Show me the way!”
Homer opened the car's door for her. Colton's fresh wave of fury happened to appear in front of Lissie. She clicked her tongue first, craned her neck as she hopped inside.
The car was filled with tension. Her eyes set at Homer who jumped off in her car, driving it away to nowhere making Lissie grit her teeth.
‘And where is he going using my car?!’ Lissie gritted her teeth.
Supposedly, her phone is still inside. Perhaps Louis Brown the call isn't yet hung up.
Before Lissie could spit out her bearings, Colton took her in his lap in a forceful manner. Lissie's eyes widened, astounded with his current actions.
“What the fuck are you trying to pull?!”
The car his driver bumped is already enough for Lissie to get annoyed. She couldn't handle bullshit anymore!
“No. I should be the one who should ask you that. What the fuck are you doing?” He affirmed in his most hard, stoic, and regal assertion.
Colton's callus hands gripped on her chin, tightening his hold on her forearm. “Colton, you…” Lissie squirmed.
Her protests ceased the moment Colton crashed his lips against his ex-wife, a hot, fuming and longing kiss eloped the two.
Taken by surprise, Lissie pushed Colton's chest but Colton overpowered him and pushed against the car seat. Driven by fury, Lissie managed to slap Colton in his right cheek. Hard and roughly made a sound.
However, the slap didn't stop Colton from leaning closer even more. Instead, it made him mad further. He tried to lean closer, forcing Lissie to kiss him back but to no avail, Lissie is no longer the same as what she was before.
Her eyes welled up in tears, fighting Colton with anger. Colton effortlessly halted every Lissie's urge to hurt him. Due to heavy arrogance Colton showed her, Lissie regained all her strength and crashed his forehead against his. Colton was taken aback, bearing the pain he took from the headbutt Lissie executed.
‘Fuck. Does she hate me so much to the point she’s willing to hurt herself in order to get off my grip?’ Colton affirmed to himself.
The impact made Lissie groan in pain. Her defiant eyes drifted at Colton. She almost slapped him again but Lissie managed to hold her ground. Wincing, Colton saw Lissie's eyes almost shoving in tears. A pang of regret had his heart halted.
“When you have gotten into an accident, you're pregnant. Almost due. Is he okay?” Colton's low voice engulfed the two inside his car.
“He's dead.” Lissie muttered coldly without looking at Colton's hurt eyes.
Colton's keen eyes tried to seek deception at Lissie's stares yet he found nothing other than hatred and mourning. He tried to ease her one more time by pulling her closer. “I know you're just lying. You hate me because—”
Amidst Colton's pulling, Lissie slapped him in his chest. “Do you want to know how our child died, huh? It was because his father didn't love him! His father is willing to trade his life for his mistress! Happy?”
Colton didn't foresee Lissie's abrupt burst. He wasn't ready. Pain in her eyes showed up. A small tear comes out her pretty eyes and Colton can't do anything to consolidate her.
Resentment, longing, frustration and venomous emotion reflected in Lissie's eyes. The love once she had for the man in front of him was no longer there, rather replaced by hatred.
“You don't know what kind of pain a parent bears when his child is taken away from her. What will I expect to someone like you though? You're always a selfish, scheming and deceitful person, Colton. I regret marrying you.”
For a moment, Colton was stunned hearing Lissie's declaration. His breathing hitched. Her words cut deeply inside his heart, tainting the small space he has for his ex-wife.
