Her name was Megara Daybrace from the Scarlet Blossom Clan.
As the saying goes around in this sect, 'She was ethereal but it was all in vain.'
Beauty cannot fight fate.
Some beautiful ones are fated with unsightly ones.
Some are beautiful but unsightly within, some are unsightly but beautiful within, all fated.
Thus for Megara beauty was nothing...it was all about fate.
Which unfortunately was infrequently on her side.
"Pardon us, Master," Helice said and all four of them stood in line beside each other. Facing their master with a straight stance and warm characteristics. "Where were you this morning?" Megara asked Helice as she slowly walked up to them. Her hands were behind her back as she stood straight with a stern look on her face.
She looked at Helice before looking at others indifferently.
"I...overslept." Helice said and slightly gulped, barely keeping eye contact with Megara. This woman's eyes were like sharp weapons when she was dissatisfied. Helice lowered her eyes as she can no longer keep straight eye contact with her master.
Megara said nothing and looked at all four of them.
"It's been a while since we went on an A-rank mission," Megara said and both the boys standing in front of her bloomed as if they already won a battle or were getting married.
"A rank mission," Ida said, her eyes almost coming out of her sockets. She was the greatest doormat in them but never truly showed it to Megara otherwise she would be booted out but only if she knew her master was well knowledgeable of all four of her disciples.
"Our lives will be at great risk here," Megara said and all of them went stiff. It was the first time Megara said something like 'Losing her life' in an A-rank mission.
"What is the mission, Master?" Helice asked hurriedly as she was always very impatient. She was working on controlling her impatient nerves. Megara took a quick breath before finally throwing an entire pebble on all four of them.
"We are going to the dark mansion. We will be looting the stones that Evandros Linya has compiled somewhere in his dark mansion." By the end of Megara's explanation, all four of them were already pale. Only syloson was a little steady.
"Evandros already possessed five stones now....if not five we can at least take one but we must not let him know from which sect we belong. The day after tomorrow we will vacate for the mission. Tomorrow you guys will meet me here around this time and we will examine our plan." Megara said with a stern expression on her face. Her gaze examined each of her disciple's faces.
"W...Why us?" Ida asked.
Megara was quiet, she knew exactly 'Why us?' but she was a master who was not here to demotivate her disciples. Only because of them, she was a master otherwise.....she mentally shook her head and looked at Ida indifferently.
"Show them...why exactly us," Megara said with a faint smile on her face and all four of them lit up like young flowers. It wasn't like she honored them but the anxiety they had just a second ago faded away with Megara's terms.
"Yes." They said in unison, full of spirit.
"Then I will see you guys tomorrow. Sharpen yourself." Megara said and turned around to leave but she trailed off in her trail and slightly turned her head to look at Helice. "Once we are done with the mission, you have to write a hundred manuscripts of your missed homework," Megara said and walked away. Once she was walking on the bridge far away from them, surrounded by trees, all three of them turned towards Helice and mocked her.
Helice thought she would get away with her punishment but her master was Megara Daybrace.
Megara Daybrace.
The wind rustled, fluttering her white robe as she slowly walked on the bridge filled with autumn leaves. Her shadow walked beside her on the texture of the dampness. Her gaze watched the trees above her. She did not spare any glimpses of the disciples walking past her.
Her mind was roaming around 'Why us?'
She felt sudden warmth and bitterness clenching her chest within.
'Why us?'
Because their Master Megara did not have any soulmate. This was a world where people were destined to meet and bear each other symbols on their chest and arms as soulmates after the age of eighteen, some met their soulmates a little late around twenty but Megara was twenty-four and still had no soulmate which only notifies one thing...she was born without a match.
There is only ten percent of people in this world who are born without a soulmate and Megara was one of them. These people are kept low and looked down on by other people. No matter how strong you are...if people can't judge you...your companions will. She was the only master with very few disciples....no one wanted to be under her, to be teached by her but those four children did.
They think...they are faulty...they might not know but Megara knows why those four prefer her. Guessing she was faulty just like them and they won't be looked down on by their companion or master.
However, when they got to know her, they knew they preferred the right master.
The reason they were ordered to go on this mission was that no one cared about them..the headmaster of the sect did but the other masters didn't and selected her to go on this mission.
They knew this mission was risky and they might die but they could care less for Megara and her disciples because they were faulty anyway. Their death will not impact the sect.
But there is this one master who cares about her.
He was also born without a soulmate but was treated well because of his strong magic and spiritual core. He was stronger than Megara or maybe because he was a man.
His name was Evenor from the red tiger clan. He possessed the same red hair as Syloson and was handsome from head to toe. Not to mention his eyes..they speak love to her.
She might not have a soulmate but there is this man who looks at her with love.
At least she had him.
They had pure feelings for each other and both of them knew without even saying it. He was more in devotion while she had her limitations up for some reason...only she knew why.
