**REIKA/ZARA**
A shrill horn pierced through the silence of the evening. Outside, the sky had begun to darken and a cool breeze blew through the open windows. Arya placed silver jewelry around my neck before running a brush through my thick red hair once again. The image in the mirror nearly sent me flying. The body I was in was magnificent, with the dress hugging her generous curves, full red lips and thick lashes framed large doe eyes. It was evident why the Alpha kept her as his mistress over his fiancé. Well, Zara was gone. Now it's Reika and she's about to become Luna. “Thank you, Arya.” I wrapped a fur shawl around my shoulders and stepped out of the room, my anxiety returning. “Where is the ceremony taking place?” “It's at the left wing of the house. Don't worry, I'll lead you there,” I nodded, grateful for the offer, and busied myself with admiring the decor as we walked. I could see the reason why Ravenclaw was the biggest and most influential pack in the region. The interior exuded power and taste, more sophisticated than my pack or any other pack I may have visited. I moved to stand at the corner as a trail of soldiers marched through the corridor and suddenly had the crippling feeling of being watched. My eyes landed on a soldier, dressed in black armor with a mask shielding his face. His gaze was pinned on me, sending shivers down my spine as I averted my gaze. He came closer, making me move further to the edge. It did nothing to help as he brushed my shoulder with his cold steel armor, sparing me nothing but a grunt before disappearing. But that wasn't what caused my breath to hitch. I opened my fingers to see a neatly folded paper pressed in it. Was he a witch? How was he able to slip in something without my notice? Furthermore, who the hell was he? As Arya continued the journey to the ceremony hall, I cracked open the paper, my eyes scanning the surroundings to be sure we were truly alone. Three words were hastily scrawled on it. ‘Palm groove. Midnight,’ I squeezed the paper in my palms, contemplating asking Arya who he was but abandoning the idea as she stopped before a high-rise gold-crested double door. “This is it, my lady.” “Thank you, Arya.” I took a deep breath, wiping my clammy palms against my dress as the doors parted open. As I stepped in, a hush fell over the guests, each one turning to gaze at me. Well, what was I expecting? It's not every day the mistress of an Alpha tries to become a Luna! I plastered a warm smile on my face, feeling my trembling reduce as I sighted Alpha Stephan seated on the stage. The murmuring resumed as the doors shut and I exhaled a deep breath from my lungs. I took a stand next to one of the pillars, my eyes scanning the guests. They were all females, dressed to the nines in the trendiest outfits I have ever seen. Their faces were made up so beautifully that I shrank back in my little corner. How did I ever think I could compete against this? If it was my previous body I had an advantage, but this body, a prostitute, has no standard among the sea of elites. The organ mounted at the corner suddenly stopped playing as the alpha stood up, his gaze moving around the hall. This was my chance! In front of him was a lady, her blonde hair woven into a French braid with flowers sticking out from it. She wore a lilac gown which had a fitted bodice, nearly throwing all her bosom in our faces. It was the lady that burst in earlier. Sofia. The ex-fiancée. I moved out of my corner, standing in a spot I was more likely to get his attention. I can't be picked if I was hiding and I need to be picked! “The Alpha will now choose his Luna!” A voice boomed. Alpha Stephan made his way through the crowd, the ladies fawning and batting their eyelashes at him, bending down a bit to flash a hint of their breasts at him. I snorted and deftly raised my fan to cover the smirk that graced my lips. He stopped before a lady, taking her gloved hands in his for a while before dropping it. My heart pounded nervously at the gesture, my brain immediately cooking up a plan b if this one falls through. How was I supposed to run away from the deadliest Alpha? I fanned myself, my anxiety nearly through the roof as the breeze cooled the rising heat in my cheeks. He did the same for three other ladies, trailing his fingertips over their bare skin as if searching for a spark before dropping them. Before I could blink twice, he stood before me, his brown eyes like rich coffee. I swallowed hard, my heart thumping in my ears as he took my hands in his, weaving his fingers through mine. “I choose you.” I blinked, my brain suddenly going blank as he held my hand and pulled me through the crowd and up to the stage. I followed, too stunned to even fight back; not that I wanted to. Too stunned to even pay attention to the snickers and murmuring around me and to the deadly glare being shot my way by Sofia. He guided me up the stage before taking a seat on his throne and pulling me into his lap. “ I have made my choice!” His voice boomed, startling me out of my reverie. I turned to him, my mouth parted in shock at my incredible luck. Not that I was complaining but why was this so easy? What game was he playing? His lips parted in a smirk as if reading my thoughts as he trailed a finger down my open back and brought his lips close to my ears. “Smile. Isn't this what you wanted?” he murmured. I stiffened and turned to the crowd as a smile slowly tugged my lips. He turned to the crowd once more, eyeing Sofia who looked like she was about to fly off and scratch my eyeballs out. “Zara is my Luna. This ceremony is over,” Mission one: Successful!**Reika/Zara**Stephan’s stare made my body feel like it was engulfed in flames. I looked away to hide the blush that stained my cheeks and approached him.The gown felt moulded to my skin, following every move I made.My fingers grazed the jewels that adorned my neck, a knot sprang in my stomach as I recalled a time when I was clothed in nothing but the finest jewels every time.A period that made me feel like I was untouchable. Unhurt. Unbothered by anything.Until Kaid came and I made him the center of my world. I took off my jewels and took up the responsibility of leadership without holding the position and made it my entire purpose to please a man who never saw me.I became invincible in my own kingdom.I sniffed, blinked off the tears that blurred my sight and stepped close to Stephan who still seemed like he was in a trance.“Geez, isn't your reaction too much? Don't forget, you're supposed to hate—oh my gosh! Stephan, you have a nose bleed.” I cried, immediately digging into
