Chapter 5: Luna Ceremony.

**REIKA/ZARA**

A shrill horn pierced through the silence of the evening. Outside, the sky had begun to darken and a cool breeze blew through the open windows.

Arya placed silver jewelry around my neck before running a brush through my thick red hair once again.

The image in the mirror nearly sent me flying.

The body I was in was magnificent, with the dress hugging her generous curves, full red lips and thick lashes framed large doe eyes.

It was evident why the Alpha kept her as his mistress over his fiancé.

Well, Zara was gone. Now it's Reika and she's about to become Luna.

“Thank you, Arya.” I wrapped a fur shawl around my shoulders and stepped out of the room, my anxiety returning.

“Where is the ceremony taking place?”

“It's at the left wing of the house. Don't worry, I'll lead you there,”

I nodded, grateful for the offer, and busied myself with admiring the decor as we walked.

I could see the reason why Ravenclaw was the biggest and most influential pack in the region.

The interior exuded power and taste, more sophisticated than my pack or any other pack I may have visited.

I moved to stand at the corner as a trail of soldiers marched through the corridor and suddenly had the crippling feeling of being watched.

My eyes landed on a soldier, dressed in black armor with a mask shielding his face.

His gaze was pinned on me, sending shivers down my spine as I averted my gaze.

He came closer, making me move further to the edge.

It did nothing to help as he brushed my shoulder with his cold steel armor, sparing me nothing but a grunt before disappearing.

But that wasn't what caused my breath to hitch.

I opened my fingers to see a neatly folded paper pressed in it.

Was he a witch? How was he able to slip in something without my notice? Furthermore, who the hell was he?

As Arya continued the journey to the ceremony hall, I cracked open the paper, my eyes scanning the surroundings to be sure we were truly alone.

Three words were hastily scrawled on it.

‘Palm groove. Midnight,’

I squeezed the paper in my palms, contemplating asking Arya who he was but abandoning the idea as she stopped before a high-rise gold-crested double door.

“This is it, my lady.”

“Thank you, Arya.”

I took a deep breath, wiping my clammy palms against my dress as the doors parted open.

As I stepped in, a hush fell over the guests, each one turning to gaze at me.

Well, what was I expecting? It's not every day the mistress of an Alpha tries to become a Luna!

I plastered a warm smile on my face, feeling my trembling reduce as I sighted Alpha Stephan seated on the stage.

The murmuring resumed as the doors shut and I exhaled a deep breath from my lungs. I took a stand next to one of the pillars, my eyes scanning the guests.

They were all females, dressed to the nines in the trendiest outfits I have ever seen.

Their faces were made up so beautifully that I shrank back in my little corner.

How did I ever think I could compete against this?

If it was my previous body I had an advantage, but this body, a prostitute, has no standard among the sea of elites.

The organ mounted at the corner suddenly stopped playing as the alpha stood up, his gaze moving around the hall.

This was my chance!

In front of him was a lady, her blonde hair woven into a French braid with flowers sticking out from it.

She wore a lilac gown which had a fitted bodice, nearly throwing all her bosom in our faces.

It was the lady that burst in earlier. Sofia. The ex-fiancée.

I moved out of my corner, standing in a spot I was more likely to get his attention.

I can't be picked if I was hiding and I need to be picked!

“The Alpha will now choose his Luna!” A voice boomed.

Alpha Stephan made his way through the crowd, the ladies fawning and batting their eyelashes at him, bending down a bit to flash a hint of their breasts at him.

I snorted and deftly raised my fan to cover the smirk that graced my lips.

He stopped before a lady, taking her gloved hands in his for a while before dropping it.

My heart pounded nervously at the gesture, my brain immediately cooking up a plan b if this one falls through.

How was I supposed to run away from the deadliest Alpha?

I fanned myself, my anxiety nearly through the roof as the breeze cooled the rising heat in my cheeks.

He did the same for three other ladies, trailing his fingertips over their bare skin as if searching for a spark before dropping them.

Before I could blink twice, he stood before me, his brown eyes like rich coffee.

I swallowed hard, my heart thumping in my ears as he took my hands in his, weaving his fingers through mine.

“I choose you.”

I blinked, my brain suddenly going blank as he held my hand and pulled me through the crowd and up to the stage.

I followed, too stunned to even fight back; not that I wanted to. Too stunned to even pay attention to the snickers and murmuring around me and to the deadly glare being shot my way by Sofia.

He guided me up the stage before taking a seat on his throne and pulling me into his lap.

“ I have made my choice!” His voice boomed, startling me out of my reverie.

I turned to him, my mouth parted in shock at my incredible luck.

Not that I was complaining but why was this so easy? What game was he playing?

His lips parted in a smirk as if reading my thoughts as he trailed a finger down my open back and brought his lips close to my ears.

“Smile. Isn't this what you wanted?” he murmured.

I stiffened and turned to the crowd as a smile slowly tugged my lips.

He turned to the crowd once more, eyeing Sofia who looked like she was about to fly off and scratch my eyeballs out.

“Zara is my Luna. This ceremony is over,”

Mission one: Successful!

