" It's DCM, (Dilated cardiomyopathy)"the doctor spoke and it felt like it was a dream to her. Emily blinked again as if she didn't understand what the doctor said but she did. She knew exactly what that meant, her heart started beating fast against her chest but she ignored it pinching her fingers.
" What's that doctor? Is it...that bad, will my mother not be able to recover from it?" Lilly asked desperately.
" DCM, also known as 'Broken Heart Syndrome'.This condition is triggered by intense emotional stress, such as depression, sadness, grief, or loss, which can cause the heart muscle to weaken and lead to heart failure..."
" So can it be treated?, will my mother be okay?" Lilly cut him off.
" Lilly, calm down. Let's hear what the doctor have to say first" Emily said calmly.
" Yes it can be treated through surgery" he answered and they sighed out of relief.
" doctor, how much will it cost for the surgery?" Emily asked fearfully,
" The surgery will cost about, two million dollars." He said and her heart dropped again.
Two million dollars, where was she to gather that kind of amount from. Her dad the sole bread winner of their family just passed away in a car accident during one of his business trips four months ago leaving the whole load of the family for her, and she's just twenty years old.
". I suggest you do the surgery on time or else...your mother will suffer in pain and become too weak to carry out the surgery" the doctor said one last time before leaving the two girls to thier fate.
" What are we going to do now Emily... Where are we going to get that money from" 17 year old lily asked crying. Emily hugged her, as much as her heart is hurting she can't break down because she has to be strong for her sister.
" don't worry I'll figure it out lily" she said calmly but her mind was racing with different thoughts.
Two days later.
*
* Lily watched as Emily dressed up to go out again. She looked at the time, it was already 10pm.
" Am going now lily don't forget to lock the door well before you go to bed" she said and carried her bag.
" Where exactly are you going to Emily? Lily asked, her eyes narrowed as she faced her sister.
" To work what else..."
" Which work exactly Emily?, it's 10 pm for crying out loud. What do you do outside by this time of the night!" Lily asked,
" Lily, you don't need to know just do what I tell you to do" Emily said and turned to leave.
" So much for being the model sister" lily scoffed, her voice full of sarcasm. Emily turned.
" What did you just say?" She asked and Lily came closer to her.
" Aren't I right?, You've always been a model sister the best daughter of our parents while me, I always cause trouble and worry our parents...our parents always told me to look up to you but now look at you... you're even worse than me" she said her voice dripping with sarcasm.
" Mind your language Lily am your older sister..."
" But you haven't been acting like one ever since dad died!" Lily snapped cutting her off.
" You always go out at night without telling me where exactly you're going to! I don't know what you do and I don't care but!... Can't you at least... give our mother some thought huh?" She said, her eyes getting watery. Emily's brows narrowed as she looked at her sister with clenched fist.
" So what do you want me to do? Should I stay with you here and do nothing but watch mum die!, What exactly do you want from me lily...you have no idea how hard am trying so!... just shut up and go sleep!" Emily yelled and left.
★ Club House
Fat Boss, Mr. Johnson, sat behind his massive desk, a self-satisfied grin spreading across his round face as he counted his stacks of cash. His eyes gleamed with excitement, and his thick fingers moved with a glee that made Emily's skin crawl.
" Ha I love the smell of money !" he chuckled, his belly jiggling with each laugh. "
Emily stood before him irritated by the sight of him and his office but she dared not show it on her face .
Mr. Johnson's looked up his expression turned cold, he glared at Emily. "What do you want?" he growled,
Emily took a deep breath before speaking, her voice trembling slightly. "Please, sir... I need to borrow some money for my mom's surgery..."
Mr. Johnson's face turned red with anger, and he slammed his fist on the table, making Emily jump. "Again with this topic? I already said no! Leave and get ready for your shift, you're on in half an hour!"
Emily's eyes welled up with tears as she fell to her knees, her hands clasped together in desperation. "Please, sir... have mercy. I'll do anything, just please help me save my mom..."
Mr. Johnson sneered at her, his voice venomous. "You still owe me money for paying your sister's school fees and your dad's treatment. And now you want more? You haven't even finished paying off your debt, and you're asking for more? You're like a bottomless pit, gray eyes. I'm not a charity!"
Emily's face contorted in anguish as she begged, her voice cracking. "Please, sir... I'll do anything. I'll work extra shifts, I'll do anything you want, just please help me..."
