Emma felt her face heating up, the heat spreading all over her body. She looked up and met his piercing gaze. Lucius let go of her face and let his hand fall to his side. “You’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen,” he said.Emma smiled. “Thanks but I don’t think so.”“Are you really going to leave?” he asked.Emma nodded. “Of course. You’ve all been so kind to me but the time has come for me to continue moving around. Maybe one day, I’ll find a home. Or not. Now that Tommy is gone, I’m going to the human cities. I’ll live with them, pretend I’m one of them. Maybe one day I’ll meet someone else and we’ll start a family.”“What about me?” he asked.Emma tilted her head. “What about you?”“I need you, Emma.” He blurted out after some seconds.Emma’s lips parted in shock. “What?”“I think I’m falling for you,” he said. “I was mesmerised with you from the start. You’re such a wholesome woman. So kind and nice, yet so strong. You risked your life to save my sister and your friends. Y
Emma found herself outside Michelle’s door. She knocked on it. A young woman opened it and tilted her head. “What do you want?”“Janet, who’s there?”“It’s Miss Greenfield,” the young woman said.“You can leave, Janet.” Michelle said, appearing by her side. She was wearing a blue dressing gown and her hair was neatly held up in a ponytail. Her forehead looked a bit shiny and her face fresh. “Come on in, Emma.”Emma stepped in and closed the door.“You’re one brave chick, coming up to my room like this. I could kill you right now and no one will ever find out. What do you want?”“Do you want me to be honest?”The other woman nodded.“Lucius,” Emma said.“What? Is that what you came here to tell me?”Emma shook her head. “Not really. I came to tell you that I can leave him but under one condition.”Michelle chuckled. “Darling, you have no leverage. What will you do if I don’t do what you want?”“Lucius offered to reject you for me,” Emma said. “I could tell him to go ahead with it. But,
It was the overwhelming smell of vampires and blood that woke her up. Emma quickly opened her eyes and scanned her surroundings. She was in a pristine room lying on a bed with white sheets. Her right hand was cuffed to the bed frame.“Just my luck,” she said, remembering the events of the previous night. She had gone out with someone who pretended to be human but turned out to be a blood sucking vampire. She had known it was a bad idea to meet someone so soon but her boredom had made her rush. She could smell a lot of blood and it made her nauseous. She closed her eyes and tried to think about other things in vain. Eventually, she gave up and started screaming.“Come in here, you bastard.” She yelled, calling out for the young man who had lured her to the lair. She shuddered when she thought of what had happened to Katya. Emma cursed herself for remaining in the south despite knowing how dangerous it had become.“Get me out of here,” she yelled. “Ahhh…”Suddenly, the door was thrown o
Two hours later, Emma’s face was caked with makeup and she was wearing a regal gown that she could never afford. The gown was made of silk and hugged her body in all the right places. She had almost smiled after she looked into the mirror after the makeup session. She looked so beautiful, more than she had ever seen herself look before. She looked like a movie star. Her red hair had been styled with oils that made the red color more vibrant. The usually bone straight hair had been styled into waves and looked so different.Emma would have loved the look if she wasn’t being prepared for sacrifice. After the makeup was finished, she had been taken to another room which had two brown couches. Another young girl was there, but she was a vampire. Emma had thought the young woman would be cold to her, but surprisingly Tara was very nice to her.“Have you been with him before?” Emma asked Tara after the introductions.Tara nodded. “Yes, but I’m not here for the same purpose as you wolves.”“
Emma looked up in fear at the tall and imposing vampire king whose eyes had gone dark with anger. Tara picked up the gown he had discarded and handed it to him. He grabbed it, put it on and turned back the defiant woman before him. Emma’s body had started to shake slightly as she faced the intimidating man. His scowled and looked like he was struggling to contain his fury. His jaw clenched and he grabbed her hair, holding it at the back of her head. He pushed her away with a lot of strength and she staggered back, hitting the wall before falling to the floor. “Guard,” he called out and a guard came in immediately. “Take this woman away and teach her some lessons. Bring her back when she’s ready.”The man nodded and grabbed Emma’s hand. He pulled her up and dragged her out of the king’s bedroom. Emma glanced at Tara who had a “do you want to get killed” look on her face. Emma smiled as they exited the vampire king’s unit. At least something good had come out of her outburst. She had
The woman looked around the room and shook her head. Her eyes fell on Emma who was staring at her.“Who are you?” she asked rudely.Although Emma didn’t like her tone of voice, she stepped forward. She figured the woman was angry because of the situation she was in. Anyone getting locked in that dank place would definitely feel a range of negative emotions and react accordingly.“My name is Emma.”“So Emma, why are you staring at me?” the woman asked. “Haven’t you ever seen a human being before or what?”Emma thought she heard a low chuckle from one of the emaciated woman. Clearly, they were giving the bored women some kind of entertainment.“I’m just glad you’re here,” Emma said. “No one wanted to talk to me before you came in.”“You’re glad I got thrown into a freaking dungeon.”“I don’t mean it like that,” Emma insisted. “You know what I mean. I’m sorry you’re here. I hate it too, but I think it will be a better experience if we can talk.” Emma finished before glancing at the woman
By morning, Emma was extremely hungry. She and Casey had not talked again after she went off to think. She ended up falling asleep. She saw that all the other women were still lying down. She could tell that some of them were awake while others were asleep. Casey was standing in the corner, making different signs with her hands and chanting some words. Emma soon realised that the young woman was trying to summon her powers but whatever she was doing was not working, evidenced by the look of frustration on her face.“I’ve tried everything,” Casey said. “Nothing is working.”“It hasn’t been twenty four hours yet.”“I know, but I thought there would be a loophole or something,” the woman said. “I was hoping for even a small sign that I could be able to use my powers any time soon. This is hopeless. I don’t want to stay here till I get…” Casey stopped and glanced at the other women. “I just can’t take this anymore. I hate this place.”Emma didn’t know what to say since she hated the place
“What are you going to do?” Emma asked her new friend.“I’m going to perform that can get us all out of here.”“But you don’t have your powers.”“True, but I can siphon from other elements. It may not be as strong as my natural power and may not give the best results but I’m quite sure it can get me out of here.”“Are you saying that you can siphon power from a pregnant woman?”Casey shook her head and looked around as if trying to find something. “Not just any pregnant woman. Come here.” Emma frowned but went closer anyway. Casey started whispering. “If I have the blood of a witch, a vampire and a wolf, I can use it to create an invisibility spell.”“How will that help us get out?”“I don’t have time to explain,” Casey said. She looked around again and went towards one of the corners. There was a heap of trash there. Casey picked up a soft metallic tin and started tearing it apart. When she had three parts, she gave one to the pregnant woman and another to Emma. “I need your blood,”
