Chapter 1
“I’m so excited to be coming on this adventure!” Squealed Bridgette as she walked around the lab, looking at the many chemicals left scattered on the counters. “It’s not an adventure, Ms. Hawthorne, it’s a science expedition.” Calvin sighed, packing up the fragile equipment. He reached to a taller shelf and packed another delicate machine in a padded crate. He seemed to have an unusually long nose with a narrow bridge that almost didn’t fit his slender face. As he moved past Bridgette around the laboratory benches, she caught whiffs of mint and old books. “Please have some decorum on this trip. It’s vitally important that we get the information we’re searching for.” He turned to face her, his wide, hard eyes focusing her attention. He always seemed more classy and calm than she did, but Bridgette supposed it was the French accent that hovered around him like cigarette smoke. She shrugged her shoulders and turned down the corners of her mouth. “I will Cal,” She continued looking

Chapter 2
As they head through the vast wasteland a small voice arose from somewhere in the back of the group. “Si.. si... Sir..” Trembled Ajay as he struggled to keep up with the rest of the crew. “Is there shelter anywhere? I can’t feel my toes, Dr. Hawthorne.” Jasper cleared his throat as his already deep and raspy voice caused by smoking way too many countless Cuban cigars is somewhat raspier and strained. “Yes, of course, Dr. Anderson built a hut around here, yes.” He quickly looked down at the old, worn-out map and squinted looking back up. “Ahh, this way, yes, this is the way.” “Are you sure Uncle?” Questioned Bridgette, her once porcelain skin now a bright red from the harsh sting of the howling wind. Jasper grumbled some unintelligible words with his back towards everyone, leading the way, deeper into the vast uncharted territory. “It's best to leave him to his thoughts, my Dear,” Mrs. Watson said with grace as she grabbed Bridgette’s hand. She was surprisingly very athletic and v

The next morning they are abruptly woken up by Agneta as she burst through the door. “Come, the Queen wants to see you all.” As they head toward the grand room they see Queen Yolandi standing on a small platform pacing back and forth in a long silver dress, wearing a crown of diamonds and pearls. “Who touched him? Who touched Prince Raiden?” She protested rubbing her forehead. “Answer me now or I shall hold you all in…” A hand gently touched her shoulder and she stopped mid-sentence. “The Queen will take a moment to compose herself, I shall be taking over for her majesty.” The man was an older gentleman with a beak-like nose and long face, his voice very low, slow, and uninviting, to say the least. He was tall and slender, and his hands looked coarse, he had shoulder-length black hair and pale skin, and his thin lips were met with long sharp teeth. He liked to show them as he enunciated each word in detail. “Come forth on who touched his royal highness and ther

“What are we to do, your majesty?” Asked a pale, skinny man fawning over Yolandi. She slapped his hand and waved him away, his voice was high-pitched and he was unable to control the levels as he spoke. “Try to keep your distance, Guntha.” Zornan slowly recited, standing on the side of Yolandi, dressed in black fur, except for the red that lined his sleeves. “War, it will certainly come to war, Agneta, the little bitch, I’m positive she’s telling my sweet boy about the prophecy. She’ll be turning him against me!” Yolandi raised her voice while looking in the mirror, she banged her hands on her vanity as the ones still loyal guarded her door. She quickly turned to face Zornan, “Grab Seti from the dungeons, I will kill him myself!” He nodded as Guntha quickly scampered off. He's not as tall as everyone else, he has short braided pure white hair, pink eyes, and a thin white mustache. An outcast as the last albino born there was over two hundred years ago. Yolandi and

Chapter 5
“How are you, my dear?” Asked Mrs. Watson as she slowly walked over to the chair next to Bridgette and sat down, covering her legs in a red checkered blanket. A little lost in thought, Clara grabbed Bridgette’s hand and asked again. “Mrs. Clara, I don’t know how we got here,” Bridgette answered with tears welling in her eyes. “We took an adventure, Dear, that’s how we got to this lovely, secret, cold, magical kingdom in the middle of nowhere.” She laughed as she grabbed her handkerchief, so Bridgette could wipe away her tears. “I’m worried about Raiden, and I know it’s silly, seeing as how I just met him.” Bridgette wiped away her tears as she stared at Clara. “When I was seventeen I met a tall, lean, blonde-haired, green-eyed twenty-three-year-old man. I was walking in the park with my Scottish terrier, Jax when this man bumped right into me. He asked me to dinner and by dessert, I was head over heels for this clumsy handsome man. We marri

