Chapter 17

Lovette POV

I woke up with a pounding headache, my headset still clinging to my head. I groggily reached up to pull it off, wincing at the bright light that flooded my bedroom. I have been sleeping a lot these days.

“You’re awake. You didn’t sleep for long”, Tasha said softly. I was surprised she was still around.

“What time is it?” I asked

“It’s still noon.” She replied

“You haven’t gone yet”, I said, smiling.

She nodded. “I didn’t want to leave without telling you bye. I was waiting for you to wake up.”

“I’m glad you waited,” I said. “I’m sorry I fell asleep. I didn’t mean to keep you here.”

“It’s okay,” Tasha said. “I didn’t mind waiting. I wanted to make sure you were okay before I left.”

“I’m also sorry for shutting you out when you tried talking to me. The thing is, I wanted to process everything all on my own. You heard the boy’s conversation, and I was the topic of their argument. I didn’t like that. It made me feel very bad.”

“It’s fine, I understand,” Tasha replied.” I know
