Taming His Cold Heart

Prince Damon lay in his bed, the darkness of the room enveloping him. He heard footsteps approaching and a soft rustling as Diana, his new companion, settled into her own bed on the other side of the room.

"Goodnight, Prince Damon," Diana said softly.

"Goodnight, Diana," Damon replied, his voice cool and distant.

There was a moment of silence before Diana spoke again. "I know this is an unusual arrangement, but I hope we can both make the best of it."

Damon sighed. "Yes, it is certainly unusual. But I suppose we must make the best of it, as you say."

Diana shifted in her bed. "Is there anything I can do to make you more comfortable, Your Highness?"

Damon frowned. "I am blind, Diana. I do not require comfort."

Diana's voice was gentle. "I understand that, but I still want to make sure you are not feeling uneasy in any way."

Damon was silent for a moment before he spoke again. "Very well, if it will make you feel better, you may light a candle."