Chapter 6
“Be on your guard, my mother isn’t far,” Raiden informed his uncle and the raiding party behind him, they hastened through the hallway leading toward Bridgette’s room. As they approached Dr. Jasper was outside the door. “Raiden,” Jasper spotted him coming down the hall. “Bridgette, Miles, and Sean are missing. One of your guardsmen took us and told the others would come once the place was secure. Your guardsmen were infiltrated, I killed two men on the way back here. Raiden she’s not here, she’s not here.” Raiden gathered his men together and ordered a search of the underground kingdom. “Jasper, I need you with me and Agneta!” Raiden put his hand on Jasper’s back. Heading through the halls he told Agneta he wanted to go to his mother’s room, upon opening the door they heard grunting. He swung the double doors open and he saw Zornan, Yolandi, and three of her followers dressed as guardsmen. He stepped forward and notices Bridgette tied up. Yolan

Chapter 7
“Your Grace, we need to kill Shuntha,'' Seti walked alongside Raiden as he made his way to the icy throne. The throne wasn’t made of ice but metal that was painted white, it was almost a century old. It didn’t rust, it wasn’t worn down, the paint wasn’t chipped, and it looked like it had just been crafted. Five fairies that were part of the kingdom forged the throne with magic, the fairies were once respected and loved; until King Atticruss and Queen, Tressa feared them and spread hatred amongst the people. “Enough death Uncle, I know he is an enemy, but we’ve had enough death here.” Raiden sat on the throne as his eyes shifted to the side, he watched men bring in the similar feminine throne as they placed it next to his. They bowed and left as Raiden and Seti stared in its direction. “The Queen’s throne?” Seti questioned as he made his way up to the empty chair. “I thought it lost after my brother died, your mother proclaimed herself the indisputable Qu

“Ealdormen, I have gathered this council for the heir apparent.” Ealdorman Leif Deshanel slowly stood from his chair addressing the five older gentlemen gathered around the large wooden table. “We should discuss young Raiden Zanzibar’s reign, and this new woman he is fond of.” Piped up a man sitting on the side of Leif. He had long, thinning gray hair that fell to his sunken cheeks with a large gray mustache buried under an elongated crooked nose. He was going blind guiding him loyally as his large brown Newfoundland dog, Rexus. All of the Ealdormen wore long white robes to signify their long-standing loyalty to the kingdom; they were the oldest of men there. They were put on the council to help govern the kingdom, some would say more powerful than the monarchs themselves. They could deny any heir out of fear for the wellness of the realm, and sentence any man they deem fit to death for the same reason. “Quite right, Ealdorman Silas Tryon, quite right!” A bal

“My love, I can not go into the council with you, but I will be right here when you get out.” Raiden held onto Bridgette’s shoulders as he looked deep into her almond-shaped blue eyes. He hugged her tightly, kissed her forehead, then leaned forward to knock on the big wooden doors. As they opened he was greeted by two large guards, they moved aside letting Bridgette enter. “Ms. Bridgette Hawthorne, you were summoned before the council on this day, what say you?” Bellowed Ealdorman Amos as he sat on the other side of the long wooden table. She stood still with her hands in front of her, nervously taking a deep breath. “Well, this council is waiting!” Amos got louder as he stared her down. “Say you come of your own accord and are at the mercy of the council,” Ealdorman Leif whispered to her, smiling. His seat was at the opposite end of Ealdorman Amos. “I come of my own accord and am at the mercy of the council.” She kept her head d

“Ms. Bridgette Hawthorne, you were summoned before the council, what say you?” Ealdorman Amos started as he cleared his throat to get the attention of his fellow Ealdormen. “I come of my own accord and am at the mercy of the council.” Bridgette closed her eyes, slightly dipped her head, and turned her hands palm up as she sat in the large chair next to Ealdorman Leif. “Ms. Bridgette Hawthorne you are brought before the council on this day. We the Ealdormen of this council have educated you on our history, our culture, and our customs.” Ealdorman Leif leaned forward on his staff. “We understand that you wish to marry Prince Raiden?” Ealdorman Silas spoke up leaning on the long table to hear better. “I do, Ealdorman Silas.” She put her hands together as Rexus came under the table and put his head in her lap. “We will grant you this, under a condition.” Ealdorman Eagan leaned back in his chair as he paused. “You will take an Ealdorma