She was at peace with him but little did she know her peace will be devastated a lot sooner.
Everyone flinched upon his unexpected entrance. The man that barged into the room had a presence so demonic, they wondered how strong he was to manage that immense power of his. Evan's eyes went on the five disciples and slightly widened. His gaze traveled to Megara and Neel who seemed fine before moving back onto the disciples. His gaze narrowed on them, making all of them flinch.Megara sensed him and slowly turned towards the door."You..." A rough whisper, no, it was almost a growl that left his lips when he slowly took a step towards them. "They...don't have any ill intention." Megara immediately blurted out calmly before he could lash out at them. Seriously, what were they even thinking before coming here? To be determined was good but Evandros could snap their neck in an instant if he wanted to.Or maybe they were bound to give him a hard time if their powers were combined."If they don't have any ill intention then what brings them to my mansion?" He asked, walking up to them
"Let.go.of.him." Megara almost growled. They weren't aware of him being mute that was why they had their hand on his mouth. The metals around her shook, if she was in her full power the metals might have pierced all of them by now. Neel's little muffling sound continued and the room had a strange eerie silence to it until she felt a familiar aura.A very familiar sense of presence around her. Her ears perked up even more and she contemplated whether to take that name or not but before her lips could part and that name could spill out of her lips, she heard it."Master." A female voice invaded her ears. Her eyes widened upon hearing that and while she was just processing little footsteps approached her and hugged her legs. She immediately ran her hand through his hair and took a breath of relief. "Are you okay?" Megara asked in a daze.Once she felt Neel bobbing his head only then did she begin to process whatever was happening around her. These people...could they be?Before she knew
*a week later*After Lenora was introduced to the clan as the first lady, she was still bound inside his personal chamber. This caused chaos in the personal chambers. Everyone questioned why she was introduced to the clan instead of Megara who they thought was the real mother of Neel.Evandros kept the leash tight enough to lower the chaos. Lenora didn't object and went along with whatever Evan had to order. His black magic prevented anyone unwanted from entering his personal chambers. He doubted Ezekiel and couldn't help but take extra precautions.Megara sat on the edge of the fountain, the sound of water and Neel's little footsteps combined together created a peaceful environment for her. A little hum left her lips. This little human with life was the only one who kept her moving with this blindness. She didn't know what she would do without him."You seem to be enjoying yourself." Megara said with a soft smile on her face, Neel's quick steps on the ground was telling her how happy
A delicious food tray was placed in front of them on the table as they sat on the cushions. The working maidens from his personal chamber eyed the couple sitting on the cushions. The woman with silver stripes stared at the table almost blankly while Evandros on the other hand kept glancing at her.Once the delicious food was settled on the table, the maidens bowed and left the room, gently closing the door behind them since Neel was sleeping on the bed."Shall I wake him up for lunch?" Megara asked and he finally snapped out of his trance of staring at her. He looked at Neel sleeping on the bed. First, the little one looked so comfortable to disturb and second because Evan wanted some alone time with her."No, he looks deep in sleep and quite comfortable. He'll eat once he wakes up." Evan said and before Megara could say something he immediately grabbed a plate and began telling her the dishes names that were served and not so surprisingly all of them were her favorite. She took a lit
"So where is the mother?" Ezekiel asked out of nowhere but Evandros came prepared. "I heard you threw your favorite concubine out. Does that mean he is not from her?" Ezekiel asked further."He is not from her but one of my favorite ones," Evan answered, not disclosing the matter of kicking her out. "So are you gonna marry her?" One of the high-ups asked and the hall fell into an eerie silence. No, he wouldn't marry her. He won't marry unless the bride is his soulmate."No, I won't," Evandros answered with authority."But isn't she the first lady already after birthing your son? Even if you don't want to marry her, she naturally takes that position." Another higher-up stated some facts that couldn't be denied. "That's true but I refuse to marry." He said and somehow everyone deep down knew why he refused to marry.According to them he still hadn't moved on from his dead mate, he never would."That's not very convincing. In our culture, we usually marry our soulmates and if we don't ha
"I was so shocked after hearing the news." Man one said, surprise still plastered on his face as he spoke. "Yeah, me too. It came out of nowhere." Man two added."But whatever it is, I'm glad that our clan finally has a new heir now." Man one said, looking towards the grand terrace of the dark mansion. After so many decades, Commoners were once again allowed to enter the territory of the mansion. They all stood on the huge ground in front of the mansion. Many were standing outside the mansion's territory as there was no space inside for them to stand. Everyone was staring up at the terrace in anticipation. The guards guarding the terrace from all the corners when a tall silhouette enters under the sun's glory. It was Ezekiel Linya back in his real form showing up in front of his people after decades.Everyone bowed, not heartedly but they had no choice but to bow. Under his command, the clan sure did grow but it also came to become one of the most dangerous clans existing on the la