Lissie was bothered. She’s thinking on what ground Colton might have pulled after declining him. She never has done this before and it might affect her daily life. She has always been following him ever since and never did once Lissie ignored Colton’s orders. He’s a domineering man. He wants everything he says will be followed. Colton has a high pride, is egoistic and hates strong, empowered women- which turned out to be Lissie. One moment, Louis came out of his room with a luggage in his hand. Surprised, Lissie stood up, worried. “Where are you going?” She inquired using her softest voice. Colton sighed heavily and gave Lissie his softest expression. “I’m going back to Southfolk City, Lissie. I had enough time here and it's time to navigate back what I left back in the south.” Unhurriedly, Lissie panicked. What could be the reason why he’s moving out of the blue and without giving me a heads up prior to leaving? She knows something is up! It must be Colton, the wicked, who urged h
Both of them are sitting in the dining area. The two were busy eating their breakfast whilst silence crept in the whole room. Louis was making his coffee whilst Lissie was deeply ogling at the divorce paper Colton sent her last night. ‘God, Lissie. You're stressing yourself too much!’ Lissie affirmed in her mind whilst massaging both her temple, looking a bit tired and stressed. “So what did you guys talk about last night?” Louis broke the silence eloping them. Louis was intrigued. He may not say it directly but he's worried about Lissie. When Colton had already left, Rogelio, the guard, called Louis that someone was making a scene. He checked the CCTV himself when he went home and found out it was Colton all along. Worried, Louis came home early, leaving the party and his friends behind only for him to find Lissie peacefully sleeping inside her bedroom. His heart was at peace seeing she doesn't have any scratches or burns. He's glad Colton did not force her doing extremities beca
Cindy had always been distant towards Lissie ever since she wedded his son, Colton. She never felt that Cindy was affectionate towards her. Colton's mother didn't give a damn when they were still in their process of marriage, yet Cindy's treatment toward Lissie left her utterly confused. Lissie can’t figure out if Cindy favors her or the other way around. Perhaps Cindy just doesn’t give a damn about her existence. Later on at the villa, she bumped into Louis. He was standing resolutely across Lissie. He absolutely waited for her arrival. Lissie heaved a sigh as the woman jumped on the couch. Her feet ache and the mixed emotions she bears all throughout meeting with the Vistagra’s lingers inside her heart. It bothers Lissie so much. “What are you looking at?” she inquired, hoisting her eyebrows whilst looking at Louis. He’s been carefully watching Lissie for minutes now! It annoys her. Louis took a deep breath and sat across from Lissie. “Nothing, I am just worried about you.” Lou
Lissie was extremely flabbergasted. Before Lissie could pull her thoughts, Christian pushed through his words— cutting the woman's freedom to speak. “I'll be brutally honest. I'm not in my best condition. My time is running out and I might say goodbye anytime but before that happens, I want to be with you.” “Grandpa, I…”“I've endured too much pain since I lost you, sweetheart. I don't think I could suffer another pain again if you divorce my grandson. All I want is to be happy, for our home to attain happiness filled with life and laughter.” His words exactly stabbed Lissie straight to her heart. She was taken aback. Lissie struggled to convey her protest because she doesn't want to disappoint her grandpa nor make him sad. She loves him so much! Old Mr. Vistagta held Lissie's hand. “I know it's such a big request. Your future is on the line,” he affirmed. “But the idea of you leaving my household breaks my heart. Besides, you're the only lady of the mansion I only want. Freeing yo
It was hard for Lissie to sleep inside her room. Memories lingers in her mind like bumping cars outside the street. She was just staring blankly at the ceiling with her eyes widened. Her body is tired but her spirit is still awake. Minutes later, familiarizing herself back to her old room, Lissie fell into a deep slumber. Her body adjusted, it was far different from her bed in her unit but she's comfortable enough to fall asleep. The next day, old Mr. Vistagra and his grandson Colton shared the dining table together, eating the breakfast Cindy and the housekeeper prepared. “This salad is good for you. Mind you, I woke up early to give you this.” Cindy affirmed whilst getting a small scoop for Christian. Behind them was Kaleb, who was teary-eyed seeing Christian and Colton are back at the same spot again. “It's glad to see you joining breakfast after five years, Mr. Vistagra. I'm glad you're back.” Kaleb greeted him with compassion in his voice. Lissie's absences for the past few
There was a dead atmosphere at the Vistagra's dining area. The place was filled with silence but the tension with each family member was high. Old Mr. Vistagra hasn't attended casual dinners for a long time now which led them into an awkward position. What made everyone quiet as well was because of Colton's abrupt appearance. Cindy didn't like the atmosphere so she pretended to be happy and offered the briskets to the sick old man. “Why don't you try it? I followed the recipe through the procedures in the book our ancestors provided, Christian.” She affirmed with her head high, confident that people inside will like it. “Isn't this also your favorite Lissie?” Lissie's eyes went to her ex mother in law. She wiped her mouth using the table napkin before forcing a flat smile. “Yes.” Cindy put a small portion on her plate. Colton and Callie had their eyes on their mom. The darkness and stern in his eyes didn't vanish. Instead, he was just observing the way Lissie talked with his grandf