Mr. Johnson's smiled when he heard that. He approached Emily, his eyes gleaming with a cunning light. "Ah, stand up, my dear. I have a job for you, one that requires your... particular talents."
Emily's eyes narrowed, her instincts screaming at her to be cautious. "What kind of job, boss?" she asked warily.
"One of our most valuable customers has been admiring you for a while now and...."
Emily's face twisted in disgust and she cut him and. "Boss, I already told you I can't sleep with anyone. I'm just a dancer here"
Mr. Johnson's smile faltered for a moment before he continued, his voice smooth as silk.
"Oh, no, no, no, my dear. I'm not asking you to sleep with him." He chuckled,
"Tonight, he and his friends will be here, and I want you to dance for them. If you impress him, you'll be invited to dance privately for him in his booked room. And if you... please him, you'll be handsomely rewarded. Enough to pay for your mother's surgery, and then some."
Emily's heart sank, her mind racing with the implications. She knew he might be lying to get her to agree but the thought of saving her mother was strong.
* I'll do it, I'll save mother pay this dirty man's debt and finally...leave this hell of a place* she took a deep breath before looking at him.
" Okay, I'll do it." She said her eyes glowing with determination.
" Good! Absolutely good Emily hahahaha" Mr Johnson laughed his big round stomach shaking up and down.
Tbc...
The young girl was brought into the large lab-like room. It smelled so strongly of chemicals it burned the sensitive nose of the child. The lights were so bright they were blinding. Made especially worse for the girl who spends her time in the dimly lit cage room. Four bodies stood in that room, waiting for her. They strapped her to one of the tables, then strapped three more to the other three tables. Each child is five years old and has yet to be in this room till now. They were strapped down with thick leather belts that prevented them from moving so much as half an inch. It hurt badly, causing bruises to start to form under the straps. Once they had the last child strapped down the Techs got right to work. They started with the last one they strapped down and would work their way down. The girl couldn’t see anything from where she was. Her head was strapped down so tightly she couldn’t turn it. She could only look up at the blinding bright lights. She heard their movements, then
The cage the girl was shoved into was small, but clean. There was no rust or sharp edges on the wire cage. There was nothing at all in the cage except for a thin blanket that separated her skin from the wire mesh. In this cage she could barely stand up, she couldn’t fully stretch out, she could only really only sit with the blanket wrapped around her small shoulders. It was very cold in the facility. Very cold and dark that always reeked of disinfectants. The room she was in was very large with nearly four hundred cages inside. Each cage had a child varying in age from four years to ten. The cages were stacked four high in ten rows of forty. Some of the kids cried in fear or pain. Others screamed in agony or rage. Most were deathly silent, though. A few from actually being dead, stress and failed experimentation doing them in, bodies now waiting to be taken. The rest were quiet because they knew no amount of them expressing grievances will change anything. So they will sit there quie
It was a really beautiful day. The sky was a perfect blue with just a few clouds dotting the endless skies. It was warm out as it was the midle of summer. Outside the birds chirped to each other while the bees buzzed around the flowering plants. Distent sounds of other humans in the small town were quiet as the house was set further back than the rest. Inside the house a father was sanding down the face of a table he preparing to make. Six feet to his left was his wife and child. The woman gently brushed the hair of her daughter, gently removing the tangles from the blond haired child. A white ribbon held in one hand, made of cotton grown by the mother. The husband stopped his sanding for a moment to admire his family. The wife he love and whose strength he admired. The daughter he worked hard to provide for and protect. He stood up straight, returning the smile given to him by wife and child. His mouth opened, ready to tell them how much he loved them. The child heard the sound of
Often times humanity is said to lie in ones heart. The place where all their love and compasion comes from. It's beats that remind us we are still alive as well as tell those around us we are living too. The part of them that connects them to everyone else around them. It's what seperates them from the monsters, the ones who only look out for themselves. The heart is seen as the most improtant part of a human as it shows what kind of person they are. It is what makes you human. So what are you do if yours was stolen from you? What do you do when it is ripped from your chest and replaced with a meatal pump? What do you do when all you hear is silence from your own chest every night? To hold tight another human and feel their strong heart beat in their chest while knowing they wont feel yours? Do you even consider yourself still human? At what point should you stop considering yourself human. For most like her, Partial Techs, they faced those two questions every day of their lives. Ar