**Stephan**I brought the vehicle to a stop inside the garage of a boutique before I finally looked at Zara. She took in the surroundings, eyebrows furrowed, cheeks still pink from earlier and her lips in a pout.Strands of hair floated around her face. I curled my palms into fist to keep from smoothening them off and took the key off the ignition.“This is where you brought us to?” She shrieked, her eyes wide and raging.“Get out of the car, Zara. I can still make good on my promise now.” I answered, a dangerous edge in my voice. She narrowed her eyes before kicking the door open and stepping out.I almost felt bad for my vehicle. After she slammed the door, I remained in the car for a moment, my thoughts raging as a shaky breath escaped my lungs.I couldn't keep staying around her. Not when I knew the consequences.I shouldn't have made her my Luna. Well, it was too late. And considering my options, she was the best.I slipped out of the car and began to walk through the entrance l
**Reika/Zara**I stuck out my tongue at Stephan's closed door, made a punching gesture with my hands curled before stomping away from the room. Why did he always find ways to get under my skin?Well, I had achieved phase one of my plan to stay alive in this body. I just needed to trace Zara's identity and find out how she became embroiled in a secret organisation before the time was up.As I walked down the corridor, I flipped through the pages of the file, my fingers tracing an address written at the corner of the page.Zara isn't originally a member of Raven Claw pack but from a distant land called Arragroove.Arragroove? The name sounded so familiar yet strange.Where have I come across a place like that? If I wasn't mistaken, it was one of the small towns scattered around the kingdom. Was it eradicated? There was barely any information on it.How did she find herself in Raven Claw?My brain crunched up information, racing through the memories of towns I worked with as an Alpha i
**Reika/Zara**My arms were warm. Not from the temperature, but from the presence of a tiny figure laying in them.My baby. My baby was alive.I looked at her, at her wide blue eyes brimming with joy and contentment, at the tiny trail of drool that led from her lips to my fingers. My chest clenched, tears welled up in my eyes and my body trembled with relief and fear.No. This couldn't be real.A tiny palm touched my cheeks, enveloping my nostrils with the sweet scent of baby powder and milk.I lifted her to my chest, my face pressed against her head and rocked her gently.“My baby.” I cooed, stroking her back as her arms flayed wildly. She giggled, grabbed a fistful of my hair and dragged it to her mouth.A sob and chuckle burst from my lips as I tore my hair from her mouth. My baby was alive. I was alive and well. I wasn't killed.Tears poured down my cheeks and I felt my heart warm up.“Please don't take her from me anymore. Please goddess, take everything else except my baby. Ple
**Stephan**My body alarm didn't hesitate to rouse me awake despite how crazy every part of me tried to resist.I cracked my eyes open, the mere act sending my head banging and my muscles clenching in pain.I curled my palms, pushed off the blanket that was folded over my body away and sat upright.I dragged a finger over my eyes, wiping the traces of sleep and intoxication that filled it.“I know, I know. I'm sorry.” I mumbled to my wolf who was growling in my ears, its claws making a distinct scratching sound in my ears.I knew the repercussions for taking so much alcohol was going to be much but I didn't expect it to be this crazy. And my wolf was definitely having none of it.To think I'd have a wolf who strongly disliked alcohol. Like I didn't have enough problems already.I leaned against the head board, my arm still shielding my eyes from the harsh blur of light filtering into the room through the partly opened windows when my nose detected a strange scent in the air.I turned
**Reika/Zara**I trembled like a leaf caught in a heavy downpour.Stephan looked at me like he saw past the mask of his mistress, like he saw the scorned, betrayed and deceased Luna of River brook. How did he find out? What gave it away?“Wh…what do you mean? I'm Zara.” I stuttered, creeping close to the door.Stephan followed me, his steps heavy and unsteady; grabbing the wall as he moved. His breath tickled my neck as I flattened my body against the wall. He's drunk. I could easily push him off and run away.Except there was a team of guards waiting outside my door.No. If there was, it'll be them here, not this drunken fool.Stephan grabbed my chin forcing my head up. I stared at his glassy ocean blue eyes, the flash of pink on his cheeks and his moist lips.“You're not the same girl. You're not the Zara I knew.” He mumbled.“What did you know about her?” I questioned, trying to pry his fingers off my face. They didn't budge.“I never realised you were so good at pretending to be s
