Chapter 10: Mine

Chapter 10: Mine

Regina’s P.O.V

I woke up with a start, this time taking it slow before opening my eyes.

I was lying on something soft…a bed probably, with the covers pulled up to my chest and my hair no longer wet from the water that had been poured on top of me the last time I was awake.

I tried to go by sensation and feel if there was anything on my body that could indicate that I was tied up by any means, but I didn’t come up with anything.

“Stop pretending. I know you’re awake.”

Even though my heart thrashed against my ribcage as fear took hold for a few seconds, I opened my eyes slowly, trying my best not to give away too much from my expression.

The jacket was gone and Leonardo now stood at the foot of the bed in his red shirt and black pants, the sleeves folded to his elbows as he folded his arms across his chest to look down on me.

“Didn’t anyone teach you that invading people’s privacy is disrespectful?”

Draco raised his eyebrows as he moved closer, causing me to spring up from the bed, making my head spin. But before I could fall back, he caught me with his hands on my nape, supporting me upright easily as he leaned forward till our faces were inches apart, our breaths mingled and our noses almost touching.

“Privacy?” Draco smirked. “Says the woman who stole my family heirloom without caring that the kid stealing it might not make it out.”

I pursed my lips together not wanting to answer his question at first, but then I tilted my head to the side, freighting innocence. “What heirloom? Who stole what? You’re just talking nonsense now.”

Draco threw back his head laughing…and for a second, I found my breath catching in my throat. Was the man really this gorgeous when he smiled?

Sorellasorella…” Draco shook his head before releasing me suddenly, causing me to fall back onto the bed. “How careless of you. You rule the brothel that Theodor was in charge of. The boy confessed everything to me before I put a bullet through his head…and you still think you can pretend in front of me? What for? Didn’t you so daringly challenge me on the charity event that we’ll meet again?”

I had almost forgotten that Theodor had been caught before he was killed. The foolish man had been smitten with me from the very first day and once he had inherited the brothel after his father’s ‘untimely demise’ at a police encounter…I only had to curl my fingers and he was at the palm of my hands.

But the fool had been reckless. He was stupid enough to think he could get more money out of Draco by gambling with him but he hadn't even thought to check if it had been a trap. Draco could play with his eyes closed and still win without a problem. And it had been right after I had told him to steal the ring when Draco had been in the pool.

Instead of taking Theodor out to gamble, Draco had easily caught the fly into his trap and killed him, but I had no idea about how much the bastard had exposed before he was dead.

Don’t get me wrong, I had no mercy for Theo. He was a motherfucker who liked to prey on underaged girls, so I had purposefully chosen him because I knew that once Draco found out who had stolen his ring, he’d never let that person live. And then the girls at the house would be safe when I was away…because at the moment, my chances of getting out alive seemed to be getting thinner by the second.

“So?” I asked him now, raising my eyebrows in amusement even though my heartbeat was erratic. “What do you plan to do now? Kill me like you killed Theodor? Oh, right…I forgot, you’re a fucking sadist. You’d like to fuck me first before you kill me.”

Draco’s smile almost made my heart skip a beat as he leaned down to once again place his face closer to mine, his hands on either side of my head.

“That’s right…I am a sadist. There will be no escape for you, Regina. You belong to me now; heart, body and soul. Mine to do with as I please.” Draco’s eyes were ablaze with desire as he looked into my eyes, his shocking blue eyes holding me mesmerized for a second.

I smirked in the face of death. “Good luck with that.”

“Another empty challenge?” Draco laughed. “Do you really think you can get away from me that easily? You should know that I never lose and I always get what I want.”

“All I see is a big baby who keeps on talking and talking without any action to back it up.” I raised my arm to wrap my fingers around his nape and pushed his down even closer, until our noses touched, his hot breath fanning my cheeks with each heavy breath he took. “I’d suggest putting that mouth of yours to good use.”

“As you wish…” Draco leaned down further, until I had to bury my head further into the pillows to avoid him breathing onto me. “But don’t say I didn’t warn you. Because once you’re mine…there’s no going back.”

“Yours?” I swallowed involuntarily; my breathing a bit shallow. “I thought you couldn’t wait to kill me.”

“That’ll all depend on how pleased I am with you tonight, farfalla.” Draco’s voice felt like a deliciously rough caress over my skin. “And I have a hunch I’m going to enjoy it…very much so.”

At that moment, when I saw his blue eyes darken with desire…I wanted to ask myself if what I was doing was really all about revenge, or was I simply obsessed with Leonardo Draconis D’Angelo.

Because I suddenly felt my stomach clench into knots as I raised my face to try to claim Draco’s lips with mine, completely forgetting the reason why I was here…and why I was supposed to hate this man in the first place.
