ELORA'S pov

The beep sound that invaded my ears was steady. It was getting high, then dropped, then high again. I opened my eyes with some difficulty.

The ceiling was white. And the beeping had gone down again. I swallowed; I guess I was thirsty.

"Are you trying to get yourself exposed, Elora?" Valen's voice cut through the air.

Ughh. I closed my eyes back. Why was he in the room with me? Whatever room I was in. But why him? It was giving me a headache. The beeping increased.

"Hey, she literal

ELORA'S pov His mouth smashed into mine. My eyes widened in shock and I gasped, regretting the action immediately as he took it to his advantage.Valen’s tongue slipped deeper into my mouth, lashing over mine again and again, until all I could taste was him and him alone.I wiggled, trying to thrash my legs, to pull my head to the side and away from him, but his mouth on mine just went deeper, intoxicating me in manners no one else ever had. This was the first time I had ever kissed anyone, and he stole that from me.Anger burned hot in my veins. With all my might, I wrenched my hand free from his hold, forcing him to break the kiss for a split second, even though my body was still trapped beneath his thighs. Before I could stop it, my hand went across his face in a harsh slap."Wh... what the f*ck is wrong with you? Why would you do that?" My voice cracked as tears burned in my vision. His eyes darkened, and I knew right then that I had made a grave mistake.Crimson red bled into hi

  • Taming the Ruthless Alpha    Chapter 20

ELORA'S pov Being in the same room with Valen Thorne caused my pulse to speed up, giving me chills, and even just his gaze made my heart hammer against my ribcage. And it wasn't totally from fear.Sitting on the bed with Herald standing over me gave me the exact same feeling—the chills and all. But this time, it was entirely born out of terror."Lucius Bernard?" he asked, although we both already knew the answer to that question."Yes... sir," I added, my voice tight and unsure. His eyes swept over my body, and I suddenly realized that I wasn't doing anything to mask the fact that I was a girl. My bandages were off, and I wasn't wearing the heavy combat gear that usually flattened my chest.I was in a thin cotton hospital gown, thankfully hidden beneath the weight of the heavy clinic blankets. I kept my gaze locked onto the floor, right in front of his snakeskin shoes."You returned the item from the last trial," he continued. It was eerie, the more he spoke, the less human he sounde

  • Taming the Ruthless Alpha    Chapter 19

ELORA'S pov I wasn't the only one who noticed Valen's change of mood. Behind him, Jaxon and Tristan were glancing at each other almost anxiously."Lucius," he spat.He hadn't left my bedside yet. And it didn't look like he was going to ask me again what happened. No, he looked the same way he did in the cursed woods after killing the banshee and he saw Toby resting his head on my lap.And yet again, Toby had walked through the door, still bleeding, to check up on me. It wasn't too hard to pinpoint his source of irritation."Lucius..." he repeated with a dirty grin on his face.Oh, he was playing with my alpha name. Almost like—no, he was. He was telling me he could expose that I'm not actually Lucius... but an Elora. And it probably won't just be to Toby; it would be to everyone. His eyes met with mine and he knew I understood him.I shook my head slowly, begging him not to. He smiled softly. He loved this—me begging him. The bastard loved having the upper hand."C... can I please sp

The beeping increased."Hey, she literally just opened her eyes for a second and you're already yelling at her?" I heard Tristan's voice say. Were all of them here with me? And why was I feeling so tired? I opened my eyes again and saw Tristan's smiling face above my head.I shifted my head a bit deeper into the pillow in surprise. I thought he was at a distance from me."Hello, sleeping beauty," he said, still smiling."Now you're creeping her out," Jaxon said, pushing Tristan's head away from my face.I sat up and noticed there was

ELORA'S pov I woke up as the bus pulled into the school compound. I rubbed my eyes and got off the bus with the other students. The sun was just rising and it hurt my eyes a little. Most of the guys coming down were injured, so they went to treat their wounds. I dragged my feet to my dorm room. I really just wanted to continue my sleep. The room was empty, I didn't bother looking for the guys when I got off the bus. I was too tired. I slammed the door and removed the bandages around my chest. They had started to hurt earlier with my numerous movements. After pulling off my bandages and sitting on the bed, I took out my potion from the drawer and noticed that it was practically empty. There was just a little bit left that wouldn't last. If not for the fact that Valen and the guys already found out about my identity, I would have been screwed by now.Yawning, I pulled on a T-shirt and laid down to sleep. I probably slept for a couple of hours before waking up, and decided to have a bat

ELORA'S pov "I'm glad you're okay."I turned to look at him, still unnerved. He was glad I was okay? He looked ready to kill me back when I was with Toby. But now he's...Actually, I think this will be the most I'll be getting from Valen Thorne. Might as well take it."Thanks," I muttered back. The moon started to go to the other side of Earth, it would definitely be leaving soon.If the trial ended without us finding the object, would we be asked to do this again?I looked at the river. Next time we come here, they might consider crossing to check more lands. No, I could barely control things this time... I couldn't afford a next time."Guys, I've seen something!" Tristan shouted. My heart skipped a beat. I had to place my hand on my chest to reassure myself. He said he'd found something, not someone. And the something would probably have something to do with what we were looking for. Then why was I feeling so scared? I was being paranoid.Jaxon and I walked to go see it. He stood a
