K A I D A

The adrenaline from the fight has long burned off, leaving nothing but exhaustion and a hollow, buzzing tension under my skin. My muscles ache in that slow, deep way that comes after you've burned through every ounce of energy and are still somehow standing. The courtyard is quieter now, though the energy of the aftermath still hangs thick in the air, like smoke that refuses to clear.

Somehow, Korra and I find a quiet spot near the edge of the Tyro pack's courtyard, tucked behind a low stone wall half-covered in ivy. It's away from the commotion. The rest of the pack is still moving—patching wounds, securing the prisoners, rebuilding the busted gates that were torn apart when the enemy stormed through. There’s a distant clatter of tools, low murmurs of conversation, the occasional sharp bark of an order.

But over here—it's just us now. For the first time since the chaos.

Korra leans back against the wall, arms folded across her chest. Her black clothes are still dusty from t

  • Taming the Rogue Luna   Chapter 131

K A I D AThe stars blur.Everything is still around me, frozen in the moment like the world is holding its breath. And the voice—her voice—it’s back.Kaida…It’s soft but firm, the way waves lap a shoreline—relentless and ancient.“You again,” I whisper. “What are you?”There’s no answer.Only the wind brushing past me, and the sharp chill crawling down my spine.Then—Concentrate.It comes again, closer now. Right in my skull, threading through my thoughts like a whisper laced with lightning. My breath stutters.Concentrate, she says again. Don’t fear it. Don’t run from it. You’re stronger when you let go.“Let go of what?”My voice shakes. I hate that it does. There’s silence. And then—A pull in my chest. Something ancient, something deep. Like someone reaching through time and memory and blood just to get to me.There are others…“Others?” I echo.Others like you. Hidden. Broken. Waiting to be found. You must prepare them. There is a war coming.I press my palm to the railing to

K A I D ABy the time we return to Raven Moon, the sun is high, the clouds thick with the promise of rain. The trucks crunch against gravel as we pull into the courtyard, and everything feels heavier now.The silence. The air.Me.The others start unloading supplies and clearing out the back vehicles. Korra is already speaking with Valerie off to the side. I can tell by her posture—stiff but composed—that she’s processing everything that’s happened.I am too.Or trying to.My boots hit the ground hard as I jump down from the truck. Octavius is already waiting near the steps of the packhouse, his arms folded, jaw tight. When he catches my eye, he doesn’t say anything right away.We don’t need words. Not yet.Everyone’s tense. The fight, the ambush, Rowan’s confession. None of it’s left us untouched.I take a breath, adjust the knife at my belt, and head inside. We gather in the main hall—me, Korra, Octavius, Jace, Valerie, Anita, Reno, and Lucas. Everyone who’s been here from the start

  • Taming the Rogue Luna   Chapter 128

K A I D AThe packhouse smells like blood, sweat and fear. Not the kind that clings after a simple fight—but something heavier. Darker. We are scattered across the battlefield, recuperating and helping clean up the aftermath of such a vicious battle. Many are injured, but thankfully her helaing abilities have already kicked in, those that needed extra medical attention being hauled of to the infirmary for aid. Thankfully, there were no fatalities on our end. The Tyro Pack has always been strong, powerful, the only other pack I can think of that rivals the Raven Moon Pack, aside from the Xarano Pack of course. The others arrive within the hour, Anita, Sera, Valerie, Reno, Jace—all of them fresh from the Xarano, their faces tight with urgency. They're Lycans, pure and strong, but even they look unsettled when they take in the battered state of Tyro's front yard. Their worry was for Korra and I, and even though I am now the Luna of the Xarano Pack, they still look at me as a leader of th

