I had forgotten that following the wall came the lion's den—Dylan's room—before Elliot's. Yes, Dylan. But, given his aura, Lion was the name that ever fit him.

He was still holding his palm over my mouth, partially covering my nose, and I was beginning to lose breath. I tried to move slightly, but it was difficult—his body towered over mine, nearly trapping me in place.

I searched for his eyes. Because he was taller than me, I had to look up, and that's when I noticed them, shocking emerald eyes. He was staring directly at me, utterly still. Frozen. It felt like time had stopped for him.

His gaze was so intense that it made my heart miss a beat—which seemed odd until I realized what I had done earlier: I had touched myself to the thought of him. Then it felt completely normal. This made sense. Something was brewing within me.

I was practically out of breath, but he didn't appear to notice. He didn't seem conscious. He was lost in me, and I was becoming lost in him. Those eyes resemble

Gia's assistant and Layla both looked at me, waiting for a response. Now, I couldn't say no. I mean, I had never attended an LGBTQ pool party before, but I had previously served at events. And if I ever wanted to be done with Layla, no matter how impossible it seemed, I had to try. I had to do it."Yes, I can do it," I replied, clearing my voice."Great. Leave your belongings; we are leaving now."Layla did not even wait. She turned and walked away, as if I were a stray she had just decided to take along. I stood up, grabbed my phone, and pushed in my chair.Gia's assistant gave me a blank stare—she had no idea what Layla was up to either. I followed her outside without bothering to catch up. Everyone we passed stopped to acknowledge her, showing her disturbing rich-girl respect. When we arrived at her car, I was surprised to see that there were no guards—only her—and she directed me to the rear seat."When does the party end?" I asked. I needed to go home. I needed to talk to Elliot.

E L L I O TI was staring at my ties, trying to decide which one to choose. I had a critical meeting with an investor about the branch we were opening in Seattle, and I needed to look my best.Everyone was gone. Chloe had just left after promising to meet me for lunch, Jake said his fiancée needed him, and Harvey followed — his reason was to drop Phoebe off at the airport and attend his lectures.Today was a mess. Alexis, oh, speaking of Alexis, I should probably text her and ask for more time, even if I don't mean it. I didn't want her to realise that I didn't truly care.I grabbed my phone and hastily texted her, citing Chloe's pregnancy as an excuse. Fuck, this was harder than I expected.Of course, she answered fast, and I used an emotional emoji to manipulate her feelings. I had finally decided which tie I was going to wear when someone barged in — and before I could say anything, I was hit in the face."You little fuck!" It was my brother, Dylan. He grabbed my collar and shoved

Have you ever felt as if your life is moving so quickly like someone else is living it for you? That was exactly how I was feeling right now.First Elliot admits to feeling the same, and now this? Harvey, same and Dylan (with whom I kissed and then masturbated to) Layla, and now Ray? What in the hell was going on?I had no idea I was staring into Ray's eyes till now, I immediately turned away and cleared my throat.“I know men like us get judged, but trust me, I'm different," he chuckled. Yeah, right. I didn't fall for it. Every man says the same thing and ends up the same.I turned to stare out the window, attempting to distract my brain even though knowing that we were near my college. He was still talking but I wasn't listening.A few minutes later, we arrived. Ray begged me to wait so he could get to my door, but I declined."This will look like an act if you treat me overly nice," I advised. He grinned, so I rephrased, "What I mean is, we want them to believe this fake relationsh

But, as they say, let tomorrow worry about itself. I decided to live tonight—and think about tomorrow, tomorrow.Elliot was a gentleman, just as I had imagined him all these years, but it annoyed me that he asked every five seconds if I was okay. But sex is best done with someone you love, and that's all I focused on.When we were finished, he led me to the bathroom and helped me get cleaned up. He also bathed himself, and when we were finished, he assisted me into bed. He said he had some office documents to look at, which I didn't mind. I wanted to sleep, not because I was physically tired, but because I was mentally exhausted. I needed to think.I fell asleep immediately. When I opened my eyes, it was early morning. I looked to the other side and realised I was alone in bed. I mean, I went to bed alone, but I was expecting Elliot to return.I got up and went to the bathroom, had a shower, got ready and then headed out to the kitchen, where I was surprised to see everyone—including

"Alex," Elliot called my name again, but I still did not turn. I felt paralysed and detached from my body. Even when I tried to move my fingers, I couldn't feel them. All I could feel was my heart slamming against my chest.‘Lex, calm down. Calm down.’ I continued chanting to myself. I heard Elliot's footsteps approaching, and I stopped him before he got too close.I slowly turned around. He appeared pathetic, broken even. I hadn't seen him like this before. Swallowing hard, I turned back, unlocked the door, and moved aside to allow him to enter first."Harvey called me," I stated, following him inside. Elliot had gone to the couch and was now seated with his head bent. "He told me what happened." He didn't respond. He did not even look at me.I stood there for a minute more before gently walking to my room to put things away. I was relieved to find Dylan wasn't there.Since Elliot did not follow me, I went to the bathroom and took a quick shower, hoping it would calm me down.I still

It felt like I was about to die, but I couldn't allow that happen, so I took deep breaths, tried not to shout, and begged Harvey to explain how this was my fault.“I did not ask Elliot to leave his pregnant girlfriend. So, how can you say I'm responsible?""Oh my God, Alex; you know how Elliot is. He hates it when you're with someone. He claims it's to protect you, and I believe it is.”"Again, why is this my fault? I simply shared a photo I felt was lovely. What's wrong with that?""I see you viewed my Snapchat. You saw us happy and couldn't take it."“That's ridiculous.”"Alex, you're selfish. That is what you are. My God, I know you and Chloe have problems, but I can't believe you'd do this to an innocent baby.""Harvey—""No, Alex. I am done protecting you. I'm not sure why I even bothered calling you. This is what you wanted, and it's definitely the best news right now. Are you glad she's crying? A pregnant woman considering an abortion makes you happy?""I swear I—"“You and Ell
