That fateful evening, Lorenzo was as usual smoking while making plans to hit one of the clubs in town when his work phone began to ring.

“Chief?” he muttered, surprised. He let his stick of cigarette drop into the cigarette cup and took a slow sip of his drink.

“Chief,” he said into the phone.

“I have a minor job for you. Meet me in my office now.” chief had told him and hung up.

Lorenzo’s head slanted as he further stared at his phone in confusion. Chief never relayed work issues directly to him. And with the way he sounded, it was clear Alessandro wasn’t included in whatever job chief had for him. In fact, chief never gave him assignments without Alessandro’s presence or awareness.
