Sebastian stood at the threshold, only partially visible, his sharp gaze sweeping over them.

“Desiree,” he said curtly, “retrieve my drink from the fridge. Ensure it is cold.”

“Your drink—ah, you mean the bana—”

She stopped mid-sentence.

Sebastian’s glare could have frozen fire.

“Understood, Sir,” she corrected immediately.

“And conceal it properly,” he added. His eyes flicked briefly toward Rosie. “No one is to see it. No one is to know. That is an order.”

“…Yes, Sir.”

Desiree rose, resisting—b

"Mummy..."Amidst her rising panic, Izzie's quiet voice suddenly cut through Rosie's thoughts and snapped her back to reality."Yes, darling?"Izzie continued staring towards the car park, a bright smile spreading across her little face."Don’t be scared, Mummy.""H-Huh?"Rosie’s breath caught.Izzie slowly looked up at her mother. She might have been young, but she knew her Mummy better than Rosie sometimes realised."Mummy, I know you’re scared," Izzie said matter-of-factly.Rosie's heart skipped. She nearly flinched at how accurately her daughter had read her."W-What do you mean? Mummy isn’t scared, darling."Izzie shook her head. "Mummy always bites your bottom lip and stares into space when you’re scared or worried."Rosie froze."Mummy also gets sweaty and looks paler than usual!"Rosie immediately became conscious of herself. She straightened her posture and forced herself to relax, determined not to let her fear show."W-Well, Mummy isn’t scared anymore. Come on, let’s go to

Rosie and Izzie came upstairs after the little girl had finished getting ready for school. They found Sebastian standing by the mirror, adjusting his tie before reaching for his suitcase."It's still awfully early for you, Sebastian," Rosie said, glancing at the clock."I've got an early meeting," Sebastian replied. His attention remained fixed on his phone as he sent a quick message to Desiree, reminding her to get ready."Right, then. Good luck today, as always."Rosie took Izzie's hand and led her towards the penthouse entrance."I'm going to drive Izzie to school.""Mmm. Be careful."Izzie, however, remained fixated on her uncle.Sebastian was still absorbed in his phone, and the sight reminded her painfully of her father.Daddy was always busy with his phone.Daddy was always working. And Daddy never seemed to have enough time to play with her.Curious, Izzie wondered whether Uncle Sebastian would turn out to be the same."Uncle!"She slipped her hand out of Rosie's and hurried b

  • Taming the Devil: After Divorce, Tangled Up in You   Chapter 214 : Mummy and Uncle aren’t fighting, are you?

Sebastian was thoroughly flustered when Rosie looked at him with those pleading eyes and that soft, sweet voice. She seemed almost like a goddess who had somehow landed in his lap, asking him to spoil her because she didn't know what else to do.And he knew damn well he would. His body betrayed him almost immediately, which only made him more flustered. He was wearing nothing but a pair of thigh-length boxer briefs, and there was no hiding his reaction.Quickly, he slipped an arm around Rosie's waist and shifted her thigh closer to his, using the position to conceal his embarrassment from Izzie.Rosie gave a startled little gasp and went rigid when she realised what was happening. She stared at Sebastian, her eyes filled with confusion and a dozen unanswered questions.Sebastian lowered his gaze briefly before tilting his head towards Izzie. The message was obvious.Stay exactly where you are.Rosie’s eyes widened. She glanced towards Izzie, who was watching them with narrowed eyes, a

Charles began arranging his next move.First, he needed to continue treating Jessie well. She would be useful to him later, and he wanted her devotion to run so deep that she would throw herself off a cliff without hesitation if he told her to.Second, he needed to preserve Jessie's ruined appearance at all costs. Her desperation would be useful to him in the long run.Third, he wanted to see what the attacker would do next.He didn’t believe the assault on Jessie was the end of it. Whoever was behind the attack would surely have another target in mind. Perhaps Jessie's forgettable husband.Or even old Anne.Charles’s lips curled into a broad, sinister smile."Let's see what you do next. Hopefully, it’ll be more entertaining than this."A low, malicious chuckle escaped him."If this really was Rosie’s new man, then he’s made a serious mistake."Charles knew Rosie better than almost anyone. She was a woman who valued her family above everything else. She would go to extraordinary lengt

Jessie was alone again, but she wasn't frightened or sad.Because..."Who needs a useless husband and mother when I have a perfect man by my side?"The thought settled in Jessie’s heart like a sermon, filling her with a new sense of certainty—a revelation that promised her a better life. She quickly opened her banking app, eager to see exactly how much Charles had sent her.The moment the balance appeared on the screen, her eyes widened."Holy crap... thirty thousand dollars?"Thirty thousand.Jessie stared at the figure in disbelief. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d had that much money sitting in her account.Usually, every penny she earned disappeared almost immediately into household bills, groceries, school expenses and the endless costs of looking after her family.Yet Charles had simply transferred thirty thousand dollars to her without a second thought. It felt like a dream."Charles must have a soft spot for me," Jessie murmured, her smile slowly widening. "Why else w

  • Taming the Devil: After Divorce, Tangled Up in You   Chapter 211 : A beautiful heart is all I want.

Jessie ate her lunch before checking her phone, hoping to find at least one missed call or message. There was nothing. Not from her mother. Not from her husband. Nothing at all.It was almost as though she could disappear from their lives and neither of them would notice."So much for family, eh?" Jessie gave a humourless little laugh. It was almost laughable. She worked herself to the bone trying to keep those two useless people afloat, and they couldn't even be bothered to check whether she was still breathing."Why do I have to be trapped in this miserable life while Rosie gets to have all the fun?" Jessie muttered bitterly. "She doesn't even have to work, and she's got a perfect man like Charles."She scoffed."And now she's run away from Charles, but she's probably hiding with another millionaire somewhere. How bloody lucky can one woman get?"Jessie had already resented Rosie for marrying a man she considered perfect while she had ended up with a useless bastard. But what made h

Rosie reacted at once, catching hold of her daughter’s arm and gently but firmly pulling her aside.“I’m so sorry, Sebastian,” she said quickly. “P–Please don’t be upset with Izzie.
