"I love you too, handsome. I'll see you in fifteen."Hayley's voice was a hoarse whisper but it still sounded as tender as she had always been. She still had a small smile on her lips as her beautiful eyes closed slowly. The nurse was right about one very important things; Hayley needed to rest. She had just come out of a very tragic event and as relieved as we all were, we didn't have to crowd her too much.My heart swelled as I watched her sleep so peacefully. I had no idea who was driving that truck or what happened but I did know was things were going to be okay now. She was safe and that was all that mattered.Fifteen minutes. Of course it was going to a lot more than fifteen minutes of rest that Hayley was going to need but I still knew that whenever she woke up, I'd be back by her side, holding her hand, kissing her awake. I had told her that I loved her and she had said that she loved me too. This was going to be actual start of our love story. We had forever ahead of us.
My eyes fluttered open. How long had I been asleep? What happened? I groaned as my eyes and head screamed in pain. I hadn't really realized just how bright the room was until I had opened my eyes properly. When my eyes adjusted a little bit, I noticed the startled nurse looking over me, eyes wide and excited."Oh my goodness! Oh my... you're awake! She's awake!" She sounded further and further away, but I could still hear her scream, "SHE'S AWAKE!!"So I really was asleep. I tried to remember what had brought me to what I presume to be a hospital bed. My entire body ached. A dull pain in the back of my mind, but there nonetheless. That was when I remembered. The lights, the truck, the date... Nico. Oh shit, Nico! I tried to sit up and fell back almost immediately. My body wasn't in support of that idea.I heard footsteps running towards the room and yelling, too."WAIT, YOU CAN'T GO IN THERE!"Whoever that was being said to hadn't listened and ran into the room. I turned to see that
The sun rays swam into the bedroom and I sighed dreamily. Tristan's arms were draped over me and pulled me in a comforting cuddle. This brought back memories. The first night that we had spent together and how I had admired the sleeping figure on the hotel bed and wished that in another lifetime we could be lovers and I wouldn't have to sneak out early in the morning after a night of passionate lovemaking. It seemed like I had been tossed into that lifetime. Here I was, under Tristan's roof, on his king sized bed, under his sheets and in his arms. It was perfect. He leaned in close and kissed my neck, his newly grown beard tickling me."Good morning, love" his thick, sleepy voice was so nice to hear."Good morning, babe. Sleep good?" I asked."I have the love of my life next to me. Of course, I slept good'' he replied and then asked, ''Did you sleep okay?"I nodded."It was a wonderful night''I reached for my phone placed on the nightstand as I noticed the insistent blinking. Why in t
[NICO]I was jittery. I couldn't stay still and all I could think about was Hayley. I sat at the restaurant grinning from ear to ear. I had rented out Hayley's favorite seafood place and wanted to surprise her with a perfect date.I smiled at my phone, her photo was my wallpaper. I don't think I had ever been so happy with someone like this before. She made loving her so easy and all I wanted was to spend time with her.As excited as I was I could not push away a growing feeling of dread at the back of my mind. Why was I suddenly scared? I shook my head trying to banish the feeling. It was just nerves. This was the night that I was going to tell Hayley that I loved her. It had taken some time and pondering but I couldn't escape the fact that I loved her and I needed her to know tonight and always.I took out my phone and sent her a text."Hey, you''"Hey, babe,'' she texted back and added, ''There already?""I mean I can't let you get here before I do. What kind of boyfriend would tha
Alex was seated at the passenger side of the car looking outside; his mind utterly preoccupied. I wondered what it was that he was thinking about but he had an idea that Alex would not want to reveal his thoughts that easily.''Are you alright, Love?" I asked and Alex turned to me a small smile playing on his lips."Yeah, I'm good." He replied."Are you sure?" I asked again and he nodded.Oh well, was worth a shot I guess. I was taking Alex home. Of course, we had not left together from Heldon that would have raised a couple of eyebrows.Plus, Alex had been in the limelight of College drama twice and you could never tell who was watching him.I had driven off first and waited at an agreed location where he took a taxi to come meet me. From there we had taken my car and began to head back.Marilyn had left earlier that morning. She and Mathew were headed somewhere for a weekend getaway. It was odd that I felt a little jealous.Maybe that was because I was used to being one of the few m
''I'm done with this part of the paper and I think that I need to do a little more research of course,'' I handed the paper to Tristan doing my best to avoid eye contact, ''Maybe you can go through it later and tell me what you think''He took it from me, gave it a once over and sighed."Thank you, Alex,'' he placed it on the table, ''I'll take my time and see what you've come up with''"Cool''I shifted my weight from one leg to the other. The tension in the air was heavy and I wanted to keep avoiding it the same way that I had been doing.I had not heard from Tristan for a week and that was mainly because I had been actively running away from him and the questions that I knew he had. Now that I was here in his office I doubted that I could run any farther."Tell me Alex,'' he took his glasses, his expression serious, ''Are we going to address the elephant in the room by any chance?"I sighed and took a seat. Might as well get it over with right? I only hoped that he would not be as
