My heart was pounding in panic. I could not watch any longer.

Dizzy and light-headed, I stumbled back to my room, yanked off my underwear and tossed it far away, then fell into a heavy, dazed sleep.

I did not know how long I had slept before I was startled awake by a sound outside the door. It was Jack.

"I'm heading out to take care of something. I'll be back in an hour."