K A I D A The conference room inside the Tyro Packhouse is quieter than I expected. Just the five of us—me, Korra, Octavius, Lennox, and Lennox's Beta—a thick tension hanging in the air like a coiled spring. Octavius leans forward, his forearms braced on the heavy oak table. His voice is low, careful as he focus on Lennox. "This is bigger than just us. It's bigger than Raven Moon. It's bigger than Xarano." Lennox's sharp green eyes narrow slightly, his instincts kicking in. "Go on." Octavius doesn't flinch. He never does. "My uncle—Lucien Reed—is behind all of this. The destruction of the Xarano pack. The experiments. The rogue Lycans. It's all connected to the Vilamir family. They're trying to bring back the Admosian Empire." Korra tenses beside me. I keep my arms loose at my sides, my mind sharp, listening. Octavius continues, "He's targeting Lycans specifically. Trying to twist them, weaponise them. And it's not just a few dozen anymore. It's hundreds. Maybe more." Lennox s

K A I D AWe don't waste time after leaving Velmora. No celebrations. No wasted breath. Just back on the road, another long drive deeper into the northern territories where the Gravemont Pack holds dominion. The Gravemonts were always different. Proud. Private. Their loyalty was never given lightly, but when it was earned, it was unbreakable. Or so my father used to say.I can only hope some of that loyalty still exists. The land shifts as we drive—dense forests giving way to rocky hills, towering cliffs, and narrow roads that force you to slow down and pay attention. It feels like Gravemont itself is testing you before you even get there.By the time we pull up to the main gates, the sun's starting to dip low behind the trees. Shadows stretch long across the ground. Two sentries step forward immediately—tall, broad-shouldered men in dark leathers, their hands resting near the hilts of the short blades strapped to their hips. One of them squints at us."You're not expected," he says b

K A I D AThe next morning comes fast.Too fast.I barely sleep. None of us really do. You can feel the tension in the halls of the packhouse—the way people move faster, sharper. Like the air itself knows something big is coming.By the time the sun edges over the horizon, we're already geared up.Octavius stands near the front steps, arms folded across his chest, quiet but focused. Korra's beside him, her long black coat catching the early morning breeze, her face carved from stone. I catch Miyuki off to the side, arms crossed, watching us with her usual serious gaze. This is it.We're not sending messengers. We're going ourselves. As a united front. One wrong move today, and we could lose everything before the first battle even starts.I shrug my jacket tighter over my shoulders and walk toward them. Octavius's gaze meets mine, steady. Grounding."You ready?" he asks."Ready as I'll ever be."He nods once. "Then let's move."We take two black SUVs—nothing flashy, nothing that scream

  • Taming the Rogue Luna   Chapter 124

K A I D AWe move through the doors of the packhouse together, Korra just behind me.It’s strange seeing her here—this place that became home, with all its quiet corners and memories built out of survival and slow healing. Seeing her tall frame and quiet intensity next to Miyuki and Octavius and the others—it does something to me. Grounds me, somehow. But it still feels a little surreal. She walks slowly as we make our way through the main hall. Her eyes sweep over the space—every window, every detail, every exit. It’s instinct. I know it well. After what she’s been through, you don’t walk into any room without knowing exactly how to walk out.But then, her gaze softens. Just a little.“This is a very nice packhouse,” she says casually, her voice low but firm. “Warm. Solid. Smart design. Whoever built it knew what they were doing.”I raise a brow. “Is that your way of saying you approve?”She glances sideways at me, the corner of her mouth twitching like she might smile. “I’m saying I’

  • Taming the Rogue Luna   Chapter 123

K A I D AThe morning light creeps in slow through the windows, turning the wood floors gold and the room into something soft and quiet. Outside, the world is waking up. I'm sitting at the edge of the bed, in nothing but Octavius' shirt, hair pulled back. My body's sore, but my mind won't quit. The conversation from last night still plays on a loop. Korra's voice. Her words. Her warning. Behind me, I hear Octavius move. The shift of sheets, the faint creak of the mattress. A moment later, his warmth is behind me, his arm wrapping lazily around my waist."You didn't sleep much," he mumbles into my shoulder."Yeah... couldn't stop thinking about everything..." I answer quietly. Though he and I had quite the... busy night..., my mind has been racing too much for me to rest well."I understand," he admits, kissing the back of my neck."I didn't get a chance to talk to you about what Korra told me yesterday..." I rest my hand on his forearm, grounding myself in his presence, even if my min