Reika**“You did this?” He asked. It didn't seem like he needed an answer for that so I stayed silent, my chest heaving as the death look Lyra had in her eyes crossed my mind again. It was exhilarating. I could feel the blood pumping in my veins. If I had stayed in the room any longer, I'd have burst into laughter.I can't laugh in their face now. I had to hold it in.Stephan walked up to me and leaned against the wall.“Is today their death day?” He asked quietly.I caught a glimpse of him through the corners of my eyes a bit shocked that he didn't reprimand my reckless action.“Not yet.”“They're going to die soon.” I looked at the clock hanging on the wall and the corners of my lips lifted in a smile.“Two more minutes.”Right in time, footsteps echoed from the corridor.“Help me. I need some epipens!” I screamed then rested against the wall.Karin rushed towards where she stood holding two small cylindrical pens in her hands.“Thank you Karin, please tell Myron to hurry up for di

Stephan**I cursed under my breath, my hands fiddling with the buttons on my shirt as I walked down the hallway to our bedroom to pick up Zara.A mild irritation coursed through me. Irritation at myself for what my head still considered a pretty bad decision. There was no guarantee that Zara—Reika could be trusted and here I was putting her in charge of a deal that could potentially cost millions to the pack if it failed.I reached the door, knocked twice then stepped back.I only needed her to find who was behind the attack. I wasn't even sure about getting her to break the spell that hovered around me now that her identity was brought to light. The Reika that I knew wasn't the person that was in that body. The hinges on the door creaked softly and the clicking of heels followed.I turned to the door and almost got my breath knocked out of me.My wolf stirred underneath my skin, sending my breath raging and heat crawling up my neck.My eyes drank in her appearance, the red gown hugg

Reika**I didn't trust Stephan. My immediate instinct once to leave the room was to whoop for joy but I couldn't push of the alarm that slowly took over my system. It was going well. Our discussion went far too well.I loved being out of jail but I expected to be thrown back any time again.I slipped out of our bedroom, walked swiftly to my bedroom and shut the door securely.Once inside, I checked the hiding spots around the room. There was a piece of paper lying around somewhere which held my internal monologue of praying the moon goddess changes her mind and gives me more days on earth.I found the paper and immediately shredded it into unrestorable bits.I took out the wad of cash that Zara hid in the floorboards, stored it underneath my shirt and headed out of the room.I wasn't going to be back here except absolutely necessary. If Zara’s coward employer had a task for her, he knew where to find her.I returned to our bedroom and a bit of the alarm that ravaged my system began t

Zara/Reika**I could feel my body sway softly in my sleep, a slight breeze tickling the soles of my feet and my face pressed against a solid surface that smelled of aftershave and pinewood.I pressed my nose into it like a newborn, my fingers curling as a bubble of warmth spread throughout my body.I cracked my eyes open, my vision still slightly blurry but I couldn't see the dark damp walls of the prison anymore. My eyes shot open immediately. My body was in mid air. I looked up to see Stephan's face, a dark shadow covering his chin and a faraway look in his eyes.My mind travelled to my wrists as I could no longer feel the cool press of the handcuffs against it.It was gone, replaced by a deep angry red mark that was bleeding.“Stephan.” I mumbled.“You're awake.” he answered and continued to walk through the corridor. We passed a group of maids who lowered their head, a coy look in their eyes and their cheeks stained pink.I tried to jump to the floor but his grip under my knees on

Stephan**I found her words absurd. Strange and downright insulting.Every thought in my head was blocked out, replaced by the confession Zara no Reika made that morning. As a kid I had heard stories about souls appearing another's body but I assumed that was just what they were—stories.I didn't want to believe it. I refused to believe something like that could happen. But the more I broke the words down, the more the facts lined up as the truth. No, I wasn't going to accept that.Reika was alive and inside the body of Zara. Zara’s soul was probably gone to the afterlife. Zara was involved in a plot to kill me and now Reika was pulled into it too.Reika was killed by Kaid and Lyra. That part, I could very much believe as I had the same suspicions. She was pregnant when she died. I could understand the vengeance that drove her.But nothing else made sense. I refuse to believe it.I settled into my swivel chair and buried my face in my palm.I could just send out the orders to have her

Zara/Reika**My legs gave out when I tried to step out of the bed and walk to the table near the window.I crumbled to the floor, my white nightgown spreading like a fan around me.I bit my lips, grabbed the headboard and pushed myself off the ground.Stephan appeared next to me and before I could speak, his hands were tucked under my knees lifting and taking me to the table where a steaming bowl of chicken pepper soup was waiting for me.I settled into the soft cushioned chair and picked the spoon.Under his watchful gaze, I began to eat. Slowly to help me myself more time to present my cas well and to prevent choking on the spicy food.Stephan looked like he had the entire day or even week to spare. The spoon touched my lips and I winced from the cuts on it because of the chapped state.A balm appeared at my side in an instant.“Finish your meal first.” Stephan said when I looked up in shock I nodded and resumed eating till the soup bowl was empty. He handed me a glass of water, ma

**Reika/Zara**The songs of the night insects, the lapping of waves and slow crackling of fire burning were the sounds that welcomed me back to reality.I forced my eyes open, a soft gasp leaving my lips at the darkness that met my eyes. Then I remembered where I was. **Zara/Reika**One moment, the vehicle was peaceful, quiet and leisurely cruising through the road. The next month, I was hovering slightly above my seat, my hand gripping Stephan's shirt so tight as the car began a free fall into the unknown below.I didn't know whether to scream, cry or stay stil
